In the book „The Idea of Justice“ by Amartya sen (who we’ll get to know here later on) you can achieve the same solution from arguing from different positons.
The injustice of a famine would make one person say “This is unjust because everyone has a right to food!” while another argues “This is unjust because it hinders productivity” and a third says “We have to help because people are suffering”. The underlying reasonings might even contradict each other.
Which view-point you hold is not that important. What’s more important is listening to many different viewpoints before you form your own opinion. This kind of open-mindedness is what we’ll try to go for in this webcomic.
More about this subject in Amartya Sen’s “The Idea of Justice” in the chapter “Introduction”, “An Approach to Justice”.
