Melina heard something in the distance, a howl she couldn't ignore... Her blood boiled. She trembled. She felt dizzy.
“...Ugh... What... What is this?”
She felt her feet moving on their own, as if she were being pulled.
“Am I being summoned?”
She looked at Atrix and Gohoah.
“They won't be able to follow me if I go…”
But she didn't care. She didn't want to be protected anymore. She didn't want to be the one who followed others. Not today.
“Hey,” she called out to them.
“I’m going alone,” she said coldly.
They protested.
“We're not letting you go alone, Melina!”
But it was too late. Her body was already racing through the trees. She moved faster than she'd ever run. It was no longer Melina running — it was something primal, ancient.
Gohoah and Atrix ran after her, struggling to keep up.
“Damn, she’s fast!” said Atrix.
“She’s no longer herself,” said Gohoah.
Suddenly, the forest grew dark. The birds stopped singing. The wind vanished. Melina slowed down.
She saw it.
A bird of fire.
A phoenix.
It landed in front of her, gigantic, majestic… and terrifying.
Its eyes looked at her with contempt.
It opened its wings and flew at her like a bullet.
Melina didn’t dodge. She jumped at the phoenix with her claws ready.
She screamed.
“Vooceee vai morrer!!”
She sliced the phoenix with a single swipe.
But it wasn’t enough.
It burned.
Her body caught fire.
She fell to the ground.
Gohoah arrived.
“Melina!”
He covered her with his body and took the fire for her.
“Damn it! Damn it!” he shouted.
Atrix cast water magic, extinguishing the flames.
Melina stood up, angry.
“Don’t touch me!”
Her eyes glowed red.
She charged at the phoenix again.
She bit its neck.
She tore off one of its wings.
She howled.
The phoenix vanished in flames.
They had won.
But Melina was still hungry.
She looked at the phoenix’s ashes.
She inhaled.
“Delicious…”
Atrix was shocked.
“You… are you eating it?”
Gohoah pulled her away.
“Let her be…”
They moved on.
They found another enemy.
A mutant creature.
A Barão Cockroach.
It had the size of a bus.
Dozens of arms.
A steel exoskeleton.
It attacked.
Melina didn’t dodge.
She punched it.
But it didn’t budge.
Atrix fired fire magic.
Nothing.
Gohoah grabbed its leg and threw it into the air.
Melina jumped.
She spun in the air and landed on its head.
“Take thiiis!”
She roared.
She began biting it.
It screamed.
It hit Melina.
She fell to the ground.
She got up again.
Her mouth was bleeding.
Her claws, broken.
But her eyes…
Shining.
“I’m not done yet…”
She climbed onto the creature.
She tore off its arms.
She stuck her claws into its eyes.
She screamed.
“That’s what you get!!!”
It died.
Melina looked at her hands.
Covered in blood.
She laughed.
“I feel alive…”
She devoured the monster.
Gohoah and Atrix watched in silence.
They didn’t recognize her anymore.
She wasn’t Melina.
She was… something else.
Then, a scream echoed through the forest.
A high-pitched, metallic voice.
“You’ve awakened the Elite…”
Melina smiled.
“Good…”
Her claws grew longer.
Her teeth sharper.
Her body... darker.
“I’m ready…”
