Chapter 3

Chapter 3

May 31, 2025

                                                                                           Chapter 3

It’s been almost a month since everything happened. I’ve adjusted to being a hybrid fairly well; things are still super heightened and overstimulating, but it’s become easier to calm myself and keep everything under control. Willow has been an amazing teacher with all things Lycan. My vampyre side, it's a new trail every day. I’ve broken a lot of things with my new strength, and I’ve slammed into multiple trees trying to adjust to my speed. I’m still a work in progress. I’ve been feeding on animals to tame my thirst, and then eating them after to satiate the constant hunger from my fast metabolism. It’s been a hard adjustment, but I’m doing the best I can.

Willow and I are currently camping deep in the woods, she's been teaching me how to hunt and catch prey in my Lycan form. It’s been an amazing experience. When you're a wolf, it’s so amazing. You can pick up smells from miles away, see the tiniest movements, and hear everything. It’s been hard to focus all my heightened senses to help me stalk prey and catch it, but I’m getting better day by day, or so she says.
“Ready to eat?” she asks me as she plops a deer on the ground. I cringe at the thought of more raw meat, but she insists that it's the best for a newborn Lycan, plus to blood helps curb my vampyre cravings. “I guess. I don’t think I’ll ever get used to eating raw meat.” She just shakes her head at me, “It’s not that bad.”
“Says the one who's been doing this for a long time.” She ignores me and quickly prepares the deer. We eat in silence, just enjoying the sounds a nature. I start to feel odd, like someone is watching us. I shrug it off, Willow doesn’t seem to notice anything so I try not to dwell on it.

We walk deeper into the woods to the little clearing, where she has been teaching me how to fight and protect myself after that pathetic fight with Bane. I’ve gotten better, I’ve been able to pin her and win, but I still have a long way to go.
She slams me on the ground for the fourth time, “Damn it! I thought I had you that time.” i growl out. She helps pull me up, “You’re getting better, Raven, it just takes time.” I know she’s right, it just gets frustrating sometimes. That odd feeling comes back, so I look around, but I don’t see anything. Willow turns to me, “So you feel it too?”
“Yeah, I don’t like this feeling. I don’t smell or hear anything, but I know something or someone is watching us.”  She walks around, scenting the air to no avail. We decided to head back to camp and pack up.

We are almost fully packed up when I pick up a certain scent. I should have guessed it would be him. I sigh and look around. I see something move on my left to attack, but I’m quicker. I grab him by the throat and slam him to the ground. “Gotta be quicker than that,” I say with a smirk. Alec is looking up at me proudly, “You’ve improved quite a bit. Did you need to slam me so hard?” I laugh as he groans in pain.
“You’re the one trying to sneak up on me. You know I’m going to try to take you down and not hold back. I may be better, but I still have a long way to go.” He gets up and brushes himself off. I walk over to him and kiss him on the cheek, “Sorry, not sorry, babe.”

I send him off to help pack up the rest of the things. I look around, double-checking that the area is clean. I see some standing behind a tree watching us. I freeze, not willing to take my eyes off of him. I snap my fingers, gaining Willow and Alec’s attention. They slowly walk over to me.
“What should we do?” Alec asks. I don’t respond, I keep eye contact with the stranger. I don’t sense immediate danger from him, but I keep my guard up. The man moves so that he is fully visible. He’s tall, skinny, with some muscle definition, dark hair, and blue eyes. I can’t help but feel like those blue eyes are familiar, but nothing comes to mind.

Alec turns to me, “Should we kill him?” I smack him in the arm, “What the fuck is wrong with you?” I felt weirdly protective, what the fuck is going on with me.
I turn back to the man, he’s still watching me. I move to the side, and his gaze follows. “Who are you?”
“My name is Lucas Underwood.” I didn’t think he would answer. Willow clears her throat, causing him to look at her. “What do you want?” He doesn’t respond and looks back at me. Something different this time, his eyes are bluer than before. It feels like someone drop kicks me. I’m suddenly flying backwards and slam into a tree. “Oof. What the fuck was that?” I lay on the ground for a second, feeling a little dazed.
I slowly get up and make my way towards Lucas. “That was you, wasn’t it? You're a warlock, right?” He nods, taking a step towards me, but freezes when Willow lets out a warning growl. I turn to her, “Back off, Willow.” She gives me a look but listens. I turn back to Lucas, “What do you want?”
“I want to study you. You’re a hybrid, correct?” I nod in response. “Hybrids are still fairly new to the supernatural world. Not many exist, and thus, there is limited information. I’m a scholar who studies all different types of supernatural beings. I heard rumors that there may have been a hybrid in the area. So I came to find you, and study you.” I guess that makes sense.

