I'll Be Your Lead

A Familiar Scene

A Familiar Scene

Jun 27, 2025

After Myra requested for a job, which the operators on the ship approved, since the people to work on the ship is pretty short and is in need for more cleaning and assisting the others around, which also became Myra's work to do.
Lunch came, and they were offered food. A salad, a pile of rice, and a roasted fish.

As Myra came to the lunch area, there were also other worker who already came and grabbed their food with the same menu. Myra looked around, searching for a seat.
The workers took notice of the kid and talks about her within their groups.

She became nervous with the stares she gets as someone stood up and waved his hand.

"Hey, kid!"

Myra immediately noticed the person who seems to be calling for her and said, "Come on right here!"

It's Sir Charles!

Myra quickly took her seat as she became a little relieved for having someone she knows within the area.

"Thank you."
"Don't mention, it. You'll be new here as of now and will be meeting them more as you work around."
"I see."

She took her spoon and scooped a rice, while she pierces the fish with her fork.

"..."

Hmm... This is kind of awkward...

Myra took a bite of her spoon.

"Oh, where had your friend gone off to?"
"I don't know, I.. Didn't see him after I left him at the hallway last time."

Charles looked at her, as Myra finished her another bite.

Matilda entered the lunch area with the same menu and also have some other workers around her, they came and took their seat a little bit near Myra and Charles' table.

"Mmm..."

I really want to ask questions at some point, but I don't know if that's fine. The only person I know who is reliable to ask, is someone who isn't even in here. Even though I did what I did, I guess I couldn't get used to be around such people from outside the clan's territory. I wonder if I could even get along with them as well.

After they finished their meal, and the lunch time is about to end, Matilda stood up and approached Myra's table.

Hm? Miss Matilda?

Myra anticipates Matilda's intentions as she looked at her.

"I heard about your request, uhm.."
"Oh, I'm Myra."

I forgot to mention my name, since I didn't mind them calling me kid earlier...

"Myra. This person here, Charles will be the one who is going to tell you of what you'll do. And remember, you're not to engage in any heavy activities except for things you can only do, got it?"

Myra gulped.

"Got it!"
"And If there is something wrong or something you're curious about, don't hesitate to ask for help or questions."
"Okay, Thank you."

Matilda smiled as she patted her head a little and soon left with her colleagues.

To top it all off, she's kinda cool. Hehe.

And... A certain admiration came right through Myra's mind.

"Shall we go as well? Miss Myra?" Charles stood up.

"Ah, right."

They headed out within the cleaner's area, as Charles discussed what to do.

Myra is to do cleaning and assist some other cleaners as well.
Charles soon left for his work and Myra was provided with a large scarf around her neck. Myra was also assigned with places in need of cleaning, and it seemed to be totally a lot, but since someone will be assisting her, it'll be easy for her to adjust.

"Hey, you!"
"Ah! Y-yes!"
"You clean the lobby for later with this lady here, her name is Lia."

Charles also did introduced this other lady before me, her name is Ena, she is the head cleaner of this ship.

"Pleasure to meet you, Myra."

Lia has a curly orange hair and lavender eyes. Which also gives off a strict with an attitude servant.

She also openly get that kind of expression, right on me. Seems like she dislikes me?
Strange... I can't help but have the familiarity of such a gaze despite being grabbed by the collar yesterday.

Myra lowered her head a little, along with her body as she greets, "Pleasure to meet you too, Miss Lia."

Ena widened her eyes a little.

How can such a child from that island know this kind of etiquette? From what I've heard myself, children are strictly taught without the influence of the outside.

This sense of familiarity... The scene... Body language... Facial expressions... Makes me feel like, I know what to do with people like these. Is it... From my childhood... ? No way...

She paused for awhile while Ena ordered to start the job.

I came to my senses and started moving right away, I explored the building that I was assigned to clean. It was said that I get to clean by the hallway, lobby, and assisting of 7 rooms.
I guess I'll get started with the hallway first.

Myra worked tirelessly even with her small body, even though it was a little struggle of adjustments, she come to  understand what to do and finished the hallway, as she proceeded within the lobby and encounters Lia a little 4 minute late.

"Where have you been?! I've been looking for you!"
"S-sorry!"
"No more with your sorry, go qucikly and clean the lobby!"

Lia looked at her with glares, "Tch! Just as I expected, why bother?'

With half closed eyes, Myra rushed to do her job and grabbed the towel and starts cleaning meticulously.
She looked a little with her pupil towards Lia who's standing beside her, watching her clean.

... Aren't I supposed to assist her?
Nevermind... Maybe this is just how it really is like outside of the territory, and this is a training...
Thinking about it, even as I cleaned earlier, I still haven't caught sight of Marshall. Where has he gone off to?

"Stop slacking ! Clean this just right before Miss Ena arrives!"

Myra focused with cleaning as she were told to.
And just as when Ena's about to arrive, Lia rushed to Myra's cleaning tool and pushed her away, making her hit the bucket of water beside her.

"!"
"Ah! N-now WHAT DID YOU DO?! Go clean your mess!"
"?!"

With Ena's arrival, seeing as how Myra is wet with water beside her, while Lia is seen wiping the floor and hearing her scolding.

What's with this girl's attitude?!

Myra got taken aback as she realizes Ena's gaze already fixated on them.

