After cleaning the dishes the guy, who's name I still don't know, takes me to the living room and sits down two cups of tea upon the coffee table. I sit down on the comfy couch that feels like moist clouds against my hot skin.
"So Cressa, how is life in the pack going for ya?" He ask taking a sip of his tea, I watch his plump lips touch the brim of the cup. He smirks at me playfully realizing I'm checking out his lips.
"I...uh...Trying to just figure everything out I guess." I look away feeling my face heat with embarrassment. I can't believe I just ogled his lips, what's gotten into me?
"Yeah, It's not easy I know." His eyes show understanding which brings curiosity into mine. He looks at me mischievously knowing I'm curious. "Believe it or not I was not born from this pack."
"Oh really? What happened?" I asked curiosity getting the best of me.
"Well, Luca's father was the alpha at the time when his pack attacked mine." He looked off into the distance losing himself in his memories. "I was the beta's son, Luca found me and spared my life, as long as I vowed to be his beta when he became alpha." He looked at me then and smiled softly.
"You didn't hate him for taking over your pack?" I looked at him like he was crazy, cause I'm sure he is. He chuckled at my question "At first I did, but later on I realized what kind of man Luca was, I am proud to call him my alpha." He looked at me softly, understanding still in his eyes.
"What kind of man chains up his mate for accidentally falling asleep in the woods?" I said blankly looking at him with no emotion on my face. The understanding and genuine smile on his face vanished. "Cressa, you have to understand that he's an alpha and everyone in our pack is watching him." He puts his tea down and sits next to me, taking me into his arms. "I'm truly sorry that happened to you, you didn't deserve that." He hugs me tight, trying to show me how much it hurt him through touch.
I hug him close, feeling for the first time I've been here that someone cares.
"He had to show the pack that he wasn't going to go soft just because he found his mate." He ran his hand along my back trying to soothe me. "You were made an example of." He hesitated at the words like it hurt him.
"Example of?" I questioned staring up into his face. "To show all the others that no one should question his authority, that if they try to go against him. They'll know what will happen." He says the words so softly, like even speaking of it would hurt me.
I didn't want to continue with this, and it looked like it hurt him to speak of it, so I decided to change the topic. "I don't think I ever got your name?" I leaned back looking at him puzzled.
"Oh, where are my manners! I'm sorry Cressa!" He smiles at me shyly, scratching the back of his head nervously. "My name is Accio."
"Accio?" I stare up at him with a puzzled look. "Yes, my mother was the one who named me." He gives me a genuine smile that brightens up his face.
"I like it, it's different." I grin up at him showing him my pearly whites. He laughs genuinely, leaning back from the shake of his shoulders.
I smile at him fondly, glad to put a smile on his handsome face. "Sorry to ruin your fun, but I was wondering if you could take me out for a run? My wolf hasn't been let out for a week." I look up at him shyly, hoping he'll say yes.
"I'm just a bad beta for my Luna aren't I?" He gives me a disappointed look, making him look like a sad puppy that just got in trouble for peeing on the floor. I stick my tongue out at him to cheer him up, which he gives me a cheeky smirk in return.
"Of course you can go for a run Cressa." He gets off the soft couch, lending out his hand for me to hold which I take and get up as well. "I will be coming though, so Luca doesn't get upset with you." His understanding eyes glow with light, looking down at me.
"Thank you." I smile warmly, letting him hold my hand as he leads us to the back door of the house. He opens the door with a creak, looking out I see a thick forest of trees standing tall and proud. I feel Cara running around in my head excitedly; it makes me happy knowing she's still here.
Accio lets go of my hand and walks out into the back yard, looking back at me waiting. I take a deep breath of the fresh forest air before walking over to him in a proud strut. He smirks at me playfully, walking off into the bushes. I wait not sure if I should follow before a rich dark brown wolf walks out from the bushes.
With one glance I can see it was Accio; it's just the way he holds himself. Like he's ready to defend off any enemy that comes close.
