Before continuing with the story, I would like to, if allowed, paint a picture of one of our town’s more unique districts. The Nassaryottics.

In my travels, I found that Nassaryotts and their customs varied greatly from town to town. Thus, people often disagree on what their true beliefs consist of. Many consider the ones still living on their home island, Nassa, to be the only true Nassaryotts. The authentic ones.

I don’t believe that. I feel obligated to represent those living in Riviella, and their way of life, as thoroughly and accurately as I can. Since such a description is bound to be somewhat extensive, I would like to apologize in advance to the readers. For all those who want to experience just the story, without any background, I recommend skipping the next two chapters.
