I looked at his face examining it, trying to find a reason for his tone. Could his eyes get any greener? A hint of a glow flickered inside of them and for a brief moment I saw hidden facets under their smooth surface.
Breaker cocked an eyebrow. “Uhm, Eladren,” he said.
“Yes,” I replied still staring at his face.
“You’re still on me,” He replied.
“Oh! I’m sorry,” I said lifting my arms from his waist and scurrying off of him.
“Don’t worry about it.”
Breaker stood up from the bed putting his hands on his hips as he took in the room. He whistled. “Damn, guy doesn’t play around when it comes to home decoration. Though, I’m not surprised. The siren’s always did like their trinkets,” he said flicking his finger on a little gold bauble on a table.
“Sirens, oh yeah! Why are they all over the walls here? Did this place use to belong to them or something?”
“No, when the dungeon was sealed off the Sahuagin and the sirens decided to join up in order increase their chances of survival. Over a few thousands years they started marrying, having little minnows, and now,” he said motioning around the room and picking up a fruit from a bowl on the table.
I immediately began imagining a siren and a fishy Sahuagin kissing. Not my cup of tea, but then again I just had to stop myself from imagining a mimics tongue around me. So, its not like I can judge.
“I guess it worked out well for them,” I said.
“Eh, yes and no. They are surviving but their numbers are low. Its part of what makes them dangerous. It might not look like it, but they are desperate. They know their tribe could be wiped out in a second by other monsters, the water stones failing, or even the dungeon falling further into disrepair.”
“Maybe we could help them.”
“Not a chance sunshine, getting you out of here is one thing. A whole tribe is another. He would definitely notice that.”
“But, doesn’t he let monsters out sometimes anyway? Why can’t he let them out.”
“Its complicated,” he said sighing and looking to the floor. “Believe me, they have probably already tried appealing to him.”
Sadness crept over me. I know I’m technically a prisoner here and not a guest, but thinking about the tribe being another victim of this place didn’t sit right with me. I’d find a way to help them somehow. I don’t know how yet, but there has to be a way.
“Hey, is there still hot water? Do you mind if I get in?” Breaker asked interrupting my thoughts.
“I’m mean, there’s the water from when I was in,” I replied only half paying attention.
“Works for me,” Breaker said lifting his shirt.
“Wait a minute,” I said turning towards him, “Did you watch me earlier, you freak?” I picked up a pillow off the bed and threw it at him. He caught it before it hit him.
“And if I did?” He said walking up to me and leaning in. I could see his tongue run across the back of his teeth as he smirked. Oh, no. Heat raced across my face. I was caught in his gaze - a mouse in a trap. A sexy purple trap, but a trap. His expression dropped and he sighed.
“Don’t worry, I didn’t see anything. I was a bag on the bed, remember? Hard to see much of the room beyond all those damn pillows. He tossed the one I threw back onto the bed. Besides, I’m not into watching without permission.”
So he would if I asked?
Breaker began undoing his pants.
“Oh, sorry!” I said turning around. I could hear light chuckles coming from him.
“Look away if you want, or don’t. I don’t care either way. Besides, word on the street is that you have wandering eyes.”
“What? I do not!” I exclaimed turning back towards him. He was now sitting in the bath, his hair floating on top of the water. The swirling colors from the potions making the water opaque so I could only see his upper body. The rest was hidden under blue and pink foam. Water dripped down from his chin to his chest. My eyes following their downward trail across his body. I had almost forgotten how much he looked like a statue. Shit, maybe I do have wandering eyes. I pulled my focus back up to his face. Breaker smiled at me.
“When the hunters caught you and brought you here, one of them said you had wandering eyes because when you woke up he caught you checking him out.”
“That’s what he said? I thought he was just telling them I woke up.” Embarrassment ran across my face.
“So tell me, will you just look at anyone in eye reach or…”
“Excuse me!” I said taking my hand and splashing him with water from the edge of the tub. Breaker took my wrist.
“or do you have some kind of preference I need to be aware of?”
Some bonus art I did of Breaker and Eladren all up on each other. Its also now the new series banner, because I like how it turned out<3