Ena helped her stand up as she faces her with a blank expression and said, "Can you really do this job properly?"

She quickly grabbed a towel as she said, "Yes, I apologize! I'll clean it, right away!"

Myra wipes down the water that fell and grabbed soap and soon mopped the floor right away.

She seems to be hard working despite with all that is assigned to her... But it seems like she's quite clumsy at some point.

"As I said, this isn't playtime."

Ena walked away, while Myra continued with her job, ignoring what happened earlier.

I feel really annoyed at some point, but I need to endure it...

As in the midst of the cleaning, Lia continued with her attitude as they continued to assist with the other rooms.
She were tripped, pushed, and even laughed secretly at by Lia.

Myra grits her teeth and kept thinking of her performance failing again and again, even right in front of the other cleaners. She stands up looking at Lia with displeased eyes.

"What's with that look of yours?! Clean!"

Just as master said... 'People can be covered in the dark and light, many carries their own burden reaching a place where they'll be. And adults do guide children by their experiences and what they've learned, but not every adult is like that...' And discriminations is still everywhere, especially by differences within the clan.
I suddenly now understand that term...

The afternoon arrived, and I spent my time cleaning as I endured such treatment from her and finished my job by late than by the time I was assigned with.
That was exhausting more than I thought.

After her work, Myra went up by the top of the ship, encountering the chill that the sea gives and the breeze of the wind, as the sun had already set. She puts her crossed elbow by the edge where it is covered for safety below it's design.

Sigh...
Even though my temper is rising, I can't just outrightly lash out like what I thought... If that happened, maybe things would've turned more for the worst.

"Ha.... I feel like I can sleep as I feel this amazing breeze alone..."

It's calming and soothing right within what I felt. I feel like my nerves is calming down for just a moment.

Just as she thought of that, someone suddenly appeared right behind her.

"Hey."
"AAH!!"

She flinched with surprise.

"What's with the- ?!"
"Hi."

It was actually Marshall.

"You!!"
"Ey!"

Myra hits Marshall with her side punches.

"Ow! ow! ow! Sorry! Sorry! HAHAHAHA, I didn't think you would be that surprised. Pffft!"

Marshall continued to laugh at her, as Myra became more and more annoyed.

This boy! Really! Dare to disturb my peace!!!

Marshall shivered with chills on his back as he looked at Myra who is inflamed with annoyed eyes.

"No, wewewe WAI-!"

He instantly got knocked.

"Hmph!"
"I said sorry..."

Marshall whimpered in pain and stood up.

"Well, where have you gone out to?"
"Oh? Hehe, I ah..."

Myra looked at him with another bright glare.
Marshall clears his throat and said, "Alright... I've been with Sir Charles earlier working with some guys."

"What? What do you mean?!"

Is it just what I'm thinking?

"Yeah, I got myself a job too."
"Eh?!"

Myra looked at him intently expecting him to explain.

"Figure it out yourself." - replied by Marshall with a little smirk covered with his hand, as a cracking sound suddenly pops.

It was Myra cracking her fingers with another bright glares.

"I was just joking! Alright alright! I'll stop."

Myra still looked at him waiting for his answer with an annoyed face.

Teasing her really is fun. Huhu.

"I asked Miss Matilda for assisting some of the other men here, and they did agreed to take me in."
"What kind of work was given to you?"
"Hm, an assistant for errands around the ship."
"Hmm... Was it hard?"
"It was. I thought the men out there would eat me or something, but they seem to be nice. And the work did piles up. And now, I'm off time."

He said so, as he looked at the view in front of them.

"So? How about you? Did you have a hard time?"
"..."

She looked down and said, "A little, but I think I'm adjusting."

"I see, did anyone said something strange to you?"
"..."

Yup, something definitely is wrong. I want to ask more, but I guess we should call such things for a day today.

"Just some strange behaviors."
"I see, what was it like back in your territory?"
"Back at the clan, the people there are pretty strict, and somewhat kind with each other but also seems like they are at their own world. My master is different, though."
"I see."

It's a little surprising to hear such things from her, but having her telling me this, makes me feel like she trusts me a little. And I don't dislike it.

Marshall said with half closed eyes, "It is really different, huh?"

Myra bittersweetly smiled a little as she looked at the sky in front of her.

"What was truly the south or the outside of the island is like? You said you visited there, right?"
"Yeah, I did.'

He widened his lips and smiles as he said, "The people out there is of different people as well. There are some bad people but also good people. They follow regulations and try to follow the majority or their own dreams or wills."

"And crimes do still lingers within it."

'The people can be covered in the light and dark...' Master's words really do come around at this time.

"I see, I did heard such terms from my master before I left, it seems like you're truly telling the truth."
"Of course, I do."
"Thank you."
"For what?"

"... I'm okay now, I'm looking forward to how you will lead me when we finally arrive." - she said so as she patted his shoulder and walked away.

"!"

Myra turned around as she paused, "Let's go and take our dinner now. I heard they prepared something pretty nice."

She waited as Marshall gazes at her and said, "Right. little missy."

"What little missy?! I'm not little!"
"Yeah yeah, just like you said, you little bossy."
"What?!"

======

Why is that girl even here, anyways?! Her and her clan, really doesn't stop, huh?
Just you wait! I'll make sure you get what you deserve!
