After we had gotten the mission from our systems, the police force had asked everyone in the mall to gather in the center.

That's where we were heading now.

"It's very risky to do this mission. There is no reward for doing this. There are way more cons to this than there are pros."

"Well, we really don't have a choice. If we don't do it, we are all going to die anyway. So, it's either we do it or let ourselves die."

Kayla and Michelle were talking about the mission we had gotten from the system and thinking of ways to solve this problem.

On the other hand, I was thinking differently than they were 

'If I turn into a werewolf or zombie, I'm technically not a part of the human race anymore. So, will I not die if not even a human anymore? System?'

[I will reward you with 2 points in your [Intelligence] stat for your smart thinking, Ethan. For this mission, I suppose you are correct. If you were to think that you are too weak for this mission and change your race, you won't be eligible for failure. Since it technically doesn't relate to you anymore.]

'Well, if worse comes to worst, I might choose that option then.'

As we made it to the center of the mall, we saw the police force standing on a make-shift stage and a lot of other people were already there. 

After a couple more minutes, more people appeared, and the officers made their announcement.

"To all of the survivors here, I am assuming that all of you have gotten a mission from your systems. We have reached a solution for this problem. We have decided that we will go out to level up our [Abilities] so we will be strong enough to defeat this 'Alpha' the system is speaking of. It will be very much appreciated if anyone could help us. Your safety is of the utmost importance."

A couple of people within the crowd began to whisper to their neighbor. 

"I don't want to go out there! Those demons are outside!"

"Yeah, me too! I don't want to go!"

"We don't really have a choice in the matter, do we…."

I looked over to the stage to see what the officers would do. Suddenly, a man from the crowd raised his hand.

"I will join. I don't have much to live for anyway. Plus, we are all gonna die anyway if we don't do this."

After he had said that, a couple more people raised their hands.

'He must have high charisma or something to make others also raise their hands. Or maybe they also have similar situations to the man to make them also want to raise their hands.'

[Correct.]

I didn't raise my hand because I'm going to solo it. I didn't really work well in groups, and to level up you need the final kill. It really wouldn't help me to level up if I went with them. So I'm just going to sneak out later. 

"If they are going to do it for us, then I'm staying here. There is no need for me to go."

Everyone else nodded at that statement, except for me. I don't want to be helpless in front of monsters. Plus, this is almost every weebs' dream to have a system. So I'm going to take advantage of it.

Dan had gone to the front of the stage. 

"Thank you, all of you, for coming and listening to us. We very much appreciate everyone who is coming with us to level up and eventually defeat the Alpha. Everyone who is coming to level up with us should meet us at the front by dawn. That is all we have for today." 

After the final announcement everyone began to disperse except for some of the people that will be going out tomorrow. Me, Michelle, Kayla, and Casey went back to our store.

"Are we all going to stay here?"

Casey looked around as she was speaking to all of us.

"I'm not. I'm leaving."

Casey was surprised and sad when I said that. Michelle was pretty much the same but also angry.

"Are you going with the police and the volunteers?" Kayla questioned me

I shook my head no.

"I would just go by myself. It would be faster to level up by myself because I won't have to share the kills. I'm going to sneak out."

"I can't lose you, Ethan. I'm coming with you."

Michelle announced to me quite angrily. 

'Probably because I didn't tell her I was going to do this.'

"Okay, but will you join?"

I looked at Kayla and Casey. If we go in pairs of two and switch out, we can become a strong group. They had both looked at each other and nodded. 

"Why do we have to sneak out though? Aren't they also going out too? What's the point of that?"

"Well, if they are going to level up, then we will be pretty much helpless against them if they become corrupt. There are no laws or the government keeping people in place right now. However, I also want to sneak out because I don't trust people. Sooner or later, this is gonna become a jail rather than a paradise to us."

I answered Kayla's question honestly. I want them to know what I think of this situation.

"We can leave right after the others leave to go outside. There will be less suspicion and officers around that time."

Everyone else nodded at my suggestion and started to get ready for bed. 

I lay down and went to bed.

In the middle of the night, I got up.

I was planning to go out by myself and try to reach level 5 as soon as I can. I can be ready for tomorrow. 

I got up slowly and snuck out of the store. 

As I was sneaking around, I saw the blonde girl from earlier looking as suspicious as I was right now.

'Well, what do we have here….'
