My nemesis turns out to be my mate

Feeling of confinement

Feeling of confinement

Apr 23, 2025

I stirred awake to find Drew's side of the bed chillingly empty. Curiosity tugged at me—when had he slipped out? I stood up from bed and made my way to the bathroom, realizing with a jolt that my impromptu stay had left me without any of my belongings. I reluctantly grabbed Drew's toothbrush, used his soap, slathered on his lotion, and slipped into one of his oversized shirts. Looks like I’d be donning the pants he lent me yesterday once more.

Emerging from the room, I padded into the kitchen, my stomach growling in protest. "Felicity, are you skipping class today?" Patricia called out, her voice bright. I approached her as she handed me a plate piled high with fresh toast, beans, and eggs, accompanied by a steaming cup of cocoa. "No classes for me today; they start tomorrow. Thanks for checking in, Patricia." A thought struck me. "Oh, I heard that your mate Matt is returning from his trip."

Patricia's face lit up at the mention of his name, a giggle escaping her lips. "Where did you hear that? Yes, he is!" Truth be told, I had overheard her mention it to the head chef—who just so happens to be her mother. When it comes to work, though, her mother transforms into a model of professionalism, completely setting aside their familial bond.

"Upon his return, he assured me that we would finally get married, and I couldn't contain my excitement, Felicity!" I chuckled softly " congratulations" I say to her, my stomach grumbles and we both laughed and I began to enjoy my meal. A few moments later, the atmosphere shifted; I felt a piercing gaze upon me, and even Patricia's cheerful demeanor soured. Turning my head, I spotted Abigail standing there, her eyes puffy and red as if she had been crying. I quickly redirected my attention to my plate. "Get my breakfast delivered to my room, immediately," she commanded one of the kitchen staff. Her eyes remained fixed on me as she added, "I can't handle this smell," before storming out in a huff.

I resumed my meal, brushing off the encounter. "Are you alright?" Patricia asked, concern etched on her face. "Yeah, I just hope she moves on from her crush on my mate. I really don’t want any drama," I replied candidly. Patricia nodded in agreement. "Just keep ignoring her like you have been; it’s not worth your energy." She had a point. Although I don't blame her even I remembered how envious I felt when Frederick found his mate, but thankfully, those feelings have faded.

Where on earth is Drew? If I could just find him! It’s been two hours since breakfast, and he’s nowhere to be seen. Now, I’m stuck here with the Luna, who is enthusiastically sharing details about her new handbag collection. If this is all I have to do as a Luna, I’d be thrilled. "What do you think of this one? Isn’t it fabulous?" she giggles. "Yeah, it’s lovely. Um, Luna, may I go home to grab some of my things?" I asked. She paused for a moment before responding, "Yes, but you must take one of the pack warriors with you. You need to be cautious since your life is now intertwined with my son." I understood her concern, but I couldn’t shake the feeling of being confined. She continued, "I’ll assign Gideon to accompany you; he’ll ensure your safety from now on."

The Gideon she mentioned stepped forward to greet me, and I recognized him instantly; he was once a trusted subordinate of my father. "I'll be your guard from now on, ma'am," he declared, bowing slightly in deference. "I appreciate that, Gideon," I replied, a playful smile dancing on my lips.

After exchanging a few words with the Luna, Gideon led me to the car she had arranged for me.

We traveled in silence for a bit until he finally spoke up. "Congratulations, Felicity." I couldn't help but chuckle; I had expected him to be more formal. "Thanks, Gideon. How's Cara doing?" I inquired. "She's well, just feeling a bit heavy—she's expecting our little pup soon," he said, his excitement palpable.

His words sent me spiraling into thoughts of my own future with Drew. We would surely have beautiful pups together; with Drew's remarkable genes, our children would be stunning. Why was I dwelling on this now? It seemed I was more taken with him than I had realized.
