How to get Male Lead's Heart

Chapter 12

Chapter 12

Jul 20, 2025

The silence of the night passed so quickly, the morning sun once again welcomed a new day. Lyra was currently lying restlessly on her bed, her forehead wet with cold sweat, her breath so ragged as if she was fleeing from something terrifying. Her fingers gripped the bedsheet tightly.

Outside the room, Mai knocked on Lyra's door then entered, several other servants behind her. One servant carried a large box containing makeup tools, two others were currently pushing a mannequin wearing a magnificent and beautiful wedding gown.

"Good morning, Lady," Mai said softly, walking closer to the bed in the room. "Today is an important day, you should—"

Her words stopped abruptly as her eyes caught sight of Lyra's restless state. Lyra's face was pale, her forehead covered in cold sweat, and her breath was ragged. Her eyes were open, but her gaze was empty—as if she hadn't truly recovered from something terrifying.

"Lady Celestia...!!" Mai exclaimed in a panicked tone.

She quickly turned to the servants who followed her. "You all, please call the family doctor right now? The Lady looks unwell!" her voice rose, followed by anxiety. Without waiting for a repeat order, one of the servants nodded then immediately rushed out of the room, her steps hurried towards the residence of the doctor who worked under the House Edeviene.

Mai approached Lyra's bedside, sitting on the edge of the bed while reaching for her mistress's trembling hand. "Lady... It's me, Mai. Are you alright...?" she asked, softly but full of concern.

Suddenly, Lyra gripped Mai's shoulder tightly. Her body trembled violently, as if she had just emerged from a nightmare that was too real. Her gaze was now directed at Mai, but her eyes were still blurry, almost desperate.

"My child... my child...!" Lyra's voice was hoarse, her breath hitched. "Do you know where my child is?!"

Mai was startled, her body tensed at those words.

"Answer me quickly...!" Lyra shrieked, her eyes now beginning to well up with tears, full of panic and long-suppressed pain.

Mai was silent for a moment, trying to understand the meaning of those words. On one hand, she was worried about her mistress's condition, she then looked at Lyra worriedly, "Lady... what do you mean...?"

"Where is my child...!" Lyra shouted again, tears now flowing freely from the corners of her eyes. "He... he is my reason for living right now... please tell me where my child is...! Don't just stand there...!"

Mai couldn't say anything at this moment, she just looked at Lyra worriedly, was her mistress having a nightmare...? If it was a dream, why did she react like that, as if she herself was experiencing it. Then, Lyra closed her eyes again, sweat still pouring down her temples.

Not long after, the doctor entered the room, he quickly checked Lyra's condition, his fingers checking her pulse on Lyra's hand then checking her body temperature and performing some further examinations.

Bang!

The door of the room opened forcefully, a middle-aged man with slightly graying brown hair and wearing a neat suit entered the room, it was Count Darian Edeviene. His expression at this moment was so worried after hearing the servant call the doctor to check on Celestia, his daughter.

"I heard one of the servants call the doctor to check on Tia..." Darian's voice sounded so worried. His steps immediately took him to his daughter's bedside, his gaze directly fixed on Lyra's pale face lying weakly.

"Lord...!" Mai was slightly surprised because Darian came suddenly, she then bowed to show respect, then stood back up showing a very worried expression at this moment.

"I apologize if I'm presumptuous, but... Lady Celestia, for some reason she looks so restless and shaken since this morning. She woke up with cold sweat and a trembling body. I'm worried something will happen to the Lady... even though this is a very important day..."

Darian only frowned after hearing that from Mai, he then clenched his fist and shifted his gaze to the doctor who seemed to have finished examining his daughter's condition.

"What happened to my daughter, Doctor? Is this just due to pressure before the wedding day, or is there something more serious...?"

The doctor bowed his head, then answered Darian's question carefully.

"Physically, the Lady has no serious injuries or illnesses, this is not my expertise but I suspect the Lady is showing signs of recent trauma that has not fully recovered."

Darian raised his eyebrows, looking at the doctor in surprise as if he couldn't believe what he was hearing. "What do you mean?"

"I don't understand either, Lord. But if I look at the Lady's current condition, I can only say that," the doctor said cautiously with his words.

His gaze shifted to Lyra who was sleeping soundly, then looked back at Darian. 'Yet, as I recall, Lady Celestia was a gentle and very cheerful girl."

Hearing those words, Darian's jaw slowly tightened. His eyes stared intently at his daughter's face, which now looked pale and fragile, far different from the Celestia he used to know, a girl who always greeted the day with a gentle smile and full of spirit.

"......Tia...." Darian murmured softly, almost inaudibly.

"For now, I have given the Lady a sedative," the doctor continued, breaking the silence. "I also hope the Lady is just having a nightmare, sometimes there are also some people who talk in their sleep due to the dream they are having."

