Hun wasn't a patient man, for his temper could only have gotten him this far. He hadn't intended to drive to this house that morning; however, seeing that his former coach and Noelle were not answering his call after yesterday's uncomfortable meeting, he left without thinking. But then, he hadn't equally expected to meet with Uta.
'Wasn't it rather late for him to be home? Or perhaps he would open shop earlier than usual because of the deliveries he'd make for me.' He wondered, panting for breath while sprinting away from the man he'd sworn to plummer the moment he'd seen him.
'This is unsightly...running away like a scared dog. What's wrong with me?'
He looked back, relieved to have lost his pursuer, who'd immediately sprinted after him. It had been quite a spectacle that Hun believed this situation would be hilarious if they had been friends.
Swiping sweat from his forehead, he hid behind a tall tree and stood beneath it. He'd hoped to catch up with Uta's father yesterday after he'd left abruptly and apologise for his parent's behaviour, but he'd disappeared quicker than expected for someone with reduced mobility.
'This puts me at a disadvantage. He must think I'll treat his son the same way for him to nullify my proposal.' Hyun sighed heavily and looked around the park for any familiar face. It was a relief Uta hadn't caught up to him, or perhaps he'd lost the will to chase after him.
'But why did I run as soon as he opened the door? He must think me a coward, and this hurts my pride. Even so, how do I face him after what happened between us? I hardly remember much of that day. My last memory of him was his pheromones feeling up the corridor to the point of wanting to eat him up.'
Glancing at the car keys in his hand, Hun laughed frustratedly. "I could have at least driven off instead of running away like a buffoon."
"Hey there."
The unfamiliar voice startled Hun from his thoughts, and he turned around to find two men and a lady approaching him cautiously, their arms slightly raised as if gesturing they meant no harm. He remained unresponsive until he saw the lustful and flustered look on their faces, causing his body to stiffen instantly.
"I believe you've realised what's happening here." One of the guys asked. "You are an Omega, aren't you?"
Hun remained silent but maintained a calm look on him.
"He must be new here. I've never seen you around before." The lady spoke, sizing Hun from his expensive clothing, then added, "I'm an Alpha, and my friends here are bonded Alpha and Omega.
"It would give me great pleasure to mingle with the likes of you, but if I were to spend more time here, I'd have to use my energy unnecessarily."
"Hey, calm down. We are not here to attack you. As I said, one of us is an Omega, and I have no intention of mingling with a helpless Omega like yourself. I have my Alpha pride in check." The lady spoke defensively, lowering her arms after coming to a halt. "We want to warn you that exposing yourself is dangerous. You know Betas hate us. Therefore, they wouldn't hesitate to grab you for a feast. If someone yelled your gender, even the three of us wouldn't be able to protect you. However, if you are not afraid to not pass the chance of being exposed, we are willing to make that happen..."
"He might just believe you Anaa! Stop teasing him!"
"Yeah, he is rather arrogant for someone publicly going on heat. Luckily I took rut suppressants earlier with you two bozos always making out carelessly!"
'What?' Hun seemed perplexed but did his best to hide it. "I'm not going into heat."
The lady replied, dismissing Hun's defence, "If you show us where your car is, we might be able to help you reach your pheromone inhibitors before you get yourself in trouble."
"This is not heat. I was running simply away from someone." Hun admitted, feeling somewhat embarrassed.
"Who?"
"You bastard! I got you now!"
"Him." Hun pointed at a fuming Uta, who was sprinting towards them.
"Him? You're running away from Uta?" The girl asked in disbelief.
"You know him?" Hun inquired, seeming surprised.
"Yeah! Why would anyone be running away from Uta?"
"Keep him away from me!" Hun shouted, shielding himself from his fast-approaching pursuer.
"Stop letting out your pheromones, you jerk!"
"Uta, calm down!" The two guys held him back and tried to contain the situation. "You're going to draw unwanted attention towards us."
"I don't know him!" Hun exclaimed. "He won't stop stalking me!"
"You shameless liar! ...Ugh!" Uta's body stiffened from the sudden discomfort at the pit of his stomach. He reached to cover his nose, struggled to break free from the two men holding him, and looked at them accusingly. "Did you two just come from doing it?"
"Yeah, they did." The lady replied, cutting in. "I told you two to give it time for your pheromones to wear off, but you wouldn't listen." The lady shouted scoldingly. "Now even Uta knows."
"Oh, you mean sex?" One of the guys said shamelessly, then looked at his partner, his expression seeming excited. "We had it until Anaa interrupted us."
"You two are exasperating." The girl spoke, seeming utterly disappointed, then broke Uta free from her friends' grasp. "Anyway, sort out your issue with your Omega. As a fellow Alpha, I can tell the two of you have not completely bonded since his pheromones don't seem to affect you much. You know the law about letting out pheromones in public, right?"
Uta became even more agitated than he already was. "The heck are you calling him my Omega for?"
The two guys and the girl appeared confused. It was as if they saw the obvious, but Uta was denying it.
"But...he's been releasing a seductive pheromone since he saw you, so we just assumed... Wait... you didn't notice the change?"
"I did dummy! I can smell it!"
"Then why are you denying your relationship to him? That's unbecoming for an Alpha."
"Yeah, Uta, this is unlike you, acting just like a Beta would."
Uta sighed in surrender, still covering his nose and mouth, then glanced at Hun. "Let's go back to the house and finish this. I have to open shop soon."
"No."
"What the...? Then why did you come to my house then? Didn't you want to talk?"
"I wanted to speak to your father, not you."
"Stay away from my pops if you're just going to talk about me."
"I've heard enough," Hun said, and with a brief nod to the three strangers, who appeared baffled by the unfolding drama in front of them, he began walking back from where he'd come from, but Uta had been quick to grab onto his hand, maintaining a firm grip.
"This once, I'm going to let this go and be a gentleman, but you should know in this neighbourhood, we have an Alpha and Omega protection program, so when you pheromone out like that, you put us all in danger, and I will be held responsible for it."
Snatching his hand away, Hun replied before sprinting away. "Don't you ever touch me again."
"Wow Uta. I'd love to see you two fight, but I'm afraid my bet will be on the angry Omega." One of the guys, who was also an Omega said teasingly, resting his arm around Uta's shoulder. "What did you do for him to denounce you like that publicly? He even told us he doesn't know you."
"Yes Uta. It doesn't take an Omega to know that that guy likes you." The girl said. "As Alphas, we know a hopeless Omega when we see them. His scent may feel lustful to us, but to a fellow Omega, it's specific, just like we can tell from your pheromones how much you dislike him."
"You're not wrong there. I despise him. What I do not understand is, for someone that likes me, why did he treat me like crap every chance he got?"
"How should we know?" One of the guys asked. "We just got here!"
"That was a rhetorical question, you fool!"
"Hey! Stop insulting my Omega! No wonder that guy denied you!"
