Zain, agitated: "What? You just defeated an S-class individual!"
Ren, calmly and coolly: "I know, but there's no need to draw attention. It would be a burden, especially in our current situation. I mean, we've found the killer, and he's in prison now, so we have a lot to do."
The king calms down a bit and wipes his forehead: "Your perspective is as sharp as ever, and I respect your opinion. But what do you think about joining us for dinner to celebrate your enlistment in the army? I assume your family isn’t in the country, is that right?"
Ren, nervously: "No, no need for that. I appreciate it, though..."
The king, smiling: "No need to be shy, especially since you don’t know all the members of the royal family, right, Zain?"
Zain, smiling: "Of course, you’ve become one of us now."
Ren smiles an empty smile, but it hides a lot. He lowers his head to the ground, remembering a faint voice calling him, "Come, Ren, it's dinner time," and everyone starts eating.
Young Ren: "I'm coming..."
Ren snaps out of his childhood memory and looks at everyone, who are trying to analyze that smile and his gaze towards the ground. But Ren responds with a smile: "Alright, thank you, Your Majesty. It’s an honor to be at the same table with you, and you too, Zain."
Zain and the king are pleased with his cheerful response.
The king, stroking his beard: "May I ask you a question, Ren?"
Ren: "Of course."
The king: "You defeated Karl, you were wanted, and you lived alone for a long time. How old are you? You don’t look very old."
Ren: "I’m 17."
Everyone falls silent, shocked, staring at him in amazement, and they all exclaim loudly: "What?!!??"
Ren is surprised by their reaction. Meanwhile, a girl arrives at the hospital located a bit west of the palace. She enters the hospital quickly, and everyone in the hallway bows: "My lady."
She rushes to the reception: "Where is my brother Karl?"
Nurse: "He’s in room number 4."
She dashes off and opens the door, finding Karl sitting by the window, looking at a breathtaking view. The large room is bathed in the rays of the sunset. Selina is talking and laughing with Karl, who is smiling the whole time. The girl enters and hugs Karl.
She says, crying: "I was really worried about you. Are you okay? Mom is worried too."
Karl, smiling: "Easy there, troublemaker, you’re pressing on my wounds."
The girl, with tears and a smile: "Who did this to you, brother? I’ll beat them up."
Karl, laughing: "Don’t get angry, my beautiful little one."
Selina smiles: "No need to get upset. The one he fought with is a friend, right, Karl?"
Karl: "Of course, I doubted him a lot, but he let me off with minimal damage."
Karl remembers the moment of impact when Ren grabbed his fist, which contained all his energy, with his hand, which had a slight pulse, leading to that powerful collision that caused him to fall.
The girl, wiping her tears: "If it’s as you say, then it’s alright."
In a moment of silence, a call comes from the reception to room number 4. The three of them turn towards the phone. Selina answers: "Yes?"
The king: "It’s me, Altair. Is Karl alright?"
Selina: "Yes, he’s fine. The doctor said he just needs rest."
The king, loudly: "Can you hear me, Karl?"
Karl: "Yes, what is it?"
The king: "Can you come to the palace?"
Karl: "Yes, why?"
The king: "Well, Ren has been appointed as one of the top ten elite soldiers of the army, and his uniform has arrived. We’re having a dinner at the palace in his honor, so I thought it would be best if you came, since you’re the army commander, and of course, Zain will be with us."
Karl, getting up: "Of course, I’ll be there in 15 minutes."
The king: "Well said."
Ren enters the king’s office in his black military uniform, embroidered with red and a golden star on his shoulder, and black boots. He looks like a commander with his well-fitted body and messy hair (he likes it that way and combs it to make it look disheveled).
Everyone is amazed, and Zain exclaims: "Amazing, you look like a commander now."
"All Rin Kagero ever wanted was a peaceful life, far from his homeland and past. But when he is accused of a crime, everything changes. Now a fugitive, his search for peace turns into a journey with no clear destination."
