Flip of a coin

Fated Policy 2.5

Fated Policy 2.5

Apr 04, 2025

“H-Huh?” The fuck did he mean by that!?

There is clearly some sort of drug addict or drunk sitting right beside me and flipping a coin for whatever reason!

"Jon, are you fucking with me right now!?” I point to the man once more, who just continued flipping that god-forsaken coin, acting as if he owned the place. “Because this is no laughing matter! Pull over and take care of him before he does something to harm me!”

“I-I’d never pull such a cruel joke, madam! Honest to God,” he says, looking up at the rear view mirror. “Trust me when I say I don’t see another soul there.”

I was about ready to ring the man’s neck for his repeated attempts to make a fool of me...That was until my heart felt like it came to a halt once I looked into the mirror!

H-HE WAS NOT IN THE REFLECTION!

I looked back at the man and saw he was right here beside me, looking at me while flipping that coin without a care in the world.

I kept looking at the mirror, then back at him over and over, trying to make sense of how I could see him right beside me, yet he’s nowhere to be found in the mirror.

W-What the fuck was going on!?

“M-Madam, are you doing okay?” Jon asked, looking at me as if I was some sort of wack job. “Do you need me to pull over and call your doctor?”

Looking to Jon, then back to this...Guy, it hit me that whatever this person had to be was nothing more than the stress from the campaign getting to me, and I must have imagined this man as a result of it.

“...N-No no...I’m fine,” I kept a close eye on the man as I slowly sat back down in my seat, trying to tell myself this was nothing but my mind playing tricks on me, though it still felt uneasy seeing it sit beside me.

“You sure? That was quite the freak-out you had there, and I just want to make su-

“Did I stutter!? I said, I’m fine!” I turn my attention away from this figment of my imagination and give Jon a good yelling for thinking he could question my sanity! “Just continue to take me home and make it quick!" I can’t risk going to see a psychiatrist now if word got out that I had to see one that would do irreversible damage to my campaign and any future political prospects.

I can’t afford to risk that!

“O-Okay...Will do, Madam…” Jon closes the window once more...Thus leaving me alone with my own creation.

I sit up straight, legs together, and hands rested flat atop my lap, just like I would when meeting up with other officials and world leaders, staring out the window and doing my damnedest to ignore whatever the hell this is that my mind cooked up.

“Quite the loyal driver you have there? Wonder if that same loyalty would still come for free?”

I continued to try and ignore this twisted fragment of my mind, but it just would not stop yapping. “You know we always found people like you to be quite the interesting bunch; you promise to be the voice and will of the people, yet leaders like you seem to do the complete opposite and use your power to make the lives of those same people who put their trust in you as miserable as possible,” the thing laughed to itself. “It’s quite funny how often I keep running into leaders just like you.”

Really must be more overworked than I thought if my subconscious was spewing such nonsense. I felt a migraine coming on right now, so I took an aspirin from my pocket and chugged it down with a sip of my champagne to hopefully prevent it.

“Not very chatty at the moment, huh?” Why won’t this creature just leave my head already? “That’s alright; I’m not here for a chat anyway, but to play a little game with you.”

Game?

What the hell did he mean by that?

“Rules are simple.”

Tails: Your future ambitions will be fulfilled

Heads: Things are going to be a lot more rocky than your political career

Wait...Is he talking about that stupid coin he won’t stop flicking in the air? What the hell does this have to do with anything? Am I seriously losing my mind right now?

Letting my curiosity get the best of me, I had to peek over to see what madness my mind had cooked up.

"Ah, it looks like I had finally caught your interest.” It was then that the creature had finally stopped flicking that coin and let it land on its thumb to rest. “Let’s delay no longer-

What does fate have in store for you

Heads

Peaking over the creature’s palm, it indeed landed on head, though unlike any other coin I had seen, the head did not resemble any famous person in history; it was just a generic-shaped head with a cross slashed into it.

Apparently this meant something bad, though I had no idea why nor did I understand exactly what my mind was trying to tell me.

Did I have a bad feeling about something? Did it indicate that I needed to take a tax-funded vaccination somewhere? I had been working myself to the bone, so maybe I did deserve to take a nice long trip to somewhere like Hawaii to wind down.

Whatever the meaning could be, this strange figment just looked down at the coin and shook its head. “Now that’s too bad. I'm terribly sorry about losing the game, but I can’t change what Lady Fate has decided.”

This strange creature had tucked away the coin in its front pocket and got to his feet, hopefully a good sign that this thing was leaving my mind for good.

"Well, that was fun, but now it’s time for me to take my leave.” Like I had hopped, the creature had turned around and made its way to the door, grabbing the handle while the limo was still in motion, though thankfully there was nothing to worry about since this creature wasn’t real. “I would say I’d see you around, but well-

You’ll see

Leaving me with pretty ominous final words, the creature opened the door and stepped out of the car, taking its sweet time crossing the street that I must have imagined, leaving me at ease and hopping to never imagine whatever the fuck that thing was ever again.

“STACY WHAT ARE YOU DOING!?” Suddenly, Jon began to freak out, frantically rolling down the window and looking in the direction of the door. “WHY DID YOU OPEN THE DOOR!?”

“W-What!? I-I did no such thin-” w-wait...Did the door really open? That wasn’t just my mind fucking with me? Did that mean this whole time this creature was…

I look outside again and see the creature standing in the middle of the road, not a single car driving by this usually busy street, back towards me and standing as still as a statue, clearly mocking me!

Don’t know what this entity was or how it got into my limo, but I don’t care! This creature humiliated me by making me think I was losing my mind!

I wasn’t going to let him get away with this, and I will teach him right here and now what happens when you fuck with the future ruler of this contrary!

“STACY STOP! WHAT ARE YOU DOING!”

Wasting no time, I dashed out of the car and ran to the creature! Growling as I reached my arms out, ready to strangle the creature by its neck!

The closer I got, the more thrilling it felt knowing that it’d be by my hands that I was going to snuff the life out of him! The thought of his lifeless husk staring back at me filled me with utter glee!

I paid so many others to do this to the inconvenient people in my life, but never did I ever think it would feel so satisfying to have a chance to do it with my own two hands.

The fool didn’t even bother to try and get away, continuing to stand in the middle of the road like the moron he was, letting me catch up to him.

It was then that my hands were only inches away from the creature’s neck, ready to grab hold and squeeze it as hard as I could!...Only for the creature to disrepair right before my eyes...Though I didn’t have time to think about what had just happened, something more important had taken my attention.

*HOOOOOONK*

In the blink of an eye, there was a bus suddenly barrelling towards me, getting a glimpse of the horrified driver slamming on the breaks to try and stop it.

Didn’t look like it was going to stop in time, though; it was coming at me fast, and I had to act quickly; otherwise, it wou-
