Elusive Main Character

Good ol' Clifford, the main character of my sci-fi satire The Clifford Spock Incident, is a delight but is a mite chatty! His story can be found on Amazon ( https://tinyurl.com/2p8xb3k8 ) and elsewhere ( https://books2read.com/u/bzqgkD ).
But seriously, getting an OC to open up to you is often so much harder than it should be. And it's weird to talk about to non-writers, because saying "The person in my head won't talk to me!" definitely sounds like a normal and not at all insane complaint.
