The thing that attracted me to Alabama out of all other cities in the united States is because of its serenity and beauty.I spent most of my life in a crowdy place so a place like Alabama is like heaven on earth for me.

By the time I'm done with my stuffs,it's already 8pm at night so the only thing I could eat that night was a sandwich that Anna prepared for me to eat on the plane which I totally forgot.

The bright moon accompanied by the silent night is like a lullaby that lulled me to sleep almost immediately.

I woke up to the sound of cars,the aroma of foods and chattings that I could heard coming from the distance,I opened the window in my room and was welcomed with a great scenery of greens, bustling people, students running after each other and I looked far beyond to see almost the entire city of Alabama spread out in front of me.

I stretched my body ,walk to my bathroom to clean up for the beginning of the day.I walked down my staircase and went to the kitchen.Thank goodness I brought some fast foods from France,I made coffee and went to sit on the chair in the dining table that has a transparent glass which enables me to see the garden in my home.I'm really satisfied with this house which is why I bought it despite the high price.I looked at the flowers in trance but the ringing of my phone snapped me out of my thoughts.

"Yo girl"Anna hollered.

"What's up?"I questioned

"You haven't called since yesterday but I figured I should live you to sleep since I know you will be jetlagged, ain't I a good friend?"She joked.

"So good of you.How's your day going without me to disturb you?" I asked with a smile on my face while changing the audio call to video call,Anna was sitting on the chair in her jewelry company,she's a jewelry designer who own a jewelry company of her own,she only manage my work when she's less busy.

"Well,fun.I don't have to look after a spoiled brat and I don't have to look at tons of paperworks all day,how delightful"She laughs wildly while throwing her head back.

I smiled at her and said in a casual tone,"Then,I can postpone my holiday to maybe two years"

"I dare you"She shrieked and I laughed at her

"Have you shopped for all the things you'll need over there?"She asked in a serious tone.

"Just about to,I'll go once I'm done with my breakfast"I replied.

"Alright darling,make sure you're well fed and be careful over there.You know I can't fly there overnight"She warned.

"Okay ma.Chat ya later"

After chatting with Anna,I dressed up and went out of my house and make my way to the supermarket and the mall beside it to buy things I need and foods,thank goodness I have a car so it's so esy for me to move it.

After dropping everything at my house,I went out to the diner adjacent to the supermarket

The bell chime as I opened the door to the diner.

"Welcome"A young lady of about the same age as me or probably younger greeted me and I flashed her a smile.

"Can I get a cappuccino please?"I requested

"You can sit on the table beside the window"She pointed to a sit and made her way to the coffee machine to get my order.

I looked around the diner and realized it comprises of very few people sitting together and talking while looking at my direction.

I took my eyes off them and started playing with my phone.

"Here's your order" the waitress said and I murmured a thanks.

I sip my coffee and I looked up to see her still staring at me and I raised my brows in question,"Is there anything I could help you with?"

"Are you new to this town?"She asked

"Yeah.Is there a problem?"I asked while scanning her attire.She wore a brown pencil skirt with a white t-shirt tucked into the skirt and an apron tied to her waist,her hair is packed up in high ponytail.

"Nope.It's just that your fave isn't familiar.Everybody knows who is whose in this town"

"Oh"

"My name is Jessica,I'm the owner of this diner"She flashed me a smile while extending her hands.

"Ava"I replied while shaking her hand,"You're rich"I said with a smile and she laughed while waving her hands dismissively.

"Don't get me wrong,this diner is inheritance"She replied

"Wow,it's older than you then"I said jokingly and she nodded in agreement.

"Let me accompany you for a while before customer start rushing in"She said as she sat down on the chair in front of me.

We started talking on different matter in which I told her I'm a dance just taking a break,she's so surprised and requested me to dance for her one day in which I agreed jokingly. She also told me about herself,she's the only child of her parents.

"Jess,can you tell me what I need to know in this town"I asked as I took the last sip of my cappuccino.She looked at me and dragged her chair closer to me.

"There's one thing"

"What?"I asked.

"There's a path at the back of the mountain which nobody is allowed to pass as it's said that whoever ventured into the mountain and mistakenly goes there will never be found"She whispered.

"Why is that?"I questioned.

"Well,I don't really know but this thing has been in existence even before my Dad was born,many people who never listen wasn't found till date,nobody knows if they're dead or alive"She said .

I went deep in thought and a shiver ran down my spine as I wondered what terrifying thing could be there.

The sound of loud noise pulled me out of reverie and Jess stood up while adjusting her clothes,"Here comes the busy hours"She took her pad,I stood up with her and requested to help her and she was very happy to oblige.

It's past 7 in the evening by the time we're done,my name has been known all around as people found out there's a stranger in Jess's diner.

After a long day of standing and helping with the account,me and Jess collapsed on a chair while inhaling deeply.

"Wow,I can't get used to this"Jess said.

"Aren't you born into this?"I said and she replied,"My Dad never let me do this kind of stuffs,I just started this business a month ago when my parents retired to travel"

"Oh"

I sat for like thirty minutes before I informed Jess about leaving and she offered to walk me to my house which I accepted, Jess made her way to her house which is coincidentally behind mine after I entered my house.

I slumped on the bed after taking my shower,it's been a hectic but fulfilling day.

"I wonder how tomorrow will go"I whispered sleepyly.
