Vax the strongest weakling

Breaking the Shard

Breaking the Shard

May 12, 2025

The storm of dark magic swirled around Aisha, her figure barely visible within the vortex. The shard pulsed violently in her hands, its energy latching onto her like tendrils of shadow. She screamed—not in pain, but in defiance—as she tried to bend the overwhelming power to her will.

“Vax, we have to act now!” Selena shouted, her voice barely audible over the roaring energy.

Vax nodded, his own magic flaring to life. Golden light began to emanate from his hands, clashing against the oppressive darkness.

Scene: The Battle for the Shard

Selena took the lead, summoning a barrier to shield them from the worst of the shard’s energy. “I’ll keep her distracted. You focus on destroying that thing.”

Vax hesitated. “If we destroy it, won’t it—”

“Don’t think about that now!” Selena cut him off. “We don’t have a choice!”

With a deep breath, Vax surged forward, weaving through the chaotic blasts of magic erupting from the shard. Aisha saw him coming and unleashed a barrage of attacks, her face twisted in rage and desperation.

“You think you can stop me?!” she screamed, her voice distorted by the shard’s influence.

Vax dodged the attacks, his movements fluid and precise. “Aisha, this isn’t you! You’re letting it control you!”

“I don’t care!” she snapped. “I won’t let you take everything from me!”

Selena circled around, using her own magic to disrupt Aisha’s focus. Each spell she cast chipped away at the protective field surrounding the shard.

“Vax, now!” Selena shouted as an opening appeared.

Vax didn’t hesitate. Channeling all his energy, he aimed directly for the shard. A golden spear of light shot from his hands, piercing through the dark vortex and striking the relic dead center.

Scene: The Shard’s Collapse

The shard cracked, a high-pitched scream echoing through the room as its energy spiraled out of control. Aisha dropped it, clutching her head as the dark magic receded from her body.

“Get back!” Selena yelled, pulling Vax away as the shard began to implode.

The relic shattered with a deafening explosion, sending shockwaves through the vault. When the dust settled, the room was eerily silent.

Vax and Selena cautiously approached Aisha, who lay unconscious amidst the rubble. The shard’s remains were scattered around her, the once-malevolent energy completely gone.

“She’s alive,” Selena said after checking her pulse.

Vax exhaled in relief, his shoulders sagging. “What happens now?”

Selena gave him a grim look. “Now, we figure out how to clean up this mess before the entire academy finds out.”

Scene: Aisha’s Awakening

Hours later, Aisha stirred, her eyes fluttering open to see Vax and Selena watching over her.

“You… saved me?” she asked weakly, her voice filled with disbelief.

“Don’t get the wrong idea,” Selena said bluntly. “You almost killed all of us. We didn’t have much of a choice.”

Aisha sat up slowly, her expression conflicted. “The shard… it promised me power. I thought I could control it.”

“You were wrong,” Vax said, his tone firm but not unkind. “Power like that doesn’t come without a price.”

Aisha looked down, shame flickering across her face. “I didn’t want to lose. Not to you.”

Vax sighed. “This isn’t about winning or losing, Aisha. We’re all stuck in this world together, whether we like it or not. If we keep fighting each other, none of us will survive.”

For a moment, Aisha said nothing. Then she nodded, her voice barely above a whisper. “I’m sorry.”

Scene: The Principal’s Verdict

The next day, Vax and Selena were summoned to the principal’s office. Aisha was already there, looking uncharacteristically subdued.

The principal regarded them with a stern expression. “I’ve heard the full account of what happened last night. The three of you violated countless rules and put the entire academy at risk.”

Vax started to speak, but the principal held up a hand. “However, I also understand that your actions may have prevented a far greater catastrophe.”

He turned to Aisha. “As for you, your use of forbidden relics is inexcusable. You’ll be stripped of your rank and placed under probation. Any further misconduct will result in your expulsion.”

Aisha lowered her head, accepting the punishment without argument.

The principal then looked at Vax and Selena. “As for you two… I expect you to keep a closer eye on each other from now on. The academy has enough problems without students taking matters into their own hands.”

“Yes, sir,” they said in unison.

Scene: An Uneasy Alliance

As they left the office, Aisha stopped Vax in the hallway.

“I meant what I said earlier,” she told him. “I’m sorry.”

Vax studied her for a moment before nodding. “Just don’t let it happen again.”

Aisha hesitated, then extended a hand. “Maybe… we don’t have to be enemies.”

Selena raised an eyebrow but said nothing as Vax shook Aisha’s hand.

“Let’s take it one step at a time,” he said, a faint smile tugging at his lips.

As they parted ways, Vax couldn’t shake the feeling that this was only the beginning. The shard was destroyed, but the secrets it hinted at—and the danger it represented—were far from gone.
