Emily stood up from her desk the moment Skoll walked in the office, hands on her hips, shaking her head.
"He's in with a patient." She said firmly.
Skoll waved her off, taking a seat in one of the chairs in the waiting lounge. He wasn't told it was a rush but Tonka said he needed to see the both of them the moment they were available and it had to be today. He looked at his phone, it was only half an hour.
Emily sat back in her chair, once she was satisfied that he wasn't going to go storming in again. Skoll couldn't help but notice that Emily kept fidgeting in her chair.
"Do you sit still?"
Emily cut her eyes at him. "For your information if you haven't noticed I'm growing a baby here and they're having a hay day just kicking away." She ran her hand over her belly, leaning further back in her chair. "You wanna feel?"
A complete look of disgust came over Skoll's face, "And why and the hell would I want to do that?"
The two of them looked at each other. Skoll wasn't a fan of hers. It felt like she knew something he didn't.
"Elliot will." She smirked, waiting as the door opened, saying her usual goodbyes to the client. "Elliot." She grabbed his hand, placing it over her belly. "Feel that?"
Skoll had never seen Elliot's face light up the way it did then. A large lump formed in the back of his throat. They had never talked about kids. He himself had never even thought about them. Well, Skoll didn't count the thoughts of the omega bearing his alpha offspring. That was different. Hell they haven't talked about what they were, but it was clear Elliot wanted kids. He saw a similar look on Elliot's face when he was talking to Chuck at the potluck. Skoll forced a smile as Elliot looked over his shoulder at him.
"We decided to wait this time?" Elliot teased.
"Funny." Skoll stood up, "We've been requested."
"Tonka?"
"Yep, and it sounds like the sooner the better."
"So, no time to go home and change?"
"Nope."
Elliot turned back to Emily, "You mind locking up for the night?"
"No problem boss. I'm still waiting on Ben. He said he was running a bit late." She gathered up a few files on her desk. "I mean I don't see why he doesn't let me drive, it would save him some stress, but you know . . ."
"He worries about you." Elliot chimed, grabbing his things. "Same goes for me, so text me when you leave."
She batted her lashes, "Of course."
Skoll let out a low growl in her direction. Yeah, he didn't like her.
* * * * *
Tonka was waiting in his office for them, offering them to take a seat. Skoll chose to stand, arms crossed over his chest. Elliot loosened his tie, suddenly feeling like this wasn't going to be a good kind of request. He felt like he had just been called in to see the principal.
"Brandon called me this morning."
This quickly got Skoll's attention. What was Brandon doing calling Tonka?
"Crash has gone missing. Along with other males from nearby packs. They need our help to find them and bring them home."
"No." Skoll said firmly, getting Elliot to look in his directions.
"Who's Brandon and Crash?" Asked Elliot.
Tonka looked towards Skoll. He figured he would have told Elliot about them by now. He guessed wrong. Then again he could also see why not.
"Crash is my nephew . . ."
"And the old number two of the pack before he asked for an out. So no. He got what he wanted. Brandon too." As far as Skoll was concerned they were dead to the pack. They didn't owe them anything.
"Skoll." Tonka said as a warning. It was going to be the only one he was going to give too.
"What does this have to do with me?" Elliot was new, this didn't involve him.
"I need Skoll to come with me which means I need you to come."
"Me?" Elliot pointed to himself, shifting in his chair.
"Yes." Tonka looked to him then Skoll, who now decided to take a seat.
"I can't up and leave. I have work. I have people who depend on me." Elliot said motioning for Skoll to back him.
Tonka took in a breath, "You accepted this is what accepting looks like. You do what is needed. You come when called."
Elliot wasn't sure as to how he felt about the tone Tonka was now using with him. It really sounded like do or die. Also that he clearly didn't have a choice in the matter. The decision had already been made for him.
"Fine." Skoll finally said, "I'll come but Elliot stays." He didn't like the idea of bringing Elliot into whatever it was Crash stepped in. He'll be safer here. Nor did he like the fact that Tonka didn't believe he could control himself.
Tonka looked at Skoll, like that would turn out well at all. Crash gone. Quinn alone. Tonka shook his head. "You need him." He motioned to Elliot. "And you know why."
"Why?" Elliot was only getting more confused by the moment.
Skoll looked at Elliot. Tonka hasn't been the only one to tell him that they notice a change for the better when Elliot was around.
"How long are we talking? A couple of days." Asked Elliot.
"It's going to take us a couple of days to even get there."
Elliot ran his hands over his face, slouching back. "How long before we leave?"
Tonka stood, "You got a day to get things in order."
"A DAY!" Elliot shot forward. "I need more than a day. I have appointments to change. I don't even know how long to push them out for. I have Star."
Tonka looked to Skoll, "Star?"
"His cat."
Tonka started laughing, "You would find a mate that's a cat person."
"What's wrong with being a cat daddy?" Elliot asked offended.
"Nothing." Tonka and Skoll said in unison but gave a look.
