Athan’s rest was -fortunately- pleasant and before long, he was bathed under a lukewarm vibrance of the star. Unbeknownst, he had fallen asleep surrounded by the care of nature and a new day was now lighting the path towards his discoveries. Excited he was to notice, the star he thought was long gone, had returned to gracefully offer its marvelous gift. Standing above like a pathfinder, opening the road ahead and showing the movements towards the next step.
A certain weight was lifted from the lone traveler’s soul, having realized that his guide had not quite abandoned him, but simply went to rest (or at least thats what he thought). Nonetheless, his hope was rejuvenated and his motivation grew to new heights, therefore, he hastily picked himself off the ground. Staring at the beautiful azure color of the sky that had returned alongside the shining star, away he went to uncover the great many spectacles, hiding in the world’s heart.
Traversing with such a great line of sight, made the experience of exploration much more easier and way more entertaining for our dear friend who -just as always- was enamoured with everything he came across.
Soon after, he was greeted by a river. It was somewhat similar to the pond he found in his birthplace, yet very different at the same time: it was so long, that he couldn't see its beginning or end, its waters were filled with all sorts of natural minerals and organisms and most intriguing, it wasn't stable but a flowing current, constantly heading into the far unknown. Athan tried to see if he could find his reflection mirrored in the water. Horrifyingly, once he stood above and took a closer look, he was startled to witness a mangled mess, unable to keep a stable form.
He fell back in shock, frantically inspecting his face with his hands, searching to make sure that everything was in place. After overcoming this sudden dread, he tried to look, again, but saw the same horrific view that made him look maimed, dragging himself back with a face full of fright. Weirdly enough, it wasn't just him that appeared disfigured, but so did the trees behind him and the clouds above him, continuously altering their shape on the surface of the water, even if they looked perfectly normal outside of it.
Athan thought for a second (he actually did think this time), but still, his limited knowledge of how the world worked did not prove to be of much use.
Nevertheless, Athan knew, in order to continue moving, he had to get to the other side of the land being split by the river. He looked far into the distance, trying to find a path that could lead him around or over the water body.
...
That appeared to be unsuccesful.
It was pretty evident that the only way across, was to go through the river itself...
