Fated Witch 5.5

Fated Witch 5.5

Apr 25, 2025

This creature, which I once believed to be nothing more than a mere folk tale that the people came together to bear the title of Judgement, stood before me no taller than your average man, yet somehow it felt as if this creature had greatly towered over me.

It was more horrifying than those who had encountered this demon had described; its robe was pitch black and covered every itch of its body; black gloves covered its hands, which completely concealed this creature's true form.

Even looking into the small opening where it’s face should be reviled, nothing...Nothing but pure, never-ending darkness staring right back at me.

This creature was no man...No, what stood before me was a demon, one sent from hell itself to try and steal my very soul.

“Heh, impressed by my presence, are we?” the demon dare speaks in jest, acting as if we were acquaintances.

“...Quiet Demon!” Though mortified by this spawn of Satan, with God in my heart to protect me, I had to push past my fears and face this evil creature head-on if I had any chance of escaping with my life. “I dare not let myself fall for your devilish tricks!” I quickly raised my hand and mimicked the form of a cross on my chest, praying for God above to banish this demon back to once it came.

"Well, aren't you quite the rude woman?” Unfortunately, the demon managed to resist the symbol of Jesus and continued to haunt me with its blasphemous presence. “No matter, my interest is not to make friends with you, but to play ourselves a little game together.”

“G-game?” As the villagers had said, this demon’s goal was to force me to play that coin-flipping game in an attempt to curse my very soul. “You think I’m going to risk my very soul by playing the devil’s game? Well, I refuse to indulge in such a demotic game! So begone with you, demon!” I wave in hopes my strong will alone will banish this hell spawn for good, but of course I was too naive to think it’s that easy to send such a monster away.

“Not how it works, woman; after all, it is Lady Fate’s demand that we play this game together, so it is my duty to fulfil her desires no matter how hard you protest against it,” Lady Fate? Is this demon trying to trick me into believing that Satan is not who its master is?

It must not be smart if it thinks I’d fall for such an obvious lie, but unfortunately, not falling for its tricks alone would not be enough to free me from its demotic game.

“Not to worry though, the rules are quite simple to follow.” The hell spawn caught the coin in its hand, holding it up to me to reveal a picture of a disgusting snake slithering about in some sort of field.

Tails: You can get back to trying to clean that impossible stain for the rest of your days in peace.

Flipping the coin over revealed the outline of a head with a croaked cross that had been carved into it.

Heads: You may suffer a similar fate your dear friend had gone through.

Wait, my friend?

This demon can’t be talking about that whore who destroyed my chance to be with my soul mate. Because that homewrecker had what was coming to her, and to even imply I deserved to suffer the same fate is nothing more than Satan’s minion trying to whisper lies into my head to make me question my righteous actions.

It was way too late to berate this demon for comparing me to that wench, as it had already flicked its coin in the air, leaving me to watch helplessly as the coin began to spin in the air. The fate of my soul now rested in the hands of this demon...

It was then that I realised that wasn’t true and quickly thought of a way to save myself from having my soul dragged to hell!

“I SAY NAY TO YOUR TWISTED GAME, YOU FOUL BEAST!”

Before the coin could land back into the hands of the demon, I snatched it from the air and made a run for it while holding on to the coin tight so that I wouldn’t drop it.

It was a struggle to pick up speed as I had to be careful of my legs getting tangled and tripping over my dress. I don’t want to give that hell-spawn a single chance to capture me!

Heavy breaths left me as my heart raced just as fast as my legs. Even with God’s protection, I couldn’t help but fear that the demon could be right behind me at this very moment and could drag me down to hell, making my attempt at escape for nought.

I couldn’t resist giving in to that horrifying thought, quickly turning back to see how close the demon had been...Only to receive a great shock when I saw the creature hadn’t even attempted to chase after me, just standing there and watching me get further and further away.

I-I took the creature's coin! Why doesn’t it seem to care in the slightest? What is this servant of Satan’s plan?

“...A-Ahhhh!” because I let my curiosity get the best of me, my legs got tangled in my dress due to my neglect, and I ended up tripping over them, falling onto my side at the top of the steep hill by the river, which caused me to roll uncontrollably down the hill.

My body not only suffered the pain of the initial impact but also the further force of each roll being struck against my body, as well as the numerous cuts and bruises caused by the small, sharp rocks buried in the ground.

The worst of my pain wasn’t over, though...No, it had only just begun, as I didn’t just fall down any old hill...For at the bottom waited me the same thorny garden that had already claimed a few lives before…

“AHHHHHHHHH!”

I rolled right into the garden and experienced the excruciating torture of hundreds of sharp thorns pricing into almost every part of my body as I came to a complete stop.

My suffering only got worse from here as my body had twisted into an unnatural possession and was unable to move in any meaningful way due to the vines the thorns had been attached to having tangled all around my body and dug themselves deep into my skin, with any sudden attempts to move only causing them to dig themselves deeper into me and making me more stuck.

I couldn’t even scream for help or take any deep breaths as I could feel many of the tiny, sharp thorns pushing into my neck, not deep enough to piece through, but enough to know they would stab into it and cause me to bleed out.

I could do nothing but lay in this tangled bed of thorns that felt as sharp as knives digging into almost every inch of my body, tears pouring down my eyes, and rapid breaths I had to fight to keep in control of, or else I’d risk having them stab into my neck and quickly bringing my life to a swift end.

I prayed to God for someone to come...Anyone who could save me from this horrible torture!

"Well, well, ain’t this quite the interesting outcome?” My eyes grew wide in utter terror when I heard that familiar demotic voice ring in my ears, moving my pupils around trying to find where it could possibly be approaching from, yet I couldn’t find the demon and could only assume it was somewhere out of my vision. “It looks like you managed to take Fate into your own hands.”

It was then that the figure appeared before my eyes, the robbed demon leaning down and staring at me with the endless void where its head was meant to be. My heart felt like it came to a complete stop in fear of what this horrid creature was going to do to me.

A chuckle followed the demon as it stood up, reaching its hand to where my arm had been twisted into a mess above my head and took back its coin that the thorns had managed to keep wrapped around my hand and tucking it away in its pocket.

“Your one lucky woman, you know; not many have the opportunity to take Fate into their own hands like you did.” This heartless demon mocked me in my dying breaths, having not a shred of remorse over what it did to me, instead turning its back on me as it began to walk away. “Enjoy this path you carved for yourself, because you’ve certainly earned it.”

I could only watch helpless as the hell spawn who caused all this left me for dead, disappearing from my sight once a group of leaves flew by and obstructed the demon for only a split second, leaving me all alone to suffer in agony.

There was nothing I could do...I was completely trapped in this web of thrones, hours passing with the sun now starting to set and my body feeling weaker by the second, with my hope of getting out of this alive fading as quick as the daylight around me.

Not long for this world, I could only lay here and let the tears fall down my cheeks, my gaze set to the bright stars above, with only a simple question on my mind...Why? Why would God abandon me like this?

What did I do to deserve to suffer this cruel end!?
