The lady gave them a map, which was rather helpful as they made their way to the next town. Reiner indicated the town they would be entering next. Numerous human and various beast species coexist peacefully in Beastren's main town. The guard grabbed them as they approached the main gate and questioned them for appearing to be witches. While Reiner shook her head and bumped her shoulders to her sister, telling her not to, Ericht shook her head and tried to cover up a lie, but she was unable to do so. The guards then took a wooden cuff and cuffed them, but then a mage spoke to the guard and revealed that they were his niece dressed as a witch. Despite their confusion, the two followed his lead because the mage was well-known in the community. After being released from their handcuffs, the two followed the man through the city gates.

The mage was curious as he had never seen a young witch before. The man was wearing a silk green robe and held an ancient well-kept book. His long silver hair makes him look feminine but his well-built body makes him look like a man.  He told them not to dress like a witch and forced them to wear them as town folks. Reiner asks the mage,  why are they treated like some sort of criminal, and the mage shares a story. “According to the church, witches are heretical sorcerers who utilize limited magic that has never been authorized to be used, curse people to death, and cause chaos and misfortune to others. Until the Church-led Great Cleanse. Some of them were men or women who were accused of practicing witchcraft, and many of them were executed. Some of the witches survived after the Great Cleanse but still, they were on pursuit and on supervision with the church. Luckily, I saw you two you two are still young to be killed. Although it's against our code to help witches, I’m not a horrible man to execute such children around your age. I think it best for you two to stop practicing witchcraft”. The two were pissed about the story the mage told them and said they were never like that. Ericht was very furious about the wrong impression about the witches and wanted to prove that they were never like that.

As the sun went down, the two twin witches left the town. They didn’t find any clues about their master but they got information about the past, the Great Cleanse, and the forbidden of witchcraft. Of course, they replenish their supplies thanks to the man who saved them. However,

”Do you think our master is safe? After we learned about the Great Cleanse, Ericht?” Reiner asked.

“I- I don’t know. What we can do is to hope that she’s okay.”