Willow comes up next to me, “I get the whole study thing, but why did you send her flying into a damn tree?” Lucas sighs, “The best way to study is to test her abilities to tolerate pain and control emotions and powers, well-being attacked.” I’m down for that, I’ll consider it extra training. I shoo Willow away, she grabs Alec, and they both go sit down to watch.
“Let’s do this, don’t go easy on me now, Lucas.” He smiles at me, I watch as his eyes glow bright blue again. Suddenly, my bones start shifting and cracking, he’s forcing my shift. I try to resist and grit through the pain. I manage to hold out for 10 minutes, but give in and shift forms. “Come at me!” He demands.
I charge at him and he easily dodges me, I keep after him until I collapse on the ground panting for air. I shift back and slam my fist on the ground, I couldn’t get him once. He’s very agile and quick for only being a warlock. He watches me while I catch my breath, “You’re quick, but you have some learning to do. You should study your opponents and learn the best way to take them out. Being fast and strong won’t always be enough. You shift forms effortlessly and can withstand pain well, which is good.” I don’t have the energy to talk anymore, this man exhausted me in ways I never knew possible. Alec and Willow come back over to us. “That was interesting to watch,” Alec says.
Alec holds out his hand, “I’m Alec.” Lucas shakes his hand. Willow and I also introduced ourselves officially. Lucas seems like a nice guy, I can see us all being pretty good friends. I still can’t shake the feeling like I know him, but I don’t remember ever seeing him before.
Lucas clears his throat, “How about a sparing match between Raven and Alec?” Alec and I both look at each other and then back at Lucas, “Why?” we say in unison. He rolls his eyes at us, “Must I explain everything? If you spar, I can see and track your strength and speed, as well as see how a female hybrid compares to a male vampyre.” I shrug my shoulders and get into sparring position, and Alec follows.
I make the first move. I shift my stance like I’m going to punch him, he guards, and I take the shot and swipe his feet out from under him. He grunts, landing hard on the ground. I don’t give him he chance to recover, I tackle him fully down, locking his arm and head between my legs, squeezing hard. After a few seconds, I feel him tapping my leg, so I let him go and help him up.
I flex my muscles at him, “Looks like I’m the stronger one.” He chuckles and rolls his eyes, “I’ll get your ass next time.” Lucas scoffs, “Yeah, right. You have no chance in hell of beating her.” Alec growls lowly, “Excuse me? What the hell are you saying?” I was confused by Alec's sudden shift in attitude. Why is he angry?
“Simple, females are almost always stronger, plus she’s a hybrid. You will never fully match her power.” Alec walks off muttering under his breath. I chose to ignore his attitude and turn towards Lucas, “Do you need anything else? It’s getting late, and we should head home.”
“No, I have all I need for now. Thank you for your time.” He walks away before I can say anything else to him. Such an odd man, but to each their own, I suppose. I trail after my grumpy man and hug him from behind. “Don’t let him get to you. Let’s go home and rest, it’s been a long day.” I see Willow nod in agreement, we pile into the car and head towards home.

