Chains of Misadventure Souls

Father Dunn's Mercy

Father Dunn's Mercy

May 21, 2025

Father Holiness: Kill... Kill that pest!

Father Dunn suddenly raised a cross and recited a secret prayer from an ancient book, causing the demon to shriek in agony. Moments later, its body erupted in a violent explosion.

The surrounding soldiers were thrown back, staring in shock at the aftermath. As Father Dunn rushed forward, a soldier held Xeon back, shielding him from danger.

From the remains of the demon’s mangled flesh, the priest pulled out a young, unconscious Albrecht—now in human form. Unfazed by the blood soaking his robes, Father Dunn cradled the boy in his arms, even as soldiers closed in around him.

Father Dunn: Please, I beg you all—curse or not, he’s still a child, and his humanity is still within him!

Father Holiness: A child? A child who hurted our residents almost 2 times! This is last time every blood moon exists, so he must be executed!

Sire Angelo: It will be our highest general's decision. Sire Antavion?

Then the highest-ranking general stepped forward, his expression stern and furious as he approached. Holiness watched with a smug smile, clearly pleased as the moment of judgment neared.

And yet, somehow...

Sire Antavion: Well done, Father Dunn. We hadn’t expected you to be the only one capable of subduing the cursed child. After three attempts to neutralize and find a way to save him, we’re relieved. The Pious officials were on the verge of approving his execution this third time—if not for you. You were the only priest who stood in his defense.

Father Dunn: I cannot bear to see children perish, whether by the corruption of the Demon King's minions or his own blood. Please, allow me the honor of caring for him, sire.

Sire Antavion: I will take you at your word—but if he loses control and takes innocent lives, we’ll have no choice but to end him. We’ve already seen his struggle and hesitation when facing the Demon King's blood.

Father Dunn bowed his head in sorrow, accepting the weight of his fate as he carried Albrecht in his arms.
