I don’t know how to feel about Moir, I just hugged him for the first time yesterday. I walked over to my locker that morning like usual, and there he was with his head buried in his locker that was next to mine. As I make my way over there, I can make out Viveca’s figure within the crowd approaching Moir. They seem to exchange a few words with Moir before noticing me approaching her and Moir.
“Aims!” Viveca squealed, waving both of her hands towards my direction, “Good morning!”
“Good morning, Viv.” I replied before turning to Moir, “Good morning, Moir.”
“G-good morning.” he seemed to stumble over his words, I picked it up as a habit of his.
After the exchange, we all retreated to our first class of the day. I won’t see Moir again until the next class. My first class was art, I loved art class. Despite my love for this class, I wanted it to go by faster and I didn’t know why. I kept thinking back on yesterday, when I held Moir in my arms, he smelled like sweat with a hint of mint. His arms almost tightly wound around my waist–
“Earth to Amy Carena Allard!” I heard Viveca’s voice break through the walls of my mind.
“O-oh my goodness, Viv, I’m so sorry.” I stammered.
“What are you thinking about, girl?” She nudges my shoulder with hers.
“Uhm.”
“Tell me after school, I wanna hear all about it.”
Viv always seemed to know things about me before I even got to have a say in it, either she’s a psychic or I’m just denser than osmium –they’ll probably say the latter. I’m afraid of what I might find out about myself after English, my last class of the day with Moir and Viveca.
Algebra was my second class of the day with Amy. I think her friend group is also in this class, except for Viveca. From what I’ve heard, Viveca takes French and they take it during this hour. I fear what the rest of Amy’s friend group thinks of me, but I’m willing to introduce myself to them if I need to.
I was already sitting in my seat when I decided to turn my head towards the doorway. Viveca was exchanging words with Amy and the rest of their friend group. Amy looked like she was stuttering about something, looking slightly embarrassed. Viveca then pointed at me after she had caught me looking in their direction, and whispered something to Amy. Amy started to look more flustered, but after that, Amy and her friend group exchanged see-you-laters with Viveca before sitting down in their respective seats.
“What was that about?” I ask Amy out of curiosity.
“Oh! Uhh, nothing important really. Don’t worry about it.” She stammered while giving me an awkward smile.
Her friend group overheard this and exchanged glances with each other.
After class, I decided to walk with Amy and one of her friends who had chemistry class with us. I figured it was best to introduce myself to each of her friends one by one.
“Who’s your new boyfriend, Amy?” her friend smirked.
“JUNIE!” Amy snapped.
Junie. That’s her name. Nickname for “June”? Or maybe short for “Juniper”, I thought to myself while the two bickered in the background.
“Moir, was it?” Junie asked.
“Yup! That’s me.” I replied.
“How long have you and Amy been talking?”
“Talking?”
“That’s enough of that!” Amy chimed in.
Before I could process what Junie meant, we had already reached the chemistry lab. We have to be quiet when we walk in because our chemistry teacher was not a big fan of chatter, whether it was inside or outside of her door.
