Apis cerana (Hymenoptera: Apidae) is a species of Asian honeybee. This eusocial species make their nest in cavities. The queen of this species have a unique pheromone that is not produced by worker bees. While questions regarding the full scope of the chemistry and function of queen pheromone remains, the pheromone is likely involved in suppressing the maturation of female worker bees.
