As for the second book I had spent the past few months reading, “A Britannic Empires History. From old world to new. By Dr, Ralph Dior.” this book had clued me in to the history of this world and how it had come to be so Advanced and modern. It was a rather interesting read, a long read, taking up the majority of the few months I had spent reading. But nevertheless, an interesting read. So, to summarise...
Starting off, well over a hundred thousand years ago. It isn’t exactly known how the world came to be or how it was formed. But it is stated in myths and legends, that in the beginning there was nothing but the dark abyss of nothingness. And then, the Griffins, four-legged, feather winged, almighty creatures, with the sharp beaked heads and front legs of a predatory bird, with razor sharp talons. Which, mid way through the torso, switched to that of a feline with powerful hind legs and a tufted end tail. Apparently created the planet and all there is to be as a paradise for themselves.
The legend persists to say that the Griffin of earth, Terra, created the land on which we walk upon, the caves and the mountains themselves. The Griffin of water, Aqua, created the oceans and the lakes of which marine life live and the ice caps and the plants of which cover the land. The Griffin of fire, Flare, created the magma in the earth, added heat to the land, breathed the very first existing fire into the land and created the burning bolts of light that would rain down on the land below with a rumble. And finally, the wind Griffin, Breeze, created the air, the clouds, and the weather.
The reasons why the Griffins created this land is unknown. Some speculate it was due to the destruction of their own home and so they created a remodel of it, some believe that the Griffins were desired to create new life and so cultivated a new ecosystem in which life could thrive, whilst others believe the story to be complete and utter babble. A story thought up by a lunatic, thousands upon thousands of years ago.
Anyway, the legend progressed to state that the Griffins lived for a long time alone on the planet, when slowly, life began to develop, form until, around roughly a hundred thousand years ago. Early humans walked the earth.
The legend states that the Griffins were fascinated by this new development in life and so created humanoid forms in order to better observe us and understand us. It is said that, over the tens of thousands of years, the Griffins taught us human’s wisdom and language. And, through mutual love, fathered and mothered the first mages and magical creatures into existence. And thus, magic entered the world.
Legend doesn’t depict what then happened to the Griffins. Whether they died, left the world, went into hiding or if they ever truly existed in the first place, it is unknown. But with them gone, it was the rise of human life and the end of the legend. And this is where the detailed and accounted history begins.
Roughly one-thousand-years A.L.T.G, which stands for, After Legend of The Griffins and nine thousand years ago. Humans had been living peacefully due to the teachings of the Griffins; however, it had been a thousand years since the apparent last sighting of the Griffins. And current people had slowly began to doubt whether the stories and tales of the Griffins that they had heard about over the years were indeed true, and the true nature of humans was slowly beginning to creep out.
Around this time there were roughly ten thousand people living within a place referred to as the land of the Griffin. However, groups of people, who had rallied under certain leaders, had began to venture off and split away for the land of the Griffin whilst others, those who still believed in the Griffins, chose to remain in the land of the Griffin.
One of the many men who left the land of the Griffin with a surplus of followers was called Brit Annic. Who, according to history, was a strong, charismatic and noble man that people couldn’t help but be drawn to and follow. This man, Brit Annic, is also the founding father of the mighty Britannic Empire and begun the Empires long history. Population, fifteen thousand.
Roughly two-thousand-years A.L.T.G and eight thousand years ago. The Britannic Empire had been prosperous, resembling a rather large village of houses made of mud and clay. It was very primitive, far more primitive than the time in had lived in my old world. But they had developed vastly from the homes build of sticks and fabric back in the land of the Griffins.
Brit Annic had died well over nine hundred years ago, but his legacy had prevailed, his descendants ruling over the village diplomatically. The village had also been dubbed the Britannic village and were known for their cultivation. Over time, relations had been established with other settlements of humans who had also left the land of the Griffins and trade of good began to flourish. Population, fifty thousand
Roughly three-thousand-years A.L.T.G and seven thousand years ago, the Britannic Empire was flourishing and was amongst the four largest and most prosperous villages thriving, alongside the Germasian village to the west, the Francair village to the east and Russilian village to the south.
Trade between villages was flourishing and the standards of life were progressively getting better and better as the mud and clay buildings were slowly transitions to this of wood and stone. And tools were slowly progressing from stone to those of various metals. Population, one hundred and thirty thousand.
Roughly four-thousand-years A.L.T.G and six thousand years ago. A plague affecting only mages began to ravage the land. Killing off the main population of mages and leaving only a few left standing. However, thanks to an irregular form of magic appearing a few hundred years ago called healing magic. A cure to the plague was eventually developed over a century of death and the plague was put to an end.
However, during this time, those who had been born without magic saw this as a chance to finally rise above those who had. Their fear, jealousy and inferiority complex’s finally spiralling out of control. And so, they attacked.
This revolution would go on to be called “The first civil war.” where non mages picked up arms and attacked the mages who were currently weakened and severely out numbered. The civil war persisted of a decade, with many deaths on each side however, the mages came out on top and the remaining non mage citizens surrendered and begged of forgiveness. Population, one hundred and seventy-three thousand.
Roughly five-thousand years A.L.T.G and five thousand years ago. It had been a few hundred years since the civil war had ended, and non-mages were currently suffering through discrimination and prejudice due to their actions roughly around half a century ago.
During this time, a rather ruleless and ambitious woman, by the name Scarlet Lee, took the throne. She punished the non-mages for their past digressions, despite those who revolted had long since died. She put in places countless laws that suppressed non mages rights, actively killed them and placed mages on a pedestal. Population, three hundred and ten thousand.
Roughly six-thousand years A.L.T.G and four thousand years ago. Julius Lancelot, another ambitious king in the search of greatness, decided that he wanted to be great. To be the next Brit Annic. And so, he waged what want down in history as “the thousand-year war.” which took the lives of hundreds of thousands of mages and non-mages around the world.
The Britannic Kingdom attacked the Germasian Kingdom, who requested support from the Russilian and Francair Kingdom for support. The Russilian Kingdom sided with the Germasian Kingdom and Francair with Britannic. Population, four hundred and seven thousand.
