“Really? A cat?” I scoffed and holstered my gun, “Get out you mangy thing.” I stared at the cat as it leaped out of the drawer in one swift movement.
Its little legs gathered together as it hopped onto my bed and then promptly fell asleep. I let out a sound, a mixture of a scoff and a sigh. I found some more comfortable clothes and changed, sliding the tight suit I had been wearing into the drawer and laid down onto the bed, next to the cat. The cat’s white fur started to coat the sheets, a hair flew up into the air and I started to sneeze.
“You little rascal,” I mumbled, gently petting the cat's head.
It was almost soothing, feeling the way the cat's heart beat against my chest. I pulled the cat closer to me, and to my surprise he didn't protest. He just closed his icy blue eyes as I pulled the blankets over the two of us. My eyes slowly began to droop.
I fought to keep them open but the world was starting to become a blurry mess and I couldn’t fight it any longer. As I closed my eyes, the world slowly melted away as I drifted into a restful sleep, better sleep than I had gotten in a long time.
