Albrecht: Good morning, ladies and gentlemen! I have some good news to share!
Sire Berk: Looks like he’s finally found himself a lady!
The off-duty Pious soldiers gathered with Sire Berk burst into laughter at his teasing. Albrecht chuckled, rubbing the back of his neck with a sheepish smile.
Albrecht: Hehe, she's just a guest, that’s all. And for the record, I’m still only 19, Sire Berk! Tsk, drunk again this early? Can’t wait for the next revelry, huh?
Sire Berk: "Of course lad, ahei! I’m just glad to see you finally have a damsel to court!"
Albrecht: *Throws his arms and legs out dramatically, face flushed with embarrassment* Ugh—Sire Berk!
Meanwhile, a short distance away, Kaye stood silently, glaring at her hand. It had swollen from the force of Albrecht’s grip earlier. She bit back tears, her expression a mix of pain and quiet anger.
Moments later, they sat at a table bathed in warm sunlight. Albrecht munched on a thick slice of bread stuffed with ham and cheese. He turned to Kaye with a playful grin, holding out a piece.
Albrecht: "Care for a bite, little lady?"
Kaye shook her head, politely refusing. Albrecht shrugged and continued eating. Meanwhile, Kaye’s expression shifted—caught somewhere between shock and disgust—as she stared off in another direction, her thoughts clearly unsettled.
