Chapter 2

Jackson woke up to see the portal island, and Samuel at his side, “Jackson wake up!” He was yelling.

Jackson sat up, “Ok.” Samuel looked stunned, “What?”

Samuel squinted his eyes, “You got pulled into the void, didn’t you?” Jackson nodded, Samuel sighed. “What did you see?”

Jackson grabbed his own hand, “A giant hand grabbed me and pulled me into the void, there were gods! They said something’s happening, and that we’re the only ones who can stop it!”

Samuel was wide eyed, “A few things, that’s not the craziest thing you’ve said. Two the great knight did believe that the gods existed, and you don't really lie a lot so what happened?”

“They said I have powers!” Jackson said, “Like you.” Jackson got up and sat on a neary rock, “There were eleven gods, only seven of them were pointed out to me. One was green and naturey, one was red, evil, and mad, other ones were cool and all cosmic-looking, one was fast and lightning-y, and two more were dark and light.”

Samuel was looking like he was listening, “Alright, so what else did they say?”

Jackson thought for a second, “Oh ya! The controllers are going to war with the gods!” Jackson reflected on it, “Not the best way to say it, but that’s what they said.”

Samuel’s mouth was hanging open, “Alright, so you have powers, we’re going to war, and the gods are real.” Jackson nodded, “Man, I love this world.”

“We have to get to school, and tell Sylvan…” Jackson ran at the speed of light, and ended up on the other side of the bridge of the island. “What was that?”

Samuel was wide-eyed, “So you do have powers.” Samuel dashed over to him, “What else can you do?”

Jackson thought, “They said I'm able to sense nearby things, I'm fast, I have this thing called intangibility, and this.” Jackson showed Samuel his new arm tattoo, Samuel grabbed at it.

“Jackson these are runes!” Samuel exclaimed,

“The pictures that you use?” Jackson asked.

“Yes! I’ve never seen these before, we’ll have to test this.” Samuel ran into the forest, Jackson followed.

Samuel had run to the station, where they would get to school. When they got there they saw Sylvan sitting on a bench, he looked up.

“Hey guys! What’s up?” Sylvan asked,

“Jackson has powers now.” Samuel was pointing to Jackson,

Sylvan sighed, “Of course.” Sylvan sat up, “So what can he do?”

Jackson dashed toward Sylvan, “The gods gave me powers! I can dash now, I can get all wavy, I have this thing called pureness, and…” Jackson suddenly felt a strange feeling, he slowly turned around to see a dog or something. He instinctively shot out his arm, and he shot a blast of yellow light. Whatever was there ran away, after being hit. Jackson looked back at Sylvan, “Surprise.”

On the way to magic school, where Jackson was really excited to get back to. Especially after learning how fun it was to fight people in combat class. Samuel and Jackson explained what happened to Sylvan,

“So basically I have the ability to sense enemies around me, become intangible, go super fast, have this thing called pure magic, have this super cool tattoo which I have no idea what does, and I can cast Knight Magic. Nice.” Jakson tried to sum it up as fast as possible, and it didn’t seem to get the point across.

“So you have some cool stuff to figure out.” Sylvan said, Jackson nodded.

They were on the underground train system that Sylvan had made. It was taking them straight to school, and Jackson used every second they had to explain what he had seen. He’d explained the great hallway, and how each of the gods had their own special trait.

“Two of them gave me armor, and a gauntlet.” Jackson realized he didn’t know where his gauntlet actually was, or any of the items the gods had promised him.

Samuel was reading the knight’s magic book, “So where are these items?” Samuel said not looking up from the book.

Jackson winced, “Well they said I have them, but I don't have them.” Jackson looked down at his tattoo, “They said this gave it to me.”

Samuel looked up from his book and looked at the two big runes, and opened a page in the book.

“Interesting…” Samuel said,

Jackson jolted up, “What is it?”

“It says this glyph means to find, but the other is to hide.” Samuel stroked his chin, “Maybe it’s for that armor? To activate and deactivate?”

These were all great theories, but before they could discuss more they arrived at the school entrance. Samuel, sitting with his feet up, fell to the ground.

