The future through a dream

Dark Demons life in the neon city 2

Dark Demons life in the neon city 2

Jul 30, 2025

Chapter 9: “Corebreaker’s Vault”

The entrance to the dungeon pulsed like a heartbeat. Challenge-level gates didn’t glow blue—they burned red.

[DUNGEON: COREBREAKER’S VAULT – CHALLENGE LEVEL]
RECOMMENDED: LVL 40+
PARTY STATUS: Knight (Lv. 37) | Sun (Lv. 32) | Yen (Lv. 16)

Yen stared at the warning flashing across his HUD. “We’re… going in there?”

“Relax,” Sun said. “We’ve got Knight. He tanked a Raid Titan solo last week.”

Knight didn’t look relaxed.

“Yeah. And that Titan didn’t have 200K HP and an AI core battery for a heart.”

The Dungeon

Inside, the vault was massive—layered in stone, neon veins pulsing like circuitry. The air hummed with static.

They cut through the first waves. AI-laced specters and core-hounds. Sun punched through mobs with flowing kicks. Knight sliced with ruthless precision. Yen held his own—barely—running assist plays and quickfire slashes.

But as they neared the final chamber, everything slowed.

The boss stood like a statue at the far end—a monstrous thing with armor made of chrome shards and smoke. Six glowing cores pulsed across its body.

[CORE GUARDIAN – LVL 55 – AI Core Density: High]

“Okay,” Sun said. “We run in, we rotate skills, we—”

Knight cut her off. “We run when it charges. No hero plays.”

They tried.
Hard.
The Guardian deflected everything. Yen used a modded AI pulse—barely scratched it. Sun took a core-beam to the chest and dropped to 20% HP. Knight’s sword cracked from a counter-slam.

Yen’s hands trembled on his interface. “We can’t do this.”

Knight swore. “We’re pulling out.”

Then—

BOOM.

The entire boss staggered back, glitching wildly.

A blade had hit it. A single, massive, glowing blade.
And a figure stood where no one had been a second ago. Full-body armor. Gold-lined. Glitch-stable. His name flickered above:

900 – LVL 60 – Class: Unknown

The Reinforcement

“Stand back,” 900 said calmly, stepping forward. His voice echoed—processed, smooth.

He leapt. Moved like lightning. His attacks didn’t just cut—they deleted chunks of the Guardian’s core. He wasn’t just powerful—he knew the fight.

Yen watched in awe. Sun’s jaw actually dropped.

“Who is this guy?” she whispered.

In five minutes, the Guardian screeched, overloaded, and shattered—AI cores spilling out like crystal blood.

900 walked through the chaos and picked up only one. He left the rest on the ground.

“Take what you earned,” he said.

Knight narrowed his eyes. “Why help?”

900 turned to them, his visor flickering. “Because I’ve been where that kid is.” He nodded toward Yen. “And someone helped me once.”

New Connection

As the four walked out of the dungeon gate, packs heavy with AI cores, a new group tag flickered over their HUDs:

[Friend Added: 900]

Yen looked at him, still unsure. “What’s your class?”

900 smiled beneath his mask. “Doesn’t matter. You’ll figure it out when it matters.”

Scene Ends

Chapter 10: “No One’s Gang”

The gang terminal was buried in a quiet part of Neon Row, behind a building coded to look like an abandoned metro station. Glowing graffiti marked the walls—stylized sigils of the top gangs.

Yen tapped the console.
A screen flared to life:
[Accessing Gang System…]

Dozens of names flickered across the interface:

Cat Cafe ☕Egoist ⛓️Hercules ⚔️White ⬜Rogue Pulse, Crow’s Net, Neon Fang, and more...

He paused, staring at the colorful emblems, when Sun’s voice pinged through the party chat.

Sun: "Looking at gangs, aren’t you?"

Yen: "Yeah. Just… checking."

Sun: "I’m already in Cat Cafe. Chill group. We mostly run aesthetic raids and community events. They’d lose it if I left."

Knight: "I’m part of Egoist. We do elite raids and deep-data hunts. I’ve got roots there."

900: "Hercules Gang. No-nonsense, high-level grinders. I don’t belong anywhere else—yet."

Yen: "...So that’s a no on starting our own?"

There was silence for a moment.

Sun: "Not forever. Just not now."

Knight: "I gave them years. Can’t walk out on them mid-season."

900: "But one day? Maybe."

Yen looked back at the screen, fingers hovering.
His heart felt heavy—not jealousy. Just the weight of being the one left behind. Again.

He scrolled down and found a simple icon: a white square on a black void.

[White ⬜] – Rank D Gang – Open Enrollment. Motto: "Start with nothing. Build everything."]

Yen: "I’m joining White."

Sun: "Huh. Not bad."

Knight: "Clean slate. Smart."

900: "We’ll keep an eye on you, Gang Leader."

Scene End

Yen stood outside the metro terminal, new badge glowing faintly on his HUD:

[GANG: White ⬜ | Member Rank: 1 | Total Members: 3]

It wasn’t big.
It wasn’t powerful.
But it was his.

And someday… maybe it’d be theirs.

Chapter 11: “White Begins”

The next day, the party tab was silent.

Sun: Offline
Knight: Offline
900: Offline

Yen sighed, tossing a rusted AI battery to a merchant bot in the plaza. “Just me again, huh.”

