Catalina had done her best to stifle the laugh that was threatening to escape from her painted lips. Victor, after successfully puppeteering Leonard, had made the blonde look more like a fool than he usually did on his own. Victor made Leonard talk in riddles and dance around like a peacock trying to attract a mate, making him seem less desirable to the many women in attendance. That happened less than five minutes ago, and it only stopped because Victor had immediately lost interest in messing with Leonard, wanting to instead stay by his old friend’s side. 

When Leonard’s family tried to do damage control, it was too late for them to recover from that. The eldest son of the Vanderbilt family would be the laughingstock of the kingdom for the next week, or at least the nobles had something new to laugh and gossip about.