Jackson winced, “You ok?”

Samuel was on the floor, “Cheery.”

They all exited the train to see the platform, and a lot more students than last year. Jackson walked toward it with Samuel and saw a lot of people crowded around the platform.

“Look, it's the Master Knight!” Somebody yelled, Samuel jumped.

“Hey, Jackson, we might need to run to the platform.” Samuel whispered,

“Why?” Jackson asked, then almost every student there started crowding around Samuel and Jackson.

“What’s going on with the controllers?”

“What are you going to do next?”

“What have you learned since last time?”

“What does Knight’s magic feel like?”

There were thousands of questions asked, but Samuel was just trying to get to the platform. He looked at Jackson, “I can't really explain it, but I will tell you once I know more.” Samuel caught up with Jackson, “So is that my life now?”

“Looks like it,” Jackson said. Sylvan jumped onto the platform, and gestured for the platform to go up.

“So how’s the celebrity life treating ya.” Sylvan asked Samuel,

Samuel smiled, “Already tiring.” Samuel rolled his shoulders, and looked up. “Ready?”

Jackson smiled, “Ready.”

The school looked exactly like it did last year, and the platform area had improved. It had rails on the sides, and gates that people immediately opened. People flowed out of the platform into the courtyard, and rushed to their studies.

Samuel turned to Jackson, “Alright, let's get to the study to figure all of this out.” Samuel put a thumbs up, and Jackson did as well. They ran through the school, and into the library. Samuel looked around, and went to the Study area. He started to tap the wall, but stopped. “You should try.”

Jackson was wide-eyed, “What, I can't do that. The whole thing is that only you can do it!”

“Ya, but now you can do it too.” Samuel said,

Jackson looked at the run symbols, and reached out his hand. He tapped the symbol, and it glowed. Slowly the wall opened into the doorway of the Study.

Samuel sighed, “It’s good to be back, hey, Mohan!” Samuel ran into the Study Jackson followed, and he suddenly was faster then Samuel.

Jackson appeared right next to Mohan, “Hi.”

Mohan was wide-eyed, “Ok, we have some new things to deal with. Good to know, but for now time to catch you up. I’ve been jumping through the dimensional barriers, and preparing for your arrival.” Jackson noticed the extreme tidiness of the Study, and the library.

Jackson turned toward the library, “Are they in there?”

Mohan turned toward it, “Not that i’ve seen, I’ve searched every inch and found nothing.”

“They’re just gone?” Samuel asked,

“Looks like it.”

Samuel shook his head, “Well it doesn’t matter right now, we have to find out what’s happening to Jackson. Can you pull out some god books, or spells related to holy possession or grantment?”

Mohan nodded, “Of course my knight.”

“And Jackson, come to the desk, I need to take a look at that tattoo. Like how much is there?” Samuel said,

Jackson shrugged, “The gods said it went all throughout my body, so every part of me I guess. Or all throughout the parts I need my armor.”

Samuel grabbed a magnifying glass and looked at Jackson’s hand, “Interesting, these two runes aren’t the only ones.”

“What?” Jackson asked,

“These small lines on your arm, there runes. But really small, and really detailed.” Samuel explained. Jackson looked at his arm, and imagined the craziness he could probably do with these new powers. “I have a theory you could cast them by trying to cast a normal knight’s spell.”

“Perfect, how do I do that?” Jackson asked,

“Well it depends on the spell, but from what’s on your arm. I’d say you start by using ancient elflem, an ancient way of casting spells. I learned it from the book. I'll start looking up certain possible commands.” Explained Samuel.

“Alright, so what do we do until then?” Jackson asked.

“Well, you might have trouble casting spells. I’ll look up some basic spells, and teach you.” Samuel said, “Go get everyone, we need to talk about this.” Samuel ran into the library, and Jackson ran to get their friends.

An adventure through a world of magic, showing that even people who are considered different can be chosen for great things. This time, a new power comes into play. With a new Chosen, what events are to come in book three in Rise of Marshlake. One more thing, I think Samuel needs some time off.
