The last witch wise

Chapter 2 The World Beyond Reason

Chapter 2 The World Beyond Reason

Jun 01, 2025

When he opened his eyes, everything was quiet.

A voice greeted him.

“Welcome, Witch Number Nine. What is your name?”

“...Satori,” he replied.

The scent of old books and dried herbs filled the air. Satori blinked against the warm glow of candlelight flickering across wooden walls. His head throbbed.

The last thing he remembered was running… screaming… changing.

“Where... am I?”

A soft voice answered from nearby.

“You’re safe now,” said a silver-haired girl sitting beside him. “You’re in our sanctuary.”

Satori sat up suddenly. His hands—his body—still felt unfamiliar. Feminine. Lighter.

“That... really happened?” he whispered.

“You awakened Lady Adel,” the girl replied. “I’m Marie Lee. I’m a witch. And… so are you.”

He stared at her, confusion tightening in his chest.

“No. No, this must be a mistake. I’m not a witch. I’m not even a girl!”

“You were… once,” Marie said softly. “But your soul has revealed its true form. You are Witch Number Nine.”

Satori’s hands trembled.

“Why me?”

Before Marie could answer, a frail voice called from the hallway. A wrinkled woman entered, leaning on a staff etched with glowing runes.

“So the last one has awakened,” she said. “I am Sasha—once the Grand Witch. It’s time you learned the truth.”

Sasha lowered herself into a wooden chair with a sigh.

“This  is not your world,” she began. “You’ve crossed the Veil—a boundary between your realm and ours. Your soul answered the ancient call.” This is witch santuary

“The call…?” Satori echoed. that voice

“Miasa,” Sasha explained. “The soul-energy that connects all living things. When this world cries out, those who carry the spark respond.”

Her eyes held a deep sorrow.

“You have a good heart. That’s why you’re here.”

“Is this for real?” Satori mumbled. “What am I supposed to do?”

Marie stepped in gently.

“Long ago, the gods shaped this world. Celtus, the god of creation, molded the land and gave humanity form. Athen, the god of knowledge, gifted them thought. And Sophie, the god of greed, gave them desire.”

“Desire turned to chaos,” she continued. “Humans built cities of steel and weapons capable of wiping out thousands.”

Sasha took over again.

“To restore balance, the gods created Nine Witches—immortal messengers. Each born with the Miasa Gland, a magical organ that allows reality to bend to their will.”

She looked directly at Satori.

“You are the final witch—the last light in a world sinking into shadow.”

Satori’s thoughts swirled. Just days ago, he was a culinary student with one dream: to open a restaurant with his mom.

Now… he had a different body. A different name. A different destiny.

“This is too much,” he said quietly. “I didn’t ask for this. I just want to go home…”

“Who is Adel? I’m Satori.”

Sasha smiled sadly.

“None of us choose to be born with power. But the world needs you.”

She lifted her staff, and the room dimmed. Floating images shimmered in the air—cities in flames, humans in advanced armor battling monsters with glowing red eyes.

“The Demonkin,” she said. “Creatures born from corrupted souls. They tempt humans with power—at the cost of their humanity.”

“They are returning. Stronger than ever.”

Satori turned away, overwhelmed.

“This can’t be real…”

“You don’t understand. I’m not brave. I’m not strong. I was just... invisible. And now you want me to save the world?”

He clenched his fists.

“I just want to go back home.”

Marie stepped closer.

“I felt the same. Lost, broken. But being a witch doesn’t mean being perfect. It means we try—even when we want to give up.”

What do  mean that  not what I want ti say you force me to this world  I am just a human how can  person like  me   do That big dream of you don't force your dream on other

Sasha nodded.

Sasaha  He just  loose himself to all the think he don't know yer

Maire continue speak with kind smile“Your old world may still exist. But you can’t return—not until this one is saved. The Nine must be reunited.” If you want to go back home you need to complete this quest

Just then, the door creaked open.

A familiar voice called out.

“Adel!?”

Satori turned. His heart stopped.

“A mistery girl  he don't known…?”

She stood in a traveler’s robe, her wild hair braided, a staff slung across her back.

Cathy: “Lady Adel ?”

She smiled.

Who are you

“Cathy master  I’m  your apprentice.

“Do I know you?” Satori asked, confused.

Behind her stood two more women—Dorothy, tall and stern, and Catherine, calm and graceful.

“This is your beginning,” said Dorothy.
“The first step on a path only you can walk,” Catherine added.

Satori looked back at Cathy.

“Why do I feel like I know you? This is the first time we’ve ever met.”

Cathy’s smile faded slightly.

“To you, maybe. But we’ve met before. Many times. You just… don’t remember.”

“What do you mean?”

“Your soul remembers me,” she said. “But your current self has forgotten. The person you were—Adel—knew me well.”

Satori backed away, overwhelmed.

“How is that even possible?”

“You don’t have to understand it all now,” Cathy replied. “Just know that both parts of you—Satori and Adel—are real.”

Sasha raised her staff.

“She’s right. Recovering memory takes time. Rushing it could destroy you.”

Marie changed the subject gently.

“We should begin training. Time is short.”

Cathy stepped forward.

“Easiest way to explain? Let me show you.”

She raised her palm. A swirl of water appeared, dancing in the air like a ribbon.

“Water magic can be dangerous—or life-saving. Blast it to break walls. Freeze it to block attacks.”

The water crystallized into a jagged spear—then shattered into mist.

“Earth magic is about control,” she continued. “Touch something solid—stone, wood, metal—and you can manipulate it with your mind.”

Satori stared at his own hands.

“Can I really do this…?” Evverything went to fast

“You don’t feel powerful?” Cathy said softly. “That’s how Adel always started, too.”

“Adel…” he whispered.

“You were my mentor,” Cathy said. “You protected us. You believed in people.”

He turned away.

“I’m sorry. I don’t remember any of that.”

“Then let me,” Satori suddenly said. “Give me the power. Let me remember. Inject it into me if you have to.”

“No!” Sasha shouted. “Your Miasa is still unstable. Forcing memory could shatter your soul.”

But it was already too late.

Cathy had reached for him—energy sparked between them.

Satori’s world vanished.

He stood on a battlefield. Silver-haired. Powerful. Light magic radiated from her—him.

“Protect the children first. Burn those soldier ”

That voice…

“That’s… me?” he whispered.

Pain erupted in his head. Sasha’s voice cut through the fog.

“Stop it! She’s not ready!”

Everything went black.

In the darkness, a new voice echoed—gentle, ancient.

“So… you’ve returned.”

A figure in the shadows appeared—taller than life, staff humming with power.

“You don’t know me yet. But you will.”

“When you awaken again… I’ll show you what it truly means to be a witch.”

[Scene Break – The Next Morning]

A knock at the door.

“Good morning,” Sasha said. “Take this towel. Bath’s on the left.”

Satori followed the hallway and stepped into a stone-lined bath. Steam filled the air. The warm water eased the ache in his chest.

Afterward, he tried putting on the uniform Sasha left for him—a blouse and long skirt.

“Ugh… how do I even wear this?”

He struggled with the buttons and hemline.

“Why is this so complicated!?”

“Satori!” Sasha called from the hall. “What’s taking so long? Open the door!”

“I… I’m trying! I’ve never worn this stuff before!”

“In all my life,” Sasha muttered, “I’ve never seen someone wrestle with a skirt this hard…”

Satori flushed red behind the door.

“This is going to take some getting used to…”
