story about friendship

Episode 12

Episode 12

Jul 08, 2025

Evening fell, and the students settled into their rooms at the youth hostel arranged by the school.

Will had already finished dinner and taken a shower. He was talking to Daniel on a video call; Daniel had called him right after Will sent pictures of the place.

"Where are you going?" Will asked when he noticed the phone moving around.

"Surprise," Daniel said.

Will smiled. "Liar!"

Daniel laughed and picked up his pace. "They put us in the south building..."

Will jumped off the bed and went to open the door. "Where are you?"

"On my way... What room are you in? Do not make me knock on every door."

"After your performance this morning... why not? I am outside my door waiting for you. It is number 315."

"Yay! One floor up! I am coming, baby!!" Daniel called out excitedly.

The call must have disconnected as Daniel started running.

"Why is the door open?" Taylor had just come out of the shower, holding a towel to dry his hair.

Will looked at him, smiling with stars in his eyes. "They are here!"

Taylor looked at him suspiciously. "Who is here?" he whispered cautiously.

He glanced around the room, wondering if Will was seeing something he could not. Will laughed.

"I meant, they are here—my friends from my old school. They are staying in the same hostel as us. Daniel is on his way up."

Taylor exhaled in relief. "Wow... that must be a nice surprise for you."

"Baby!!!" Daniel's voice rang out again as he jumped on Will, wrapping his legs around him. This time, Will was ready and did not fall to the floor.

They hugged tightly.

"Man! I miss you..." Will said.

"Me too... It is not the same without you just a yard away..." Daniel replied. He kissed Will on the cheek, climbed down, and stepped into the room.

"Hey... You must be Taylor. Will has told me so much about you."

Taylor looked at Will suspiciously. He had no idea how much Will had told his friend about him, or what exactly had been shared.

Daniel peeked toward the bathroom and whispered, "Where is the other guy?"

Taylor closed his eyes and sighed. "He is with his girlfriend," he answered Daniel. "I cannot believe you told him..." he added, clearly annoyed at Will.

Will shut the room door. "To be honest, I told him what happened at the smoothie shop before I even knew we were going to the same school," he tried to explain.

"I cannot wait to meet everyone. That way I will know if Will was right," Daniel said as he walked over to Will’s bed and flopped down on it. He grabbed Will’s pillow and sniffed it.

"I love your mom’s laundry detergent."

Taylor looked at Will again, watching him closely as Will came over and sat on the bed next to Daniel.

"I do not care who is right. Just make sure you do not say anything around anyone. Nobody knows the truth about me and Will."
"You are a grumpy one," Daniel said in a teasing voice.

Taylor looked at him with a frown on his face, and Daniel laughed.

A message notification sound went off, and Daniel pulled his phone out of his pocket. "Who is this?" he asked, showing the screen to Will.

"I have no idea."

"How do you not know? He goes to your school," Daniel asked playfully.

"What about you?" he turned to Taylor after Will just shrugged.

Taylor checked his own phone and looked at the picture of a kid who went to their school.
"I do not remember his first name, but his last name is Black... He is on the wrestling team. Why are you asking?" he said as he handed the phone back to Daniel.

"Anna sent it to me," Daniel said. "She asked me to look into this guy. She said he tried to lure her to his room. He told her, 'I can last all night for a face like yours.'"

"What?!" Will asked, shocked.

"That does not surprise me," Taylor said, and the other two stared at him, wide-eyed.
"The wrestling team always had a reputation for being players. This is not the first time I hear something like that."

Will turned to Daniel.
"I think you should do a deep search on all the team members." He let out a heavy breath.
"Now I really do not feel bad about not joining the team. If I had to share a room with someone who thinks that is okay to say to someone... I would know exactly what I would have done..." he added, clearly angry.

Will knew that if they were not still under school supervision, Anna probably would have kicked the guy right in the balls.
Good thing she had not, he thought. They had no idea what his level in martial arts was.
Even though he and Anna had been in the same martial arts classes, he knew the difference between their levels.
They were always taught never to strike first, always to defend, never to use their skills for power.

So it was a good thing Anna just took a photo and sent it to Daniel.
aniel was one of those computer geniuses who could break into systems just for fun. He was sure checking that guy would be a piece of cake for him. The real question was what he would do with the information—if and when he found something.

He sent Anna a message and then looked up.

"They want to come here—her and Eden—so I gave them the room number. I hope that is okay," he said, mostly directing the comment toward Taylor rather than Will.
Taylor looked at Daniel with worry.
"Do they also know about the situation with Will and me?"

Daniel nodded.
"Yeah... but they have never told anybody, so... no need to worry," Will said, and Taylor sighed.

"Really, you do not need to worry. We have not said anything. I promise."
Daniel held up his hand as a promise gesture.
"We also want to meet Megan. We really want to know all the people Will talks about," he added in a playful tone.

Will pushed Daniel and he fell on the bed, laughing out loud.

"Come on, Angel. Do not make Taylor feel uncomfortable," Will pleaded with Daniel.

"Do not make me apologize for wanting to know the people in your life. You are my best friend, a brother from another mother," he told Will.
"I am sorry you are stuck in the situation, although you pretty much put yourself in it," Daniel added to Taylor.

"Do not think I do not know that!"
Taylor stood up and started pacing around the room.

"Tay..." Will said gently.
Taylor shook his head, not feeling in the mood to talk about it.
"I do not think avoiding the conversation will help the situation." Will's words made sense, but it did not keep Taylor from getting frustrated.
"I cannot... I cannot talk about it with Morgan..." Taylor growled and covered his face with his hands in embarrassment.
"Good! Let it out!" Daniel encouraged him.

Taylor looked at him, his face showing an expression of disbelief.
They could hear laughter from behind the closed door, and after a moment it opened and Morgan and two girls entered the room.
Will jumped off the bed to hug the two girls.
Both of them were shorter than Will.
The one with black hair only reached his shoulders,
and the one with light brown hair was a bit taller than the black-haired girl, but still shorter than Will.
They all hugged in a kind of group hug.
They pulled away from the hug, and Will introduced them.
"This is Anna," he said, pointing at the girl with the black hair.
"And this is Eden," he pointed at the girl with the light brown hair.
"After Daniel, they are my best friends."

"Thanks a lot," Anna said sarcastically.

"Your words touch my heart," Eden added, also sarcastically.

"Come on... You know what I mean..." Will said.

Eden waved her hand dismissively.

"Anyway... as much as we waited for this emotional reunion... we're here for a sleepover, and like every good sleepover, we are doing a makeover," Eden said as she lifted a backpack Will had not noticed until now.

"I do not want to be your test subject tonight," Will said.

"Me neither," Daniel added quickly, before the girls had a chance to object.

Anna turned to Taylor. "What about you, blondie? Want a makeover?"

The fact that she spoke to him caught him off guard. He felt like a fifth wheel among the four of them. Morgan had gone into the shower right after they arrived, leaving Taylor in an unfamiliar situation.

Too confused to answer right away, Will jumped in to help.
"I can promise you that Taylor is not interested either," he said, emphasizing his name.

Eden and Anna both gasped in surprise.
Taylor sighed.
"Is there anyone you have not told?" he asked Will.
"Shhh..." Will said to Taylor. "He is in there," he whispered and pointed at the closed bathroom door.
Taylor shook his head in disbelief.
"Do not worry, they will not say anything. Right?" Will said.
His friends nodded and replied, "Of course."
"So..." Anna said, "No one wants a makeover?"
Will looked at the closed bathroom door and smiled.
