Life just ain't fair to some people, is it? It's not to me at least, sent out into the wilderness known as 'Tokyo’ as a 9 year old kid. Been 5 years since then, and my life is still shit. Those were the thoughts going through my head as I found a girl sitting on the side of the street. And it's not the usual whore or drunk, but a kid. I kneel down and look at her, and she puts her hands over her head. I flinch a little; I know exactly what her family did. I put my hand on her head and smile, “I'm not going to hurt you kid. Are you lost?” She peeks from behind her hands but stays silent. I stand up and start walking away, pausing and saying, “If you don't want to be alone, follow me.” I walk away, and she ‘secretly’ follows me.
I make it to my camp, a small area with a black tent and a campfire. The kid is following me, but is trying to hide from me. Not surprising, I am a new person. And from what I can tell, she doesn't have the best memories of people. I start making some food and the girl slowly comes out from behind a wall. She comes over and looks in the pot I'm using. “It's called rice, it's really good.” I say, surprising the girl. She just nods and stares at it. “What's your name kid?” I ask, but she doesn't say anything. That's fine. It's not a good idea to share your name here, even as little as that can get you on the black market. I look over the pot and say, “The rice looks about done, why don't you sit down by the tent and I'll serve you?” She nods and skips over to the tent, drolling.
I soon bring two bowls and hand one of them to the kid. She rampages the bowl like a raptor and looks at me. I wipe a little bit of rice off her check and she blushes lightly, but it soon fades in light of puppy dog eyes. She has pink hair, pink skin, pink… Everything, except for her eyes, which are black with golden iris'. “Alright kid,” I start, “but only if you tell me your name.” She stops for a seconds but soon quietly says, “Ashido, Mina Ashido.” I smile and stand up, “Oh, that's a cool name. Mine is Benny, and it's nice to meet you.” I walk over to the pot and get her another bowl of food.
At some point she stops eating and stares at me. I look her in the eyes and say, “I'm not that hot ya know.” She blushes slightly and looks away. I'm really not. I'm just a tall, skinny, with blue hair, brown eyes, and slightly yellowish teeth that are mostly correct except for one front tooth on the top of my mouth that shoots forward a bunch. Oh and I reek of sweat. Do you need any more proof I'm a teenager? She looks back at me and says the first thing that's not her name, “Thanks Brother Benny…” Cute. I always wanted a little sister. And if this gets popular, I REALLY hope people don't ship us… I yawn and walk over to the tent. I slip in and set up another blanket for her, and lay down in my own blanket, I call over to her, “Alright, let's go to sleep, I made you a separate blanket, so sleep in that.” I lay down on my blankets and soon fell asleep.
5 years prior, Benny POV
My father, a dick with hair even bluer than mine, slams on my door and shouts, “WAKE UP YOU LITTLE SHIT! YOUR MOM NEEDS CLEANED UP!” I shoot up out of my bed and quickly get dressed, “Yes sir…” I silently pass him, and he glares at me as I move farther into the messy house. I enter my parents room, and clean up my mother. Don't ask what I'm cleaning, it would scar you. Lets just say I kill many children when I do this. She's soon cleaned up, and I bring her to the living room. My deadbeat father is gone, per usual. “Benny…” I stop what I'm doing and walk over to my mother. She continues, “You should leave. Get out of this hell.” I shake my head and protest, “Please. You can't deal with this yourself.” She pulls me into an embrace, “Please. Don't put yourself through this for me. Take this.” She lets me go and hands me a hero agency card. “Find me when you're older, but for now… Get out. I'm sorry for this, but it's for the best.” I silently cry and leave. “Yeah. I know. Goodbye mom... When dad gets home. Tell him to go fuck himself.” I head out into the streets and start my new life. I'll see you again someday Midnight.
Perhaps it was fate. Perhaps it was just some fucked up spur decision by God. But now... We live in hell. Where evil rules the streets and heros are even less heroic. Benny knows this, and knows he has to live with it. But his life changes when he meets a young pink haired girl on the street. Maybe, just maybe, life will change. But how can one homeless kid change the world? Find out in Superpower Dystopia!
