Soul Stasis -Arc 1- "Aphrodite"

SS - |Ep 4, Part 3| - "From Dawn to Dusk"

SS - |Ep 4, Part 3| - "From Dawn to Dusk"

Aug 27, 2025

Another day begins. Light rain is trickling, hitting the roof of the cabin while small, mantaray-like bugs chirp and chime near the window of the kitchen. A small ray of light coming from the sun hit's Alex's eyelid as he slowly opens them. He looks around, getting up carefully, noticing no signs of biological life within the home. No noises, no laughs, humming, sounds other than the raindrops and a couple of bugs or amphibial wildlife.

He holds his head steady, closing his eyes and remembering the past events that were held inside of what looked to be a mausoleum library. A figure with white hair and dark skin smiling calmly and happily to him and disappearing... His heart pounds, however, at hearing the words coming from that one stranger within that voided realm. "Lazarine", it said in a deep tone. It's familiar but forboding.

Alex stretches his arms, all of his joints crackling as he gets up from his long slumber. He sighs, staring out the window with the light warming his face. After needling the bottom half of his breezy and loose shirt with golden, honey colored pins, he steps out of the room to look around and find nobody in the living space or kitchen.

He hears a noise coming from the back of the cabin, taking notice of some swishing movement, out on the balcony. White feathers float in the breeze as the being comes in slightly pittled with water droplets from the sky. Alex sees them, Seff! He runs to greet them happily, hugging the life out of their best friend. Seff's eyes open wide as he, too hugs Alex back and pats him in confusion. "Wait... you've only been asleep for two days. Are you ok?" Alex blushes and looks away, scratching the back of his head in embarassment.

Seff shakes his head and points outside. "Your flowers grew in pretty nicely. We figured it was because of the stuff that you keep bleeding, because of its color." Alex looks out the back doors, seeing Akhmin and Elkhra tending to boxes filled with produce while Achiin is playing with the bug robot. The glowing blue flowers in the corner are swaying slightly as small tufts of wind close in by the fencing. The flowers consist of about eight petals lined in navy, layered atop one another and fanned out with a large, glowing blue stamen shooting through the core. Darkened green leaves spread across in duos on each side allowing for the absorbtion of light. "We figured out it grows well in darker spots but we don't know what it likes as nutrients." Seff states. "Would you like to name it?" Alex ponders for a moment. He holds some meaningful words within his mind. The flower seems to look as blue as the sky he saw in his dreams and the eyes of the death aspect he just encountered were of moons. They gleamed and glinted like stars. Two words come to mind. 'scintilla' and 'crescented' seemed to match. Perhaps...

Alex comes up with broad terms, putting them together and starts jotting it down on a piece of papyrus stashed away in a cupboard near him. Chalks lined the bottom of the area so he picked up the brightest blue he could find and made every single letter from a language he only knows by memory.

Seff had problems trying to understand it but realized it's an offset language designed by humans before their fall. Ancient languages of all kinds of cultures were present before the death of their civilization. "These are very interesting. You know Engi?" Alex confusingly shakes his head and writes next to the name of the flower spelling it out. Seff speaks it again. "Eng-...Engyiii..sh? Engyish!" Alex cuts his nod into a soft half bob due to it being slightly incorrect.

Alex then tries to get Seff to speak aloud the flower's name. Although very hard to understand, Seff got past the 'Sc' thinking it was 'Sk' and rose against the double 'L' problem thinking every 'L' was a 'Y'. Finally, Seff spoke the name of the flower. "Crescintillant?" The name of the flower was pronounced as follows, 'Cress-IN-TILL-ent'. Alex nods harshly while smiling this time. Seff returns the expression. Alex thought of these two words because of its glimmering qualities and how it reminds him of the supposed planet he was just on. Much like a moon, it, too glistened in the night sky, a pure and greyish white. He even observed the phases, which he called 'shifts', from many moons on Aphrodite, marking the crescent shape as his favorite. A pendulum. Something about that shape also is very familiar to him in memory.

As Alex perceives to be deep in thought, closing his eyes, Akhmin, Elkhra, and Achiin come in from the gardens. Akhmin takes a large sack of produce he gathered from the garden and placed it gently on the ground. He smiles and looks over at Alex. "I see you're back and in good health?" Alex's mouth still drips the cold and misty tears of blue essence, if only slightly. "Hm... for the most part."

Akhmin gets up and walks over to him. He puts his hand gently on his shoulder to give him some comforting news. "An event is coming soon, tomorrow, in fact. Seff here is going to make some tarts and I'm going to be buying up a lot of booze from the local Carrowai to celebrate. You wanna join in?" Alex's eyes sparkle with slight glee at this opportunity to socialize. Akhmin grins happily with response, "I take that as a maybe." He pats him happily with a gentle smile and walks over to the front door to feed the bovins their nightly feast.

