Elliot had called a few days prior to the potluck to make sure the food truck was able to make as many cornuts as he needed for the potluck. A simple dozen wasn't going to be enough to feed the crowd that would be there that night. He even asked for a few gallons of the hard apple cider.
Thankfully his car was out of the shop in enough time for him as well because there was no way he would have been able to carry all of that on the back of his bike.
He had be struggling a bit in the front lot of the clubhouse, stacking the boxes on top of each other when a pair of helping hands came out of nowhere when he turned around. The male took the top two boxes, giving him a line of sight to see where he was walking.
"Thanks."
"Apple cider?" Asked the male, sniffing the top of the box. "So, underrated." He commented, before walking a head of Elliot holding the door for him.
"Thanks again." Elliot flashed the male a quick smile once they got everything inside.
The subtle growl Elliot heard from behind him told him that Skoll was now standing behind him. He hadn't been here a few moments ago. The male that had been helping Elliot raised his hands.
"I know." He smirked, "MINE." He teased Skoll.
Elliot shoved Skoll lightly as the male walked away. "He was just helping me. Plus how am I to make friends here if you scare them all off?" Elliot wanted Skoll's family to like him. All of them getting along would make things go over a lot more smoothly.
"You don't need any more friends." Skoll commented with a mouth half full of cornut.
Elliot looked at him with a hard look.
"He's a dick anyway." Shrugged Skoll.
"Dick or not." Elliot stepped closer to him, pulling at the leather cut Skoll wore. "I want people to like me." He looked up at him, "They're your family."
Skoll stuffed the rest of the cornut in his mouth as Tonka came up behind him, clapping him on the back causing him to almost choke on it.
"See karma." Laughed Elliot.
"Elliot!" Tonka spoke, pulling him away, lacing his arm over his shoulder. "Don't let him discourage you. He's just protective of what he sees as his."
"Oh, I know."
"So, please mingle."
And that's what Elliot did. He made his living off of talking to people. The entire night he could feel Skoll hovering nearby. Elliot was sure that he was never out of Skoll's line of sight as he made his way around the room. He did his best to introduce himself to everyone more formally this time. It wasn't long before Elliot found himself sitting at a small table with the male that had helped him earlier. His name was Chuck. He was also married with a six year old and one on the way. Elliot tossed Skoll a look when he found that out. Chuck had no interest in him whatsoever. Chuck was clearly a devoted husband and father from the way he talked. Elliot had asked where the wife was tonight, being informed that she was in fact at home on her last few weeks of bedrest before the baby. This was Chuck's only time out of the house besides work and the full moon in months.
Elliot seemed to have a way of putting people at ease when it came to topics they weren't comfortable speaking on, seeing as how Chuck was now looking at him. A bit of a tight smile on his face, as he rubbed the back of his neck.
"I haven't shared any of this." Chuck spoke more to himself than Elliot. Other's knew he was having a baby but as far as how rough it's been none of them knew. He felt it was better that way, they didn't need to worry with all that had been going on but that ultimately just put the worry all on him.
Elliot smilled, patting him on the back. "It's hard to carry a load that heavy all on your own." He nudged him, "I normally charge people but for you I'm free anytime you need to talk."
Chuck eye'd him with a wondering look about the charging people. He hadn't really shared the fact that he was a therapist. Overall most people seem to have a strong point of view on how they felt about people who did what he did for a living.
