Void Space

(CHAPTER - 3) Return from dark hell

(CHAPTER - 3) Return from dark hell

Apr 08, 2025

The scene shifted again, but this time, I found myself returning to the dark void. There was no light to be found. 'Where had the light gone?'

'Was it true that God died?'

'What was her power, anyway?'

'And which of her powers did she give me?'

There are so many questions I need answers to.

'Do all gods only give partial information?'

'What about the memories I saw?'

Suddenly, blood began dripping from my cheeks. There was a cut, but how? Before I could process it, the wound healed. I thought about what was happening—why blood was coming from the cut and why it hurt. It hit me: I was in my unconscious mind. That meant here, too, I could feel and have a body. This was something new, something unexpected.

How could I leave this place and return to the real world? I wandered through the darkness, but there was nothing to find. It was all just endless blackness. After a while, cuts began appearing on my limbs and legs. My body had no time to recover, and dozens of cuts appeared in an instant, with blood flowing freely. It hurt, but the pain didn’t last long. Before I could understand what was happening, the cuts disappeared, leaving no trace, and the pain ceased.

I didn’t know what had happened, but suddenly, my arm was found several meters away from me. I could see it clearly, but everything happened so quickly. From both sides, blood flowed like rivers descending from a mountain peak. The pain was unbearable, and I screamed with every ounce of energy I had. But there was no one to help me—only darkness. Then, in an instant, both of my legs and arms were severed from my body, and I fell. I fell endlessly, with no ground in sight, no end to the fall.

Then, in the blink of an eye, everything returned to normal. My limbs were back, intact with my body, and I was standing in a place I could not even identify. The darkness surrounded me, and I felt the searing pain again. My body felt as if it were on fire, yet no matter how much I screamed, nothing changed. It was a torment, unlike anything I could have imagined—an eternal hell. This was like I was in hell. I thought, 'Is this the weight of my sins burning me from the inside out?’

For hours, I endured endless pain, feeling as though every second dragged on like days. The screams reverberated in my ears, louder and louder, until it felt like my head would explode. Time passed, though I could not tell how long it had been. Years? Decades? In this place, time was meaningless. The pain, however, was not. It never stopped.

But eventually, I grew numb to the screams. Slowly, the pain became bearable, though not easy to endure. It felt like I had been there for eternity, but I stopped screaming. My eyes closed, and when I opened them again, I was in my newborn body again. The ceiling above me was made of wood, and I could see my parents' faces—both of them full of tears. I didn’t understand why they were crying, but I could sense their worry. There was also the same lady who had been there when I was born into this world.

Water touched my face. ‘Are these... tears?' I wondered. But it didn’t matter now.

Suddenly, my mother took me in her arms and hugged me, her voice full of emotion: “Please, don’t make your mother and father worry this much again.”

After all the pain, this hug felt like heaven. After the agony of what felt like years, this simple embrace was like being freed from hell. I had never known such comfort.

And yet, I remembered. I had only arrived in this land two days ago, and already, so much had happened. I saw glimpses of my past—some memories filled with sadness, others with light—and endured years of pain. I spoke with a god, received powers, and learned of my purpose. But now, what lay ahead of me on this planet? What was I meant to do here?

My father spoke, his voice filled with wonder: “Honey, what should we name him?”

I didn’t even realize I didn’t have a name. 'Wasn't I meant to be called Cape?'

My mother smiled softly. “Hmm, we’ll call him Cape. For others, you decide.”

Father walked back and forth, scratching his head. “What about Rayon? Isn’t it good?”

Mother raised an eyebrow. “What? That’s a good one. I think your choice is worse than mine.”

Father laughed gently. “Oh, and what else do you think of me?”

They both chuckled and continued talking for what felt like hours. For the first time in what felt like forever, I had people who worried about me. People who laughed with me joked with me. It was so different from the life I lived after Rohald’s death. Back then, no one cared, no one smiled. I had become a knight—a killing machine, stronger than my own king. I was known as NOVA, the Death Reaper.

They said I wasn’t human anymore, that I was a devil of hell, born into this world. And why not? The most powerful knight army from a rival kingdom was wiped out by my hand in a single day. Not a soul survived. If it weren’t for the kingdom’s reputation, I would have destroyed the last remaining kingdom other than mine. But then, just before my execution, I was betrayed by one of my most trusted companions. The night before I was to be executed, everything fell apart. But why?

[TWO YEARS LATER]

I opened my eyes and stood, stepping onto solid ground. It had taken only nine months to learn how to walk, and eleven months to speak. Today, I ventured to the storage room, seeking books to expand my knowledge of this world.
