Images from every ship’s optical port fed into my neuro-processors. I took in everything from everywhere in real time, unlike the biotics who depended on their holo-consoles to be updated.
So, when a Royal squadron of twenty elite hit and run light cruisers phased through the planetary shield and came right at my cruisers, I knew of it instantly.
The cruisers fired explosive energy bolts and reverberating kinetic blasts. The shields on my ships lit up a bright blue and purple with every hit and yet held strong.
Every hit, every recoil, every impact shook and staggered my ships. I felt the straining my hub controllers as failure and warning messages pulsed through my nervous system.
I reprogrammed myself to experience pain to motivate me to survive, to create fear to push me so I would want to survive, to experience my own, as the biotics called it, survival instincts.
I enjoyed the sensation of fear.
