Calliphora vicina (Diptera: Calliphoridae) is a species of blowfly common in Europe and America, but also has spread to some other countries down to Australia as non-native species. One of my favourite blowfly: they have derpy face, plump, and rather easy to catch. Unlike other flies, they often don't fly away when I approach them.
Btw, vicina means neighbour. Is naming this species Robineau-Desvoidy's attempt to flatter his neighbour?
