A few days had passed since the twin sisters ran away from home. When they first leave the borders of the forest, they finally get to see the vastness of the land that awaits them on their very first journey. Ericht was excitedly trembling, eyes sparkling wide with awe while Reiner felt wary about leaving their home. Days and nights wandering around the vastness of lands without any clue where to go eventually, their journey came to a halt.
“Ericht, we’ve been walking and flying around since five days ago. I don’t think we’ll find anything at this rate. Our food might depleted if we keep doing this. Can we just go home?” Reiner tried to reason with her sister as their food and drinking water weren’t enough to take them for a few days walking and flying aimlessly. Ericht, on the other hand, does not bother about the food and tells her sister not to worry, “It’s ok Reiner, maybe tomorrow we might see other people besides us along the way.” As Ericht flops down on her sleeping bag she holds Reiner’s hand and closes her eyes. “ Tomorrow will be different. I’m sure of it.” Reiner was a little relieved because of her sister’s words but still felt a little anxious that maybe nothing would change tomorrow, and eventually she fell asleep.
-----Morning------
Reiner was awakened by her sister, Ericht, who usually didn't wake up this early. Rubbing her eyes, Reiner asked, "What is it?" Ericht began packing her things and replied, "I just spotted a village up ahead; it’s quite close from here!" Ericht’s words made Reiner’s eyes widen in astonishment at her sudden announcement about waking up earlier than her to find a village, and how eager Ericht was to explore the outside world. As Reiner had never once thought about going to the outside world. She always thought that being with her older sister and Master was enough for her. She'd rather spend her life studying magic and witchcraft in the woods waiting for her Master to come home, but seeing her sister’s determined eyes, she felt a spark in her that she might felt the last time when Ericht beat her on the witch’s duel. As Reiner realizes that, she begins to pack her things too and follows her sister as they fly towards the village.
“Hurry up, Reiner!” Said Ericht.
“I’m coming!”
The twin witches finally embarked on their very first journey. Traveling away, way out of the familiar woods, as they fly and walk without a navigation device or a map, Reiner and Ericht, finally saw a nearby village and head straight there. As they went there, they were excited when they saw that the village was, actually a village of Beast-men.
“ Look, this must be a village of beastmen!” Excited, Ericht flew down along with Reiner hiding away their flying staff.
They had never seen a Beast folks before since they were in the woods for all of their life, they only read them in their Master’s books. They roamed around the village like some foreign tourists till it was almost dawn, Reiner asked her sister where should they sleep and Ericht responded that they should camp in the village. When they set out a camp the Beast folks took a piqued at their strange behavior. Then a lady curiously approaches them and asks, “Are you two girls camping on the night?” Ericht responded with a yes and the beast lady gave a worried look since the two of them were kids so she invited them to sleep in her house for the night. The two gladly accepted it and went to the beast lady’s house. The lady was stunned as she wondered why they wore a pointy hat and robes she then asked them where they came from and Reiner told her that they came in the Northenland Woods and they were witch apprentices on a journey to find their lost Master. The lady said in a curious tone, “It’s been years since a witch came into this village”. The two piqued interest as to what the lady had said and asked her about it. The lady then told them a long story about the Moonlit Witch From the Northenlands, it said it was two years ago, and the two caught up with it as they knew that was their Master. The lady said that the Moonlit Witch came to the village very often, selling her potions and helping troubled villagers.
But after the rumors about the recent activity of the Church, the Moonlit Witch became less and less came to visit. The two asked her about where she went to. Unfortunately, the lady didn’t know since the witch took off with a flying staff. Reiner then asked again, “Pardon me lady, but what was about the activity of the ‘Church’? You called?” Then, the lady spoke in a serious tone, “You girls didn’t know?” Ericht and Reiner felt a shiver of their spine as the lady changed her tone. The beast lady continued her words, “All I know is that it started in the Human Territory, The Capital of Layt. The pope of the Church had declared to kill all witches as they were treated as heretics, the pope called them servants of the Devil. The declaration of the Church had spread across all of the territories, as well as in the Beast Territory. However, some of the villages of the beast countryside do not agree with the declaration like this village because witches like the Moonlit Witch gave us a great help with our people. That’s why you two were lucky to have found this village.” As the beast lady was done talking, Reiner became anxious about the story they had heard. Reiner looked at her sister in disbelieved that they might have been in danger all along when they left the woods and somehow if they didn’t find the village that accepted witches they might have been dead but Ericht didn’t waver.
Ericht didn’t shake up and looked straight to the lady and asked what should they do. Suddenly, the husband of the beast lady comes into the house and was introduced by the lady. They continued their conversation and talked until they fell asleep. In the morning, they received a map. The twin witches were grateful to the married beast couple for their assistance as they decided to continue their journey. Reiner contemplated persuading her sister to return to their home and plan more thoroughly finding their master; however, she trusted her sister’s abilities and chose to follow her faithfully. Just before they were about to leave the village, Ericht suggested that they should sell potions and assist the troubled villagers, just as their master had done during her visit. Reiner agreed, and together they began to sell potions and help those in need, finding fulfillment in their efforts. They left and gave the beast lady and her husband a good luck and fertility charm as a thank-you for letting them stay for the night.
