Fun fact: Captain was a real green frog I observed in my pond! See that C shaped marking on his tympanum*? Green frogs often have unique markings on their tympanums, kind of like a fingerprint, which you can use to tell them apart. It can often be a more reliable way of identifying them than looking at their overall color pattern, as they can sometimes get darker and lighter depending on environmental conditions. The real life Captain had that same C shaped marking which is how I identified him from the other males.