The doctor then bowed respectfully, before leaving the room. "Then, if you'll excuse me, Lord."

Darian only nodded, he kept holding the back of her hand and looking at his daughter. Then Lyra's eyes slowly opened, she blinked repeatedly, her gaze fixed on a middle-aged man who was looking at her with great concern.

"...Father... why are you here?" Lyra asked in confusion.

"My dearest daughter...!" Darian's voice immediately broke, filled with the emotion he had been holding back. He bent down and immediately hugged his daughter tightly, Lyra herself didn't understand what was happening.

Mai, who was standing not far from the bed, covered her mouth with her hand, her eyes reddened as she watched the scene. She didn't know whether to feel relieved that her mistress was back to normal.

"Tia, my dear... are you alright, child?" Darian asked, then released his embrace and held his daughter's shoulders worriedly.

Lyra looked at Darian in confusion, she completely didn't understand what was happening now. As far as she remembered, she was looking at the moon then fell asleep and... Lyra's hand suddenly went up, clutching her head. A sharp pain hit her temple.

"Tia...!" Darian shouted worriedly.

"Why... why am I remembering this again...? Lyra thought to herself. Why is the moment coming back now... when I've come so far...?" She muttered, holding her head.

"Remember, Lyra Martha. You are healed now. You are not the woman you used to be. There's no point in remembering a past that will not be repeated." She exhaled slowly, "For now... I just need to focus. Today is the day. An important day. I have to go back to my duty... There's no point in thinking about the past again."

She then shook her head, her hand returned to touch the side of the bed, and she raised her face back to look at the man beside her bed who seemed to be worrying about her.

"I'm fine," Lyra said with a thin smile, "By the way... this is an important day, isn't it?" She slowly looked around the room, observing everyone gathered.

Mai stood anxiously, other servants still carrying makeup and the wedding dress attached to the magnificent mannequin in the corner of the room.

"Oh yes..." she added softly, then bit her lip for a moment. "I also have to get ready." She slowly slid her blanket aside, and lowered her feet to the cold floor.

Everyone in the room had worried expressions, Darian pulled his chair closer to his daughter then looked at her.

"Tia, are you sure?" Darian asked quickly, his concern for his daughter not fully subsided, "Can the wedding be postponed? Father is so worried. You look... not like yourself."

Lyra's face was flat for a moment, then she smiled slightly, and closed her eyes, a tiny bead of sweat seemed to fall on her cheek this time, she gently scratched her cheek with her index finger.

"It's alright, Father." Lyra said, looking at Darian, "...we shouldn't make the Lord Marquis wait, should we?"

Darian snorted for a moment, then shook his head. He really couldn't go against his daughter, especially when his daughter had such a confident and firm face, the same face her mother used to have when she had made a decision.

He exhaled slowly. "You are stubborn, just like your mother..." he muttered, half-smiling but with eyes still full of worry.

"Alright, if you say so yourself," he finally said, giving in gently. He then shifted his gaze to Mai and the other servants in the room, giving a small nod as a signal for them to immediately help his daughter get ready.

His gaze returned to Lyra, who was now sitting on the edge of the bed, trying to calm her breathing. "Father will wait for you," he said, his voice softer than before. "You get ready first..."

Lyra only smiled at that, Darian then walked towards the room door, occasionally looking back to make sure his daughter was truly alright. As the door closed, a momentary silence enveloped the room, before the soft sound of Mai's footsteps approaching filled the air.

Mai then looked at her mistress with a wide smile, "Alright, then let's begin, Lady," she said, rolling up her sleeves, ready to work. "I will make you very beautiful today. Everyone will be stunned when they see you."

Meanwhile, at the Hale residence, Pavel walked wearily through the corridors within the mansion. His footsteps echoed softly on the marble floor, voicing the anxiety that had filled his mind since earlier.

He was worried about his Lord's condition. Since the last clothing measurement, Keith had been holed up in his room. Not once had he come out, even when food was brought to the door, it was never touched.

Pavel knew very well that ever since Keith ended his relationship with Isabelle, he seemed to have no will to live, but today... today was a day he couldn't just ignore.

Pavel sighed softly and stopped directly in front of Keith's room door. He knocked gently on the large wooden door, refraining from sounding too urgent.

"Lord, I apologize if I'm disturbing you, but today is a day you cannot miss even if you wanted to," Pavel said. However, there was no answer from inside, he waited for a while, then slowly opened the unlocked door.

As soon as the door opened, his eyes widened. The bed was empty. The curtains swayed gently, the window half-open, letting the morning breeze in and rustling the scattered documents on the table.

"Oh my goodness..." Pavel whispered, his face instantly pale. "My Lord... where in the world are you...!!"
