Anarchy or Freedom

Mistdancer: Chapter 6

Mistdancer: Chapter 6

Jun 11, 2025

The sound of club music could be heard through the door, as Emerald sat at her desk. Her office was filled with files and cabinets that stored all sorts of things. In front of her sat Richard, who was awkwardly swinging his arms back and forth, his feet unable to touch the floor due to the height of the chair. “Now then, what's your report?” Emerald asked, the wisps of her hair slowly spreading and filling the room. Richard gulped before giving his report on the gang activities, “The Jackals have been laying low for the moment but rumors have it that they may be planning to raid some cities nearby both high and low.”

Emerald waved her hand as these rumors had reached her ear already, she began to zone out as Richard gave her the basic knowledge that she had already heard. It took one word to bring her back to reality, “Hold on, what's this about a troop?” Emerald asked looking back at Richard. “O-oh well there's apparently a small group of mutants who seem to be growing, they're calling themselves the Skull Troopers and-” Emerald held her hand up to stop her and pointed towards the door. Richard got the hint and rushed out slamming the door behind him.

Emerald got up and walked over to one of wall art she had moved it aside to reveal a wall safe. Inside were a few documents but that's not what Emerald wanted, reaching into the back she pulled out an old photograph. It was a picture of four kids sitting on a junk pile with the banner saying skull troopers behind them. “We were so young, I won't let these pretenders ruin our name.” Emerald said, the mist coming from her hair turning a bright red to match her anger. Looking back at the picture, Emerald rubbed her finger over Alister in the picture. He had a huge smile on his face, no mask to be seen.

Emerald gave a sad smile and put the picture back, Alister and Tesla had changed since then, and they had lost Salina. Emerald walked to the door, determination in her eyes as this group wanting to use their names will pay for it. Opening the door to her club, Emerald walked out and stared down at the business that she had built up. With her power she will never let another friend be hurt or lost again.
