Skoll's heart was pounding out of his chest. He couldn't believe he just said that. He was going to freak out now, hands pulling at his hair. "OH! Fuck."
"Is it something illegal?" Elliotasked. "Is it? I know you joined a gang but I didn't think you'd do something like that."
Skoll sighed, "Yes and no." Being a wolf was technically against the law. The government hunted men like him down.
"Skoll!"
"It's not what you think." Skoll moved to the sofa. He needed to sit down.
"You don't know what I'm thinking."
"It's not drugs or guns. Or people." Confirmed Skoll.
Okay so that's what he was thinking. Gangs usually were involved in those kinds of things.
"Then what?" Elliot sat on the other side of the sofa. He could see that Skoll was honestly freaking out over this.
"One you can't freak out. Two you can't freak out. Three you can't tell anyone. Four you can't tell anyone. Five the cops can't know. Six the cops . . ."
"I get it. I can't tell a soul."
Skoll looked over at Elliot. His voice was calm but dead serious. "You have to promise me. Swear on your life. Your cat's life. If anyone finds out it's not just me you'll be hurting."
"Skoll you're starting to scare me." Elliot was starting to think he didn't want to know. Also wondering how he knew he had a cat. She was always locked up on the second floor when he had people over. Skoll could smell her, at times he could even hear her walking around.
"SWEAR TO ME." Repeated Skoll.
Elliot looked at him, nodding his head. "I swear. I won't say a word."
Skoll took in a long breath. "Have you heard of werewolves?"
Elliot blinked a few times before he started to laugh. "Like men who shift and howl at the full moon? Yeah I've heard of them."
"Well, I'm one of them."
Now Elliot really started to laugh. All this work up for a fucking lie. Skoll wasn't finding it funny at all. His eyes narrowed and darkened. They even flickered. His wolf didn't find it funny either.
"You're not serious?" Asked Elliot. This had to be a joke.
Skoll got up from the sofa, shaking his head. "Nope." He picked up his shirt from the floor. "You know how to see yourself out."
"Skoll, really a wolf. You're a wolf." If he was he would have known. He's known Skoll for a long time. There had to be signs. Well, there weren't any signs until the other day. "So the silver." Elliot said to himself, following Skoll. "Is that why you left?"
His mind ran away with all the signs he chose to overlook. Skoll pulled away from him and started to hang around a new crowd of people. There was the mysterious looking dog bite mark on his shoulder. The change in his temper as well as his temp. Skoll ran hotter than normal. There were also the times when Skoll looked at him that Elliot couldn't help but feel that someone or something else was looking back. And now the silver.
"Yes, that's why I left Eli." Snapped Skoll, pinning Elliot to the wall. His forearm pressed against his throat. His eyes flickering again this time Elliot caught it because they stayed. His once hazel green eyes now almost glew a light gold color. His canines popped, sticking out as he snarled. "I left because they took me in. Made me one of their own. Gave me a home." Skoll never really had a home. His parents should have never been parents. They only had him to get the perfect little Christmas family photo.
For a moment Skoll thought Elliot might have been that answer for him. That he would become his home but that door was shut the moment Elliot laid out the rules. There would never been anything more than a few good fucks.
Skoll had never truly scared Elliot. Sure he was rough around the edges, prickly more times than he wasn't with an attitude from hell but he never scared him like he was scaring him now.
"Skoll." Choked Elliot. Skoll was pressing down a lot harder than he meant too.
Elliot watched as he blinked, coming back to himself. His eyes darkened in hue again. His teeth no longer looked like they wanted to take a real bite out of him.
"Shit." Skoll cursed as Elliot dropped. His hands rubbing the front of his throat as he coughed. "Eli. . . "
Elliot slapped his hand away. He didn't want to be touched, pushing himself up from the floor. His pupils were blown from the shock and fear that was now coursing through him. "Don't touch me." He ordered when Skoll reached out for him again.
His throat burned as he breathed in. "I need to go." He spoke without looking back.
"Elliot."
"I'm not going to say anything so don't worry." He slammed the door behind him.
