Chapter: XP Rush – Algorithmic Ocean

The sky flickered with neon clouds, and below, the dark blue chrome-tinted waters of the Algorithmic Ocean shimmered with danger. Yen stood at the bow of his cyber-ship, the Pixel Raider, watching the glitchy sea move like a giant breathing circuit board. He was now level 118. Still behind Sun in their little XP race, but climbing fast.

The ocean was coded chaos—filled with cybernetic sea beasts, virus-infected AIs, and rogue algorithms that could strip your armor stats down to zero. But so far… nothing. Not a single fight.

“Too quiet,” Yen mumbled, adjusting the long-range scan with one hand and munching on a protein byte with the other.

Then came the voice.

“You heading to the pirate’s nest too?”

Yen spun around, slightly startled. Standing near the engine room was a tall figure with a cloak made of fiber optics and a calm expression. His name glowed above his head:

[Autumn Leaf – Lvl 229 – Legendary Class: Digital Monk]

“Dude! Where the hell did you come from?” Yen asked, half ready to draw his plasma shredder.

“I’ve been here since port. You were too focused on setting the ship to autopilot. Calm down.”

Autumn Leaf was cool, older, and his vibe said retired final boss energy. He explained his quest: to complete one last pirate protocol and obtain the Automated Storage Unit, a reward powerful enough to let him store rare dreams and logout permanently from this world. He had made that decision on Day 1. Now, this quest was his final chapter.

As they sailed deeper, the mist turned violet. A rumble echoed under the sea.

“Brace yourself,” Autumn Leaf said.

A giant metal tentacle erupted from the water, smashing onto the ship’s edge.

ALERT: CYBER-KRAKEN DETECTED – LVL 190 WORLD BOSS

It roared like a corrupted speaker on full blast. Its body was a mess of cables, steel plating, and spiked mecha-limbs. Each tentacle had a different weapon—buzz saws, EMP shooters, laser turrets, flamethrowers.

The Pixel Raider rocked violently. Hull damage reached 52%. Water systems offline. Fire systems offline.

Yen screamed, “I just FIXED this damn ship!”

Autumn Leaf calmly activated a golden shield around the ship and jumped onto the front deck. “Keep it alive. I’ll handle the Kraken.”

While Autumn clashed with the beast, dodging and deflecting blows with his glowing staff, Yen ducked into the engine room, rerouting power and force-repairing damaged circuits. Sparks flew everywhere. The system rebooted with 6% HP left on the ship.

“We’re barely floating!”

Another tentacle struck. Yen shot it with a pulse round and ran back out. That’s when he noticed something.

“Wait… every time we break a tentacle, it regrows… but the Kraken’s head lights up every time it does!”

Autumn nodded mid-dodge. “It’s got a regeneration core.”

“Then we nuke the core!”

“Got a plan?”

Yen grinned. “Boost me.”

Without hesitation, Autumn activated his gravity-jump booster and threw Yen into the air—skyrocketing above the Kraken, who screamed in corrupted code.

Up in the clouds, Yen shouted:

“MEGA BLASTER – DESTRUCT MODE!!!”

A massive beam of blue and red energy blasted from his cannon, cutting through the air like a meteor strike. It hit the Kraken’s glowing head-core and exploded with a sound that crashed the game’s audio files for a second.

The sea fell quiet.

[BOSS DEFEATED: Cyber-Kraken]

Loot dropped all around them. Autumn got an Epic Weapon – Storm Pulse Naginata. Yen received stacks of tech scrap… and then a glowing item appeared.

[RARE DROP: Synaptic Acceleration Transmitter (S.A.T)]

His eyes widened. This was the second time he’d gotten one of these. The first was at level 3 from a random broken bot during a tutorial mission. He never told anyone about that drop—because it didn’t make sense.

This item was only supposed to be available through VIP Control Packs, which meant sacrificing actual real-life lifespan. But Yen never did that.

And now… here it was again.

He looked at the rare transmitter. It shimmered like a forbidden power core. Something too strong to use… yet too rare to throw away.

“Not yet,” he whispered, sliding it into his hidden gear pocket.

Autumn Leaf glanced over. “You got something special, didn’t you?”

Yen just smirked. “Nah. Just more junk scrap.”

But his mind was spinning.

What was this item really? Why did he get it twice?

And why… did he feel like someone—or something—was watching every time he touched it?
