With the back facing the wall made of dirt, the knights now don’t have to worry about guarding their rear like when they were surrounded.
And the incapacitated, like Baston, can finally take a break from all the chaos and focus on recovering…
However, the situation doesn’t seem so bright for me.
A priest rushes to me after he saw me half-collapsed half-conscious with blood all over my left flank.
The wound on my left arm doesn’t seem to stop bleeding anytime soon, which only means one thing…
‘Looks like that dagger is covered in substance that prevents blood clotting.’
The worried priest gathers his mana, preparing to cast a healing spell. From the looks in his eyes, he probably thinks that I’m on a verge of death.
“Hold tight! This is gonna hurt like hell… [Basic Recove-”
But before the spell can finish, a person catch his wrist interrupting his casting, making all his mana dispersed into thin air…
“What have you just done!” A priest cast her a murderous gaze.
“I don’t think that is going to work, priest.” Sylvia, the turquoise-haired girl who stopped him, interjected.
“What?”
“She’s right. That young warrior is poisoned. Basic Recovery is not going to work.” An old man appearing behind her back supports her claim.
“Are you just going to let him bleed himself and die?”
“Of course not.”
“Then why! did you disrupt a spell that I pour all my mana into! What are you guys thinking when you ruin my spell!”
“Calm down”
“Calm down? What do you mean calm down! How are you going to heal him when I am the only priest here!”
“Can you just shut up for a second!” Sylvia latches out.
The angered priest surprised by her outburst freezes for a second. Even the knight on the frontline had turn back to take a look at her.
“I have a way to heal him. But, I’m going to need his consent…”
“Sylvia, you’re not talking about…” The old man makes a bewildered face like he just accidentally leaked a confidential information.
“What do you mean?” The priest asked.
“You see, Sylvia over here has the power to share life force with another person but she needs to her spirit to connect with that person’s spirit.”
“Sharing life force? Connect spirit?” The priest expressed his confusion.
“By sharing life force, I can prolong his life until he stabilize…”
“…But connecting with another person spirit is a dangerous thing to do as it can cause…” She added.
Instinctively, I feel that my time here is about to run out…
While they’re arguing, my vision that just blurred out is a sign that I have already lost too much blood.
To save myself from certain death, I decided to trust her…
“I give my consent- ” ‘to your healing’
But before I can finish my sentence, I blacked out.
‘I’m not letting go of my life here. Not when I finally got a chance to solve this nightmare…’
“Ouch!”
I regain my consciousness after a sudden pain startled me from my deep sleep.
“You are actually awake?” She asked me.
“Who are- ”
“I’m Sylvia, a mystic art practitioner.”
“How can you- “
“How can I read your mind? Remember the consent you gave me yesterday?”
“Ohhhh… So that’s why…”
“Yes, that’s why I warned you about the side effects but from the looks of it, you didn’t actually hear what it is.”
“Yes.” I keep my answer short so she can’t cut me off again.
Like a doctor in kid’s body, Sylvia performed a basic checkup on my condition.
I glanced around, taking in a view of a now changed environment.
Before I passed out, all I see was chaos, blood and corpse.
Now, it’s just a cleaner sewer without bloodshed.
‘Looks like we have moved quite a distance while I’m out.’
“Hey!” She called me with a threatening smile.
She squeezed my arm with a force that doesn’t match her age.
“Ouch! That hurts. What was that for?”
“Baston, do you know how much trouble have you caused me?”
“What? How?”
As I think about how I will respond, I feel a presence invading my mind.
“Would you like to hear it?” Sylvia called me directly into my mind using some sort of telepathy.
‘Ahhh! What the heck?’
“I finally found you, you bastard preventing me from getting proper sleep everyday for the last three years.”
‘Wait, what?’
“Don’t even try to deny it. I already saw it from your memory. You caused me night terrors every f***** day”
There I am being insulted for a crime I didn’t commit at my first time meeting a person who stuck in a nightmare loop with me...