As Alex stands in the kitchen watching Elkhra and Seff converse, Achiin is trying to fix the panel on the robot bug's stomach. "Mh won't budge... Hhhhhhhh..." Alex looks at him curiously, the humming in his chest still present. For some reason he's used to it at this point. Achiin places the bug bot on the table and goes through his organized set of tools, trying to find one he hasn't tried. Alex sits across from him and watches. Achiin looks up at him after sobbing in his arms a bit. "Hmh...?... What, I'm busy..." Alex tilts his head in interest, his hand feels and looks odd again in his sensors. He can also see the panel slightly glowing? Can Achiin see this?

Alex points to his own chest, looks at the robot, and then points at the panel. Achiin isn't sure about what he's trying to show him. He knows what he's saying but he doesn't know if it's a good idea. He remembers the weird thing he saw when going to sleep the first time he was here, however. Maybe it's his? He pushes the bot over to Alex, watching him with interest but disdain for possible success.

Alex looks at his palm, the same imprint he saw when he was pressing his hand against Seff's to instantaneously understand their voice. He is curious to find what happens so he puts his hand flat on the stomach of the bug bot. The panel is a rhomboid shape, oblique to the slightly rectangular chassis. It starts to glow green, which slightly scares Alex, closing his eyes. It then turns a small flicker of blue with a chime that opens it up. He opens one of his eyes as Achiin is impressed with what Alex can do. They both look inside.

Mesh of organically compounded muscle in the shape of a scorpion's manifolds within the chassis as the metal warps and recedes from the rhomboidal panel like mercurial fluid. Seff and Elkhra see this and walk over to the table, curious.

Achiin eyes the opening and looks at the part that fell from it. It was a small cylindrical capsule with fluid inside. They carefully gave it to Alex so that they could reinstall it. Alex takes a glance at it and is slightly reminded of a similar looking power source. "Battery" he thought to himself. He found a small slot that had the same shape and inserted it with a click.

Electrical surges faintly sparked and made the muscles of the robot jitter. The body closed up and a small warping gear noise resonated within it. It flipped over and faced Alex. Its eyes lit up as it started speaking.

-

"Full body integrity . . . Nominal.

Subject: Alexander

Query: Repair inner components?

-- Error --

Inquery: Component to speech unrecognized.

Result: Inability to use vocal interface.

Decision: Full repair imminent. Starting repair in 10 seconds."

-

Nothing this robot said made any sense to the Raphiim household due to the language barrier. It made no sense to Alex either, however he understood the language spoken. 'repair imminent'. Exactly what was it going to repair?

The robot opens up at the bottom, making its way toward Alex's arm. It taps it gently. "This will be over in approximately 1 minute. Please calmly wait idlely for repair" When the robot latches onto his back, Alex starts to freak out with anxiety, reaching at it, trying to get it off. As the others try taking it off him, It just digs deeper into his muscles as he jumps backing up to the wall. All of it is painful, his neck is starting to feel horribly uncomfortable as if something is squirming up his spine, causing convulsions. His limbs start to seize as well.

Akhmin and Seff pull at the robot as Alex's back is... sealing up. Akhmin sees this and stops Seff, pointing at it. Seff is in shock as the others watch him and Akhmin and stop what they're doing. Elkhra blinks a couple of times and questions them, "What...? What's happening?" as he rests Alex's head on his shoulder. Akhmin slowly shakes his head. "Taellis..." Seff stares at his father and is reminded of his mother's tales. How a tall figure came to their planet through a ruinous tower. "Is this... is he?" Akhmin and Seff both back off from the robot, as they do, the other two slowly stop struggling as Alex falls to his knees. "pain" Alex thought. "Is this what Thana meant?"

Alex, tired from all the pain, falls to the floor, his face bashed against the panels of wood. He starts snoring. The robot recoils its tendrils of metal and disengages, scuttling its little pointy crab legs off his body. It announces that its repairs are complete and is confronted by Akhmin. He puts it on the table, everyone else sitting alongside him, staring at it as Alex lay on the floor still conked out.

Akhmin stares into its little beady glass eyes and interrogates it. "Taellis... who are they?" The robot replies only with the fact it is unable to give information regarding classified knowledge. It does say, however... "Subject: Alexander was not meant to be here" Akhmin sits back. Seff tells Akhmin about how they were the one that found him... at a site off the edge of the plains from their home. They detailed how he was injured, his blue blood splattered all over a cave filled to the brim with those flowers... Akhmin widens his eyes. Seff speaks his mind, "I think... he came from the sky." Akhmin looks up at the ceiling being told this, thinking of the situation. He sighs. "I suppose we'll have to send him back up there, won't we..." Seff looks back at Akhmin in surprise. "What do you mean?" Akhmin smiles. "Your mother was half Kymera... her folks should be ok with giving Alex a lift hm?" Seff's eyes glisten at these words. Knowing what's to come, he's excited.

A man wakes up on a planet of unknown origin. The plains of islands are filled with fungal plant life and winding, warped, sun-bleached trees with pink and bright orange leaves. Clusters of dazzling crystals hold these islands above the clouds, cutting off view from the darker trenches and chasms.

As he awakens, his skin is shown a very light salmon color from the light with cyan blue markings that glow and emit from small gaps in his skin. Before he's able to gain some sort of stability in both consciousness and mobility, a storm before him is approaching...
