Cap. Marcello: “Years ago, dark creatures were sent here to destroy our world. Which is why, here at Aegi Corp, we specialise in the capture and neutralisation of this threat. We contain special facilities and technology, as well as special training for Aegistar wielders, due to their purifying abilities. Which is why we hold yearly tryouts to become an official Aegi Corp member. We have selected 500 people who we believe to have the most potential in the country. Today is the day the prove yourself.”
Paprika wakes up late for tryouts. She rushes out of the door, using her Aegistar’s explosion to propel herself through the sky.
Rika (voiceover): “Our Aegistar has been with my family for generations, but my parents believed that i should be the one to merge with it, so that i can protect people.”
She arrives at the tryouts building and meets her friend, Caspian, an intelligent mechanical engineer.
R: Yo! Cas! (falling from sky)
C: Just because you have a star, doesn’t mean you have to show off all the time.
R: Yeah, yeah, whatever. Anyways, aren’t you excited?
C: I guess, mostly nervous.
R: What do you have to be nervous about, i mean, it’s only what, 400 other people you have to triumph over.
C: When you put it like that it makes it even worse.
R: Ha!
They enter the tryouts building and sign in. The proceed into the main room with the 498 other competitors.
Cap. Marc: Greetings, competitors. You all have been selected to be candidates for this year’s tryouts to become a member of Aegi Corp. Out of the 500 of you here, only 20 of you will be able to become Corp members. Now, some of you may be users of Aegistar wielders, however, i’ve met many who have become too reliant on their power, which lead to their downfall. Don’t let it get to your head.
Annoying Guy: Excuse me, but i think it’s obvious that those with stars are objectively superior to those without, it’s simply a fact. shows his Chain Star
M: Be quiet. If you spoke up against me like that with a position. You’d be fired. You’re the exact type of person i’m criticising. So i suggest you sit down.
Annoying Guy: scowls and sits down
M: Now, here’s how things will work. Each of you will be put in a sector from 1-5. You will go through a series of evaluation tests. First, a rescue simulation. You’ll be measured by your ability to safely, relocate injured civilians, while also minimising damage to surroundings. Second, a battle simulation against controlled Malurea. Here you’ll be tested on your destructive capabilities. After that, a one-on-one battle. Malureans aren’t going to be the only enemies you’ll have to face, i can guarantee you that. Lastly, a race to the finish where the top 8 fighters from each sector will be in pairs, which will be broadcasted to the public. You’ll be tested on your battle tactics and strategic ability, as well as physical skills. Now, each of you have your section number on the card you were given when signing in. Only four people from each sector will be chosen to be members. Good luck to everyone.” Doors open.
Rika: I’m in sector 5. What about you?
Caspian: Sector 2.
Rika: Phew. Anyways, you better not fail.
Cas: I could say the same to you.
they enter their respective rooms
cut to two aegi corp members walking through a dark forest
Marcello (flashback on phone): “There have been reports of a mysterious girl with red eyes being seen near a low populated village.”
Agent 1 (flashback on phone): “So you think it’s her? The demon girl?”
M: “Almost certain.”
Agent 2: Why does it have to be so foggy out here?
Agent 1: Well, you’re the one with the Aegistar, what do you have to be scared about?
Agent 2: Shut up.
they hear weird noises coming from a house
1: Did you hear that?
2: Of course i heard it!
they enter the house to see Akkari eating a man’s corpse
1: Holy shit.
2: Seconded.
Akkari stares at them, terrified
2: Don’t move! she shows Quartz Aegistar
Agent 1 raises laser gun
Akkari snarls and leaps at Agent 1, Agent 2 slams Aegistar into her, crashing through the building wall
A: Grr! Go away!
1: Sorry, but we can’t do that.
she charges at them, lunging with her sharp nails, 1 fires at her, while 1 pelts her with quartz. Akkari yells in rage
Akkari: LEAVE ME ALONE!
2: Evil like you simply cannot be left alone!
She barrages Akkari with quartz. Akkari breaks through, her hair starting to raise. She grabs Agent 2’s cheek and rips it open.
Agent 1: No! he fires at Akkari’s arm, injuring her. Akkari growls and escapes. Agent 1 sinks to his knees in front of Agent 2. He pulls out his phone and calls Marcello
M: What is it? the tryouts are about to start. Did you catch the girl?
1: She..got away. And she did a lot of damage.
M: sigh I’ll send a medical unit. And then i’m sending another team to catch the girl.
cut back to tryout building. Rika looks around the destroyed city simulation. She sees Annoying Guy (Alexander Hans on nametag) looking annoying.
Marcello on projection: in this destroyed city simulation, you have to rescue civilians from the aftermath of Malurea attack. You have half an hour to save as many civilians as possible while minimising damage. You may begin.
