The entire manor buzzed with activity as it prepared all the items needed for the journey to court. She had been excited for several months; until now, she had spent all her time inside the manor and had visited Duke Esmeralda’s castle just once.
She missed her home. When she was younger and in good health, her family often went on outings to explore the downtown area of her city. Vendors filled the entire block with clothing, makeup, and various accessories. She would usually stop by her favorite restaurant that sold tacos de canasta. Her family would then sit down and enjoy a quick lunch before resuming their shopping.
She sighed; even if she was in another world, it had been years since she had gone on an outing with her family. The doctors hardly allowed her to leave the hospital due to the risk of infection, and when she was back home, she had just enough energy to make her way to the living room.
The pain had been horrible in her former life. Although she occasionally felt discomfort from her scar, it was nothing compared to the pain she had experienced before.
This is why she was able to enjoy her life here. It allowed her to explore the world without pain. She hoped the capital would be as bustling and full of life as the cities in her world.
There was a knock on the door as one of the servants came to retrieve her luggage.
Before she realized it, she found herself seated in a carriage on a journey that would last approximately a fortnight.
