And so they continued on their journey, traveling through the dark, foggy forests. They could hear the faint footsteps of elk, the singing of little songbirds, and the calls of eagles in the distance. It was starting to get dark as they arrived at a clearing that would be perfect for setting up camp. It was just large enough to fit 250 people and was not too far from the dirt path.
They lay down their bedrolls and started to chat among themselves. Some talked about the day, and some told stories.
"I'm going to find some berries before it gets too dark," Baror said.
"Just be careful," Said Spirit.
"I will,"
Baron climbed through the brush in the forest and found an entire bush filled with bright red berries. He started to excitedly pick them and place them into a little bag. As he stood up, he found a tiny pond behind the bush. The water was a light blue, and it glimmered in the moonlight. Baror was surprised to see such a pond and thought that this would be a great place to go swimming. So he ran back to the campsite to tell Spirit, Affkar, and Wolfgang about this.
"Did you find any berries?" Afkarr said.
"Yes, but I also found something even better," said Baror.
"And what's that?"
"Follow me, I want to surprise you."
Spirit, Afkarr, and Wolfgang followed Baror into the woods, where they found the pond.
"See, this would be a perfect place to take a swim," Baror said.
"Well then, let's jump in," Wolfgang said as he stepped into the pond. Afkarr and Baror followed him in, only Spirit remained on land, contemplating if he should go in.
"Spirit, what are you doing? Get in!" Wolfgang said.
"The water's fine," Afkarr said.
"But what if my armor weighs me down and I drown?" Spirit said.
"Your armor is not that heavy, and you can take off your shoulder and leg armor if you want. I would recommend it," said Baror.
"Alright," Spirit said as he stepped into the pond, "This is actually kind of refreshing."
They swam there and talked for a while. It was already dark, and they could see the night sky from a little opening in the trees just above the pond. The thousands of little stars and faint streaks of color in the sky sat above them. The soft hoots of an owl and the distant sounds of a campfire slowly dying out filled the air. They would walk back to the campsite and go to sleep for the night.
I'm sorry it's been well over a year since I updated the last episode. To be honest, I kind of lost passion for this project, and I got busy with school and my webcomic Tales of Beleben (which you should totally read).
The warriors set up camp for the night, and Baror finds a pond in the forest.
Spirit has been afraid for his whole life, he was prophesied to die young. But one day, his father decided he must push him into the world of being a soldier and fighting. But soon he would encounter an ancient power much more dangerous and threatening than ever.
Can they save their nation and world from certain demise, or will all that they love crumble around them?
