I wheeled myself to an empty corner of the table, and positioned myself to eat breakfast. I get my plate served. A classic scramble egg with Bacon. After having small talks with Victoria’s family and eating my delicious breakfast. Everybody else leaves to prepare for the day, I wait for the others to prepare. After waiting ten to fifteen minutes alone in the same position I was for breakfast. Victoria’s family was ready.
“Are you ready to visit your Grandpa's house, Rhoa?” Asked Mr. Victor excitedly.
“I am,” I said.
“Daddy. Are you sure Rhoa can’t come with us to the Amusement park?” Victoria said, begging his father to take me.
“Let her choose. We must respect her decision. It’s also one less ticket, money we could use to buy more things” Mr. Victor said.
“Honey. You can’t say that in front of Rhoa. Rhoa, what Mr. Victor wanted to say was, It’ll be good for you to have quality time with your real family. Not this one. “ Mrs. Victor said.
The adoptive child treatment. I deal with this everyday and every aspect of all the times I lived here. When it’s the start of a new school year, Victoria gets the best, and most expensive bags, and school things. While I get your average Joe stuff. Even on birthdays, Victoria gets everything she wants, no matter the budget. While I get birthday presents with a certain maximal budget.
It wasn’t the luxury life I had before this. When living with Auntie, I also to, can get anything I want. Not only on birthdays but anytime I want. How the table changes so quickly. But what can you do about it? I can’t complain. What I can do is appreciate what I have, and dream big for a better quality of life.
I got wheeled outside, The car was also waiting outside. I hopped into the car, and sat down. Eagerly awaiting to visit my Grandfather’s house. I know I said I wasn’t happy, and I am. But I am pretty excited to solve this mystery.
Mr. Victor as usual picked up my Wheelchair, and placed it in the car’s luggage. Everyone then gets inside the car. Mr. Victor starts the car, and Mr. Victor starts to drive. We drove for a few hours. This drive in a quiet mainroad leaving a State Capital. Brings back memories. The day when my Aunt left me behind. She might have left me. But she’s been taking care of me for the first Eight years of my life. How could I hate her? What I could do is find out why, and try to accept it. No matter what.
Finally we arrived at my Grandfather's Mansion Residence. This brings back more childhood memories. I remember the first time I went here, was when my Aunt begged my Grandfather to give us Financial Support and was cold heartedly rejected.
That’s when my Aunt told me to never see that man again. His own Father. But I guess now I have no other option but to go there again. Sorry Aunt
We arrive at the big doors of the Residence. The grand doors and exterior brings me back memories of time we were at Mr. Ji-Oh’s house. Some good, some bad. Maids were lined in front of the house. The car then arrives in front of the residence.
The door was opened with my wheelchair ready in front of me and a couple of maids assisting me. I hopped outside and sat down in my wheelchair.
Mrs. Victor waited outside to drop me of.
“Be a good girl, Rhoa” Mrs. Victor said.
“Alright Mrs. Victor” I said.
“I’ll pick you up the day after tomorrow. On Monday alright?” Mrs. Victor informed me.
“Alright, Go have fun!” I said.
“We will” Mrs. Victor said, she then walks to the car and gets inside.
They wave their goodbyes. Victoria still looks disappointed I couldn’t come, and we parted ways. For now.
I then get wheeled to a ramp to head to the main doors. After we got up to the main doors, other helpers helped me to open the Big Doors. Inside, A Spanish man, with white hair, wearing a Blue suit, and a Pink Dress shirt welcomes me.
“Hola, Mi amour. Great to see you again in the Rodriguez Residence” The man said. That man was none other than my Grandfather.
“Hello. Grandfather” I said with a professional tone.
“Ay ya yai. I see you're not here to spend quality time with your Abuelo. What is it you want?” My Grandfather said, straight to the point.
“Can we sit down and talk it over with a cup of tea?” I suggested.
“You wealthy Americans. What has the Rodriguez family become? Expecting to be served as Royalty ” My Grandfather said.
“Prepare me Tea and Biscuits for my granddaughter. Rhoa, come with me to the living room” Grandfather said right after what he said before.
I then get wheeled to the living room. My Grandfather sat down on a big Gray couch and in front of him a small gold framed table.
“Rhoa. Do you want to sit down on the couch too?” Grandfather asked.
“No thanks” I said.
“Alright” Grandfather said.
“Let’s get down to business shall we. So you see-”
“Wait. Let’s drink our tea first” My Grandfather interrupted me.
The tea arrives and we both get a small tea cup, with Gold patterns all over the cup. My Grandfather takes a few sips.
“Go on,” Grandfather said.
“So you know my Aunt left me right?” I said.
“I know. I recommended you be left to the Victors to your Aunt” Grandfather said.
“Wait. You knew all along. Even before she left me?” I asked, furious.
“I couldn’t stop that Girl. Whatever she wants, One way or another she’s going to have it. I just helped you out a little by recommending her to leave you to the Victors” Grandfather said.
“How do you know Mr and Mrs Victor?” I asked.
“Mr. Victor used to be my personal Secretary and Mrs. Victor was a former Gardener here” My Grandfather said.
