LEAVE : The Shadow's Behind

LEAVE Part 17

LEAVE Part 17

Oct 11, 2025

Even after they hit the road Elliot's mind was going over everything he did before he left. He was sure he was missing something. He had to be missing something. They had just enough time for him to go back to his place, shower, change, grab his things, and say goodbye to Star before Tonka pulled up out front.

Tonka whistled watching as Skoll walked out with Elliot's bags in tow. He had packed as little as possible, but he didn't know what they were going to be getting into so he might have overdone it a bit. Skoll strapped the bags down to Elliot's bike, adding the one that didn't fit to his own. Skoll cut Tonka a look when he started to snicker.

Unlike Tonka, Skoll and Elliot for the most part were casual riders. They've never done long distance rides before. So, neither were looking forward to ten hour or longer rides. Tonka wanted to get there as soon as possible. Time was of the essence.

* * * * *

"Fuck!" Yelled Elliot from the motel bathroom where Tonka decided to stop for the night.

"What?" Groaned Skoll from the bed. He had flopped down after he kicked his boots off and he wasn't planning on moving.

"I forgot my toothbrush." He leaned his head out, "I told you I forgot something." He hoped that was the only thing he forgot.

"Just use mine."

"Gross." Kissing Skoll was one thing but using his toothbrush crossed a line.

"Do you want me to see if the motel manager has any?"

"Please."

Skoll came back five minutes later with a fresh toothbrush, Elliot was already in the shower, so he left it on the counter for him. By the time Elliot got out, Skoll was passed out on the bed boots and all.

Tonka was up before them, waiting on his bike ready to go. He was kind enough to grab them both some day old coffee from the motel office before they hit the road.

* * * * *

It took a few days before Elliot brought up that they needed to talk still. Skoll was kind of hoping that he had forgotten about it. They had been go go go, and were too tired when they found a place to stay for the night to do anything other than sleep.

"There's nothing to talk about." Said Skoll leaning back on the bed.

"If so, then why did Tonka say you needed me to come and you knew why?" Elliot pointed his new toothbrush at him. He was currently in the bathroom gettjng ready for bed. "What's Crash and Brandon to you?"

"Eli." Skoll goraned.

"If you don't tell me I'll just ask Tonka."

Skoll gritted his teeth. "Crash was the old second. You could say I've been gunning for his spot ever since he got it. . . "

"You don't like him?" Elliot got the vibe the minute Crash's name was dropped.

"I don't. He's an ass and a jerk that gets everything he wants. Even the mark." Skoll said the last bit more under his breath but Elliot caught it.

"Mark?"

Skoll leaned up, "The mark is earned. He didn't earn it."

Elliot looked at him like that meant something to him. "Outsider." He pointed to himself sitting at the end of the bed. "Plus you think everyone is an ass."

"One must be vetted. Asked to join once they've earned the trust and respect of the pack. To be bitten is to be chosen to be given a gift. Crash wasn't vetted. He just got bit."

"So by being bit against his will it makes him the lesser?"

It sounded fucked up but yes. Skoll nodded his head.

"Is that the only reason you don't like him?"

Skoll rolled his eyes. Were they really talking about this? "You've done some research right?"

"Maybe."

Skoll knew he had. He wouldn't have learned that he was a wolf and not look into it.

"Anything about an Omega come up?"

Elliot shook his head.

"We have Alpha's." Skoll pointed to himself, "And Beta's but there's also Omega's. They were rare before and even more so now but Crash found one." He hated that he just admitted that Crash was the one that found Quinn.

Elliot motioned for him to keep going.

"Omega's are special." Skoll paused. He was about to really step in it. "They have a pull over Alpha's, a strong one. Their pheromones are like catnip to us . . . having an omega in the pack would have been a game changer." Once the words started they didn't stop, "We could have easily pushed out more natural born alpha's with ease. Omega's are meant for breeding . . . "

Elliot stood up, shaking his head. He might have read something on mating. "You didn't?"

"Of course not." Skoll stood up defending himself.

"But you wanted too?"

Skoll didn't even have to say anything Elliot could read it all over his face. It took a moment but he started laughing, and not the ha ha funny laugh.

"I had to uproot my entire life and come out here to keep you in line?" Elliot couldn't believe it. "Tonka expects me to hold you back while . . . while your wolf instincts run wild."

"No."

"Yes." Elliot countered. "How's your little liking of me supposed to overrule the draw of  'this Omega'." He air quoted. His emotions getting the better of him. Tonka told him that Skoll wouldn't leave him. That wolf's only had one mate. He never mentioned the loophole of an Omega.

"Eli, it's not like that."

"I need you to leave." Elliot motioned to the door.

"Eli . . . "

"I said go."

Skoll felt like his ears were tucked down and tail between his legs as he walked to the door. Things are different now. Before he didn't have Elliot.

"GO." Shouted Elliot when Skoll looked back at him.

* * * * * *

Tonka was already waiting at his door when Skoll walked out. "Should have told him about Quinn before."

"Fuck off." Snarled Skoll as he shoved past Tonka. As far as Skoll had been concerned Crash and the Omega were gone never to come back so Elliot wasn't in the need to know of them.

"You're sleeping on the floor." Commented Tonka as he closed the door.