I slept like the dead, and it still wasn’t enough sleep. I am so fucking exausted, I’ve been laying in bed for the last 20 minutes contemplating if food was worth getting up for. My stomach protests loudly for food again. “Ugh,” I roll out of bed and get dressed in a comfy outfit. Once downstairs, I make a big bowl of cereal because I’m too lazy to cook a full meal.
I go outside and find Willow and Alec sparing, “What is wrong with you two, don’t you know it’s okay to take a break?” They stop and come over to me. Willow places her hand on my shoulder, “Unlike you, sleeping beauty, some of us like sparing and working out normally.”
“Which is something I will never understand. Doing nothing is the way to go.” She just shakes her head at me, I stick my tongue out at her, and continue to enjoy my cereal.
Alec tries to steal my food and receives a smack on the back of the head. “Don’t you know better than to steal a woman's food?” He looks at me with big puppy eyes, trying to sway me…It doesn’t work, I flick him in the forehead and he dramatically collapses on the ground.
“Willow, are we doing anything today?” Before she has a chance to answer me, I hear a scream and someone slams into the ground. She groans as she pulls herself into a sitting position. I stare at her in awe, she has beautiful white wings! Willow goes over to her and helps her up.
Willow pulls her into a hug, “I see you finally got your wings! Congrats, girly.” I had no idea who this was, but she’s adorable. She has short blond hair with big brown eyes, freckles scatter her face, and she honestly reminds me of a little fairy with how short she is. They look fairly similar, except Willow has long blond hair and unique blueish purple eyes, and is a little taller.
“Who’s this?” I ask as I walk over to them. The girl holds out her hand, “I’m Vivia! You must be Raven, I’ve heard so much about you, I’m so excited to meet you!” She seems very bubbly and energetic. I shake her hand, “I am, it’s nice to meet you.” We all sit together at the picnic table to talk. “If you don’t mind my asking, how do you have wings?”
She smiles at me, “ I’m an angel. I finally earned my wings a few days ago! That’s why I wanted to come by and also why I crash landed, I’m still learning.” I did not know that angels existed; that's pretty awesome. “How do you earn your wings? I assumed angels would be born with their wings.”

“We aren’t born with them, despite all of history saying that. We have to earn them by doing good deeds and helping people. The best way to earn them is when you save someone who’s struggling and heal their broken soul, which is difficult. But I earned mine by doing good deeds, I finally hit the 100 mark.”
100 true good deeds would be hard to do. She seems like a very sweet girl, so I bet she did it with ease. “We recently discovered a new, rare angel ability! Which allows an angel to turn a human into an angel.”
“Woah, that is so amazing!” Willow exclaims. I look at Vivia, she's practically bouncing off her seat with excitement, “I have that rare angel ability!” she beamed at us.

“That’s amazing! Have you had the chance to use it yet?” Willow asks her. She shakes her head, “Not yet, that is part of the other reason I stopped by. I was kinda hoping one of you would let me try out my powers on you.” She looks at us pleadingly. I don’t think I could handle another transition right now, as awesome as it would be. “I don’t think I can do it, I’m already struggling with learning how to control my hybrid powers, I don’t think adding more to myself is a good idea.” She nods, “I completely understand!”
“I’ll do it.” We both look at Willow, a little shocked. I never thought she would say yes to this kind of thing. Either way, I’ll support her in whatever she wants to do. Vivia claps her hands together excitedly, “Really? You’ll let me try my powers?” Willow smiles at her, “Of course, It would be fucking awesome to have wings! Let’s do this thing……Uh, wait, how does this even work?” Vivia and I both chuckle at Willow's sudden flustered words, leaving it to her to get a bit ahead of herself.
“From what I’ve studied, it should be a straightforward process. It will hurt, but it shouldn’t take long.” Vivia explained. Vivia and Willow both got up and went to where there was a little more space. “Please remove your shirt.” Willow complied. Vivia placed her hand onto Willow's upper back and started chanting in a foreign language. After a few seconds, her hands began glowing. Willow groaned in pain as the wings slowly started growing from her back. Within a few minutes, the wings were fully formed. They were beautiful, they were a light purple color.
“Willow, your wings look amazing!” I watch as she stretches them out, trying to get used to the feeling, I assume. “I suppose I should test them out.” She takes off into the sky with ease and disappears within seconds.

Chapter 3 took me all day, I'm not sure why. Rewriting from what you wrote when you were younger is surprisingly challenging! Things I wrote were so childish or stupid or just didn't make sense.. so many plot holes hahaha. I hope so far it's flowing good and is a good story, I'm really trying my best.

This is a story of two women who traverse a previously hidden world. Willow was forced into the life of a supernatural being, while Raven chose it willingly. It drastically changed their lives, and they have to learn to navigate and survive.
They discover things they could have never imagined, making life-long friends…and enemies. Constantly going through great times and great sorrows, it seems like a never-ending cycle of chaos. How will our two girls fare in this world?

This is a more unconventional view on supernatural beings. Yes, they live a very long life and could live forever. They aren’t truly immortal, they can be harmed and killed; their powerful but not invincible. Being supernatural is not the saving grace you’d think it would be. Does this interest you…well then, my dear reader, I think this book is for you.

This has been added a few times because I keep rewriting, but this will be the final one. I will be taking my time to write and make this good. So uploads will be infrequent, but I hope you enjoy it!