He checked his gang tab:
[Gang: WHITE ⬜ | Status: Connected]
→ Leader: GRAYY – Online

With nothing else to do, he teleported to White HQ—a converted neon-washed warehouse on the far edge of the Data District. Rusted code hung from the walls like ivy, and the logo—a glowing square—buzzed faintly on every surface.

Inside stood a tall figure wearing a cracked chrome jacket and glowing headphones.
Username: GRAYY
Gang Rank: ★★★★★
Real chill energy. But the kind of guy who’s probably seen some heavy stuff.

GRAYY: “Yo. You the new blood?”
Yen: “Yeah. Joined yesterday.”
GRAYY: “Good call. Welcome to White.”

GRAYY tossed him a care package:

x20 Instant Hack Chips1 Synth-stitch Jacket [Tier B]Access to Gang Terminal: Resource Ops

GRAYY: “First mission’s light. Just a resource cycle. Boring, but we all gotta do it. Auto-collect program’ll handle most of it, just make sure no rogue scrapers interrupt.”

Yen activated the Resource Collection Protocol and let the system begin auto-farming over the next couple hours. With nothing else to do, he headed to the Community Building—a chill hangout space where gang members could voice chat, watch PvP streams, or just vibe.

There, lounging on a virtual couch with a half-eaten synth pizza, was another member.

Username: SAYO
Level: 19
Faction: WHITE
Status: [Listening to LoFi Synthwave]

SAYO: “You’re the new guy, huh?”
Yen: “Yeah. First day.”
SAYO: “I’m Sayo. Been here three months. Grayy’s a real one. Helped me get through my first elite raid.”
Yen: “You know him IRL?”
SAYO: “Kinda. We’re from the same side of the world. Cities apart, but same servers. You?”

Yen nodded, half-smiling. It felt easy talking to Sayo. Chill guy. Helpful. Reminded him a bit of Knight before Knight started leveling like crazy.

They watched a PvP tournament for a while as Yen’s mission auto-progressed.

But in the back of Yen’s mind…
The dream still flickered.

[Thought: I still want a gang of my own. With Knight. Sun. 900.]

Not now.
But someday.

For now…
He’d level up. Build. Learn.
White was just the beginning.

Chapter 12: “Broken Code, Beating Heart”

> [Memory Fragment Detected: User – Sayo]

Dark static bleeds into the screen.
An apartment—bare, flickering light, mold on the corners.
A boy leans over a sink, washing blood off a cracked lip with his left hand.
His right arm is broken, wrapped in a cheap brace. Swollen.

Screams echo from another room.
His mother’s coughing fits have grown worse.
The meds? Too expensive now.
Food? He skipped again.

> “Sayo! Don’t go out today—please!”

But he did.
Because loan sharks don’t skip days.

---

IRL – Somewhere in the Concrete South of a War-Battered Country

Sayo worked shifts in a factory, then as a street delivery biker, then late-night dishwashing.
All before 4AM.

He was 16. Maybe 17. Even he had lost track.
The world outside was sharp and cruel. His country didn’t cradle kids like him—it devoured them.

That night, a man in a suit stopped him by the alley.

> Loan Shark: “Late again, huh?”
Crack.
The metal pipe landed clean on his shoulder.

His arm hasn’t healed since.

---

> [Memory Fragment Ends]
Returning to current log…

---

Virtual Reality – White Gang Community Hub

Sayo leaned back on the synthetic couch, the LoFi still playing.
A cool glow lit his avatar, wearing smooth armor and a smug, unreadable face.

But behind the mask…

…was a boy who hadn’t eaten in two days.
Whose real arm was wrapped in bloody gauze.

He didn’t complain.
He played.
Because CyberCode Online gave him something real life never did:

Respect.
Control.
Peace.

---

Yen glanced over at Sayo. He didn’t know all that. Not yet.

But something about the way Sayo stayed online all night. The way he always helped others, but never asked for anything back…

It made Yen wonder.

> Yen: “You good?”
Sayo (smiling): “Yeah. Always.”

---

Next Up:

Yen and Sayo get assigned to a real-time defense op on the outskirts of White's border.

A bounty on AI-core smugglers puts Sayo in danger—he needs the money, but it might expose him to a real-world threat.

Flashback from Sayo's past links to someone in Grayy's past—revealing why Grayy takes special care of struggling members.

Chapter 13: “Logout Isn’t Freedom”

Montage Begins — Real World to CyberCode

Every day is a copy-paste cycle.

Yen steps off the school van, dragging his bag like a sack of bones. His mom’s voice echoes from the kitchen. His dad’s TV screams sports noise. But Yen doesn’t respond. Doesn’t even look.Straight to the room.Door shut.

Light out. World off.

But not for long.

[Login Successful — Welcome Back, Yen]

Inside CyberCode, everything is reversed.

Here, Yen isn’t a kid.
He’s a level-grinding machine.
Here, he’s respected, seen, and alive.

Time blurs.

XP bars fill.Missions blur into one another. He talks with players. Laughs.Gathers loot. Builds tools.Learns the economy.Earns his gang rank.

But no matter how high he climbs, something’s missing.

His friends—Night, Sun, 900—they’re still in their own corners.
Still locked in other gangs.
Still far.
