Soft music plays and fingers tapping on a keyboard fills Kiel and Archer’s office.
The two of them had woken fairly early that morning. Today was enrollment day for most colleges, and you had to sign up early to get the class you want. So Kiel and Archer had hopped on to Kiel’s dream college sight. Kiel wanted to become a writer, so he signed up for online creative writing and Greek mythology (just for fun). Archer thought it would be best for Kiel to do classes online so that’s what they signed up for.
Kiel leaned back, the chair creaking softly, and let out a long sigh. Archer mirrored him, stretching his arms above his head.
“Finally,” Archer sighs. “You better become smart after this, and do we even have enough money for this?!”
“Um yeah. My parents left me some money when they left. I’ll just used what they sent me for school and we continue working at the cafe and use that for bills and food.”
“Well at least we won’t go into debt,” Archer chuckles but it fades into a groan. “At least I hope we don’t.”
“I don’t think we have anything to worry about,” Kiel rests his head against Archer’s shoulder. He then waves his hands in the air, drawing out a rainbow. “Maybe I’ll even become a famous writer and make millions!”
Archer smiles and kisses Kiel’s forehead. “Maybe some day…someday.”
“Archer? If I do become famous, I promise to always stay here with you no matter what,” Kiel nuzzles his face into Archer’s shoulder.
“You are stuck with me forever no matter what,” Archer smiles. “Because I am your eyes for this world.”
With that the two of them sit in the office together soaking up everything in their life and what is to happen.
The next few days were long for Kiel and Archer. Kiel had started getting antsy because the new on whether or not he was getting into college hasn’t come yet. Archer could tell Kiel was stressed. Everyday before and after work, Kiel would lock himself in the office for hours, regressing the application page over and over again. Even during work, whenever there weren’t any customers Kiel would constantly check his phone throughout the day. Kiel would also constantly pace around the room sighing, he even started cleaning, something Kiel would never do. Days went by and this continued.
