Chapter 3
Jackson ran through the halls to their room with Charles and Eric, when he got there he found Carlene with them. They all looked at him.
“What is it this time?” Eric asked
“I got the same thing Samuel did, but it’s different.” Jackson showed them his arm, and they gasped. “I didn’t have it when we came through the portal.”
“So what does it do?” Carlene asked,
“All we know for now is I can dash like Samuel, and cast knight’s magic.” Jackson waved them out of the room, “To the Study!”
They ran into the library, and to the study. Samuel had multiple new books on the table, and each about a random thing. One read Knight’s Magic’s full potential, another read The Clergy Theory.
“Samuel what’s up?” Eric asked.
Samuel looked up from The Clergy Theory, “I found out what’s happening.” Samuel pulled over the chalkboard he’d been drawing rune on, and drew a new circle. “The god’s use knight’s magic, and they are able to imbue it into other items and people.”
Jackson thought, “Just like what they did with me…” Jackson said,
Samuel snapped, “Exactly, somehow they were able to infuse the void directly into your soul. In doing so they only allow you to have certain abilities, but you have no idea how to use them, and I think I figured out how you can and how to use them to your advantage in the coming event.” Samuel started drawing the runes that were now on Jackson's arm.
“Wait what coming event?” Eric asked,
Samuel looked at Jackson, “You didn’t tell them?”
Jackson shook his head, “I kind of rushed it.”
Samuel shook his head, but looked back up. “Ok, well time to tell them all the secrets that might destroy the world.” Samuel gestured toward Jackson, “But it’s not mine to tell.”
Jackson smiled and walked to the board, “Well the controllers have waged war on the gods, with how the controllers think the gods are the ones causing all the problems.” Jackson started to pace in front of them, “Soro, the god of combat, he’s been chosen to lead this war against them. He is probably going to wipe out the controllers in whole, but the controllers are smarter than that.”
Samuel nodded, “They probably have a plan in destroying the gods.”
Jackson nodded, “Exactly, they must be trying to do something to stop them. If we stop the controllers, we might be able to stop the war.”
Everyone nodded, Charles walked toward the board. “How would they be able to do that? They're going against the gods themselves! How would they be able to destroy an entire army of god warriors?”
Samuel nodded, “I’ve been thinking of that, and I think they could use knight’s magic.”
Jackson looked at him, “How?”
“Well Knight's Magic has a tendency to be more powerful in certain places, fire more powerful went its hot. Water is more powerful when it’s cool, and calm. So maybe when the gods are near, and they have some of the most powerful knight’s magic in the multiverse…” Samuel struggled to say what he was thinking, “Maybe they can cast knight’s magic without a knight.”
Jackson was wide-eyed, “What!?”
“It’s just a theory, and I don't even know if it will work!” Samuel admitted, “But we can't leave anything out.”
Eric stepped up, “Wait if they can do that, and knight’s magic is directly connected to the gods. Why can't you guys do it?”
Jackson laughed, “well, obviously because, umm.” Jackson thought for a moment, he looked at Samuel “Wait can we do that?”
“Theoricaly, yes.” Samuel said,
“So why don’t you just find a way to imbue an object with, ‘Kill all gods.’” Charles said,
“No!” Jackson said, “The multiverse will fall apart without them, that’s why we have to figure out how to do this.” Suddenly Jackson blacked out, and saw the controllers. They were in a giant field. He’d seen the field before, it was only a few hours away from the school. ‘That’s where they are.’
“Jackson!” Samuel yelled, Jackson woke up. “Are you ok?”
Jackson looked at Samuel, “Eyser, they showed me where the controllers are.”
“How?” Samuel asked,
Jackson shook his head, “I don't know.”
After a few weeks, Samuel thought he found a solution to the rune language for Jackson. Samuel had brought Jackson and Sylvan to the outskirts of the school, just next to the “War Zone” as they were calling it.
“Alright! Are you ready to learn some Knight’s Magic?” Samuel asked,
Jackson nodded, “You bet.”
“Good because I've been studying the old god books and I think I've found something.” Samuel held out an old piece of paper showing a man in armor, and two armies. “You're not the first Godspeeker.”
Jackson looked up, “Godspeeker?”
Sylvan patted his shoulder, “Ya Godspeekers were they children on gods! They had specific powers, but until now we didn’t know it was knight’s magic.”
Jackson looked at the paper in aw, Samuel took the paper and packed it into his satchel.
“Well it took a lot of digging, but I found the incantation to access your abilities. It’s ‘Comtenis’ roughly translated to heal” Samuel said, “Ready?”
Jackson smiled, “Born ready.” Jackson walked into the field, and focused on the feeling he felt in the gods hall. “Comtenis.” Lightning struck Jackson, and he heard Samuel and Sylvan yell his name. He opened his eyes, and looked at his hands. Slowly a piece of metal came up his back and on his arm and attached to his hand it slowly extended onto his fingers, creating new pieces of metal. It extended up his arm, and created a gauntlet. It was the one the gods had given him, then more metal started extending up his arm and onto his chest and back. It continued to extend across his body until his entire body was covered in a strange armor that the two gods had given him. He forgot their names, but he was grateful for it. He turned around and realized he couldn’t see out of the mask. “I cant see a thing.”
“Jackson didn’t you say you could sense things around you?” Jackson heard Samuel say.
Jackson remembered the feeling of knowing exactly where everything was, and more. He suddenly saw exactly where Samuel and Sylvan both were, and he saw the field, and the school. He saw everything.
“Ya I can see everything now.” He said, “Oh, by the way, Sylvan, your third button is out.”
Sylvan looked down at his suit, and looked at the third button on it. It was indeed out. Sylvan quickly fixed it, and looked back at Jackson.
“Impressive, but say anything out loud like that again and it won’t end well.” Sylvan said.
Jackson winced, “sorry.” If Jackson could explain what it felt like he would, but it was just indescribable.
“Alright, let’s see who’s faster then.” Samuel said he walked next to Jackson and prepared to run. Jackson gets ready to run, “3, 2, 1, go!” Everything slowed down, and Jackson tripped. Samuel didn’t even take a step, he came to Jackson and helped him up. “Welcome to the speed zone. Everything but us goes super slow here, so we're super fast here.” Jackson looked around for a bit, he looked over at a spike fox. Who was going super slow, and didn't even see them. “So ready for the real race?” Samuel asked.
“Let’s go.”
“3, 2, 1, go!”
Samuel and Jackson ran as fast as they could, and they were both fast. They got onto the school grounds within seconds.
“Around the pole!” Samuel yelled,
There was a giant pole in the middle of the grounds, and Samuel grabbed the pole and swung around it to go the other way. Jackson tried to do the same, but missed and started to run into the side of the school. Then he started to glow, and he went straight through the wall. He looked at his hand, but had no time to think about it. He ran through the wall again, closing his eyes as he did so and ran to the starting point. Samuel was running at full speed, but Jackson ran past him and onto a hill to fly into the air. He landed right next to Sylvan.
“I think he wins.” Sylvan said while pointing at Jackson,
“Ow,” Jackson got up and focused on putting his armor away, the suit went back into the gauntlet. He decided to keep the gauntlet on for now, and turned to Samuel. “Can we do some real magic now, like the light spell I did before?”
Samuel looked at him and jumped in the air, “Yes! I’ve been waiting for you to say that!”
